2025 Grand Final
Tightly contested. Both teams jittery still. Good job by Bris to hang in there, if they can just get their uncontested game going a bit they will make this a heck of a match.

The venue I'm at is having the old 'Oh no Kayo isn't showing it, we'll have to create a 7+ account' moment.

Big move for Burgo and probably inevitable. Wonder how much this would have been a pull for Petracca to Adelaide?

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
Mihocek is 33 in Feb. A battered 33 as well. Offering 3 years doesn't sound like a winner move.

Probably because he's actually considering it.

I mean this from the bottom of my heart, I like discussing MFC with a lot of people on here but I really, really do not care if people agree with my takes or not. Not on here to rack up likes or win the popular vote, I call it as I see it and that's not changing. Mentioned it a few times but most places I looked at today didnt think it was a bad offer, Cal Twomey asked Riley Beveridge on Gettable today if 14 and F1 gets the deal done and he said yes without thinking about it too much. It's really only been on here where people are emphatically rejecting this offer and I understand that because of the emotional connection. We all have different ambitions with this club. Some would be happy for Petracca to be a one club player at the expense of future success and that is fine. Some want to live through the windshield and not the rear view mirror, making bold and not always popular decisions and that is fine too. The key is that good football clubs make good football decisions, popular or not. I recall very few if any people saying to make the trade for Petty to Adelaide this time two years ago. But now? Haha If we didn't make this deal and Trac's stock plummets more next year anc beyond then I look forward to the first DH who says we should have made the deal.

Yes our ascendency up the ladder was amazing this year keeping all those guys. Keeping stars doesn't always equate to wins.

If that were true then we really should be cashing in a going into full on rebuild mode..

Exactly. I think freeing up cash is going to be better for us than improving our draft position by a couple of picks. The offer may not be what we want but if they took 100% of the contract on it wouldn't be terrible.

The 'shallow draft' thing is a bit of a folly and in my experience, rarely plays a big part in how things turn out. There are good finds in every single draft and why wouldn't you back someone like JT to find them? I'm just glad our list management doesn't work based on what fans think is a 'shallow draft'. As for the compromised draft, it effects every club the same way, much like Richmond's hand did last year, again no reason to sit on our hands. The question with Trac is, do you want to hold him to his contract and maybe tell him that the last few years of his career won't be chasing a flag? Or cash in now, get back into the draft and get what you may not be able to get again. I've said repeatedly that I think the best option is he stays but it's not a no brainer by any stretch and his head his being turned.

Definitely seems like DL is separated from the rest of the world today! Understandable that fans are emotionally connected..

I'd rather keep for another year. However if it got to the point where he was demanding to leave then you have to ask what is it worth keeping someone who isn't 100% invested? It's not something we'd know and it can't be measured like trades and picks can and that's why 4 people instantly dismissed what I originally said within minutes. It sounds easy to hold someone to their contract but morale of the list should be taken into account too. Otherwise we'll just have some highly paid mercenaries running around again.

Well if he's happy to stay then that is still the best option right now.

NFL
I think it is Biff. Yes we've re-built the D-line and interior but Bosa leaves a hole that you just can't fill. Gorg not too bad at 17 carries but we threw a lot more screens so he had 10 catches as well. Bit less the week before, the bonus is that we're trusting Mac Jones with the ball and it's actually paying off! Plenty of play action and over the middle stuff.

It's not always about 100% fair value trades though. Most are (Understandably) looking at this in isolation and getting a like for like trade. From all accounts the guy has reportedly wanted to leave for 2 years now. In a list that is pivoting with a new coach do we really want to keep someone that doesn't want to be there? I know it's not perfect but turning 30 next year after a serious injury it's unlikely the stock is going up. At very least 14 and an F1 isn't a bad start, play GC off them and try to get a little more of course but top 5 picks are a dream.

I agree. But if the decision is to move him on then it's unlikely to get better than this.

A lot of copying and pasting going on. This board is the only area I've seen emphatic disagreement on this today so that probably says a lot.

We aint getting pick 5 Gorg. As long as they are taking all of his salary I think this is probably the best we can hope for.
