just droppped by this demonland-mates page to mention that my just-deleted geelong v hawthorn thread read as follows: "Geelong v 2Pooz, the only game in town. Then, something like, "The Geelong v Hawthorn fixture is the only game worth watching", or words to that effect. Sub-text: too many teams, too many teams locked out of AFL approved elite team status (fixturing, media coverage, blockbuster allocation etc). terribyl Sorry t0 have left my non-relevant thread on MFC matters on the otherwise hallowed demonland threads...
  2. Thanks Macca, great link.
  3. Watching Agar's highlights reminds me very much of Clive Lloyd in full pomp. We, courtesy of Darren Lehmann have found a potential superstar.
  4. Hey, my recent thread announcing start of series got deleted after five minutes. It's just not cricket.

Always gotta laugh when online supporters complain about alleged lack of courage of AFL footballers. Squib is very easy to type except for the Q letter where your left pinky has to go backwards into a pack.

A fantastic late goal by Kennedy and we are off to Brazil 2014.

This thread should be merged with the indulgent, post-grinding thread.

This was an emotional occasion, as would be a Demon flag:

Apparently it failed because too many players would have had to run around in the poos. Effectively a takeover of Hawthorn by Melbourne. That's why MFC vote tended to support it and the Hawthorn membership didn't.
  13. On second thoughts, the 1970 Aussie tourists should be awarded a National Street parade. Well done, Ian Redpath, Paul Sheahan, Douggie Walters, Garth, you wouldn't have laid down like these professional hamsters.
  14. Slightly off-topic here Chook but does that Pollos thing have anything to do with the Breaking Bad series or is that just a bird-like reference?
  15. I don't know why, but Australia's cricket fortunes really affect me, so much that I can't sleep when the pathetic "9/21" is broadcast into the ether in the early hours of the morning, the on-going management of the flannelised sportsmen has been ludicrous and unaccountable for years now. The ongoing debacle of selection decisions read Andrew Hilditch, and the wax-like preservation of non-performers, read Ponting, mitchell sling em anywhere Johnson and not-to-mention Phillip Hughes incredulous promotion over Katich (who should forthwith receive a Federal Government Apology for all preceding dummy-spitting and tantrums. mighty demons, you are now officially forgiven for your kardinia park transgressions in season 2011, these aussie cricketers and their minders have cast you as true australian sporting heroes forevermore.

love the axe dragging debauchery of Breaking Bad,,,, that show freaks me out totally, i love the characters and storyline, though i feel Season 4 is being stretched out a bit and that Skyla's character sometimes unconvincing. am currently stranded on episode 6. the hank / walt thing is the big teaser.
  17. I was wondering what Punter's average in Test cricket has been over the past couple of years compared with Simon Katich. The clueless aussie selectors seem to be stabbing pins into a sheet.
  18. I think if Danny Hughes had played in the 60's he would have definitely kicked drop-kicks. I also remember Phil Rhoden's huge dropkicks in the last quarter of the reserves at the MCG. In pressure games the margin for error is to great, you only have to watch error strewn grand finals of the 60's esp '64 (Rothman's footage) and '65, '66 to see why these kicks are low percentage. having said that i think john ronaldson kicked two monster goals from dropkicks on huge angles in the '67 grand final. They could only be restored by making them mandatory from kick-outs or 9 points from outside the 50 metre arc. then the glory days would coming rushing back.
  19. $38,000. Lou Richards re-named him after a less-precious metal, "Tillendrium Tillbrook".
  20. David Cordner arrived on the scene in a blaze of glory. The details are now hazy but I seem to remember him playing one blinder of a game. He was a high-marking blond forward. Great pedigree, then disappeared from the scene. Whispering Jack updated me on Ed Burston in the mid 60's. Arrived with huge wraps and also disappeared off the scene.
