The Judd deal is not done until WCE accepts the trade.

Mark Riley to Carlton And Josh Mahoney To Us?
drdrake replied to deestroyers's topic in Melbourne Demons
So who are we getting Cripps or Mahoney? It wouldn't be both, Do we still have Paul Williams, if he is contracted maybe we can make him the interchange stewert as he stuffed our midfield up last year. -
With one player Meesen declaring he wants to go to Melbourne and hopefully Judd will do the same the MFC trades will be exciting to watch, so far we have heard the below Frawley to St Kilda for pick 9 Robbo to Western Bulldogs for pick 22 They are the two most Journo have touted To get Judd pick 4 and 9 and a swap of second round picks To get Meesen pick 30 that we aquire from WCE Leaves us with pick 22. If we get the above two players, IMO Jamar will be offered to St Kilda as part of the Frawley deal for their third round pick also. To get a little room in the salary cap we will have to trade one of TJ or Davey these two are the only players with any trade value, Bruce would be included but the club isn't going to pay some of his wage if he went to another club. Lets get this Grand final over and trade week started it may be a very very exciting one for the MFC.

Bailey would have seen a lot of this guy in the SANFL, he might have impressed at that level 200cm ok size. A few players at MFC will be concerned what or where there future is. Our new coach has identified our weaknesses and addressing them, if god help us we can land Judd and Meesen there are two key areas that we needed a top line fast midfielder and a ruckman. All we need now is Murphy from Fremantle, Graham from WCE and we have a key forward and key defender. CAC might have his work cut out in the draft with all the rumours going around we wont have a pick until the 3rd round.
-
I hope it is that easy Frawley for pick 9, but I can't see it although you would think St Kilda would rather see Judd go to us than the other three teams in the hunt.
-
It will take more than Frawley to get pick 9, don't be supprised if our second pick will go to St Kilda as well.

Buy a ticket to the B&F, what a night it will be if Judd does decide Melbourne, what a perfect place for the Paul Gardner to open with " Thanks for coming tonight we got Judd" The place will go off.

If he is coming to Melbourne the B&F on Monday night will be perfect time to announce to the members -
We all better get to the B&F next Monday night, if he is coming to Melbourne it will be announced there.

Why should he just accept a two year deal, he wants three and has been offered elsewhere. If you are 63 yo and under John Howards Work place agreements your employer offers you 2 years but you want three and retire then a competitor has offered you that sercurity of a three year contract you have to consider it. That is what he is doing, personally you can't hold that against him. On the club side they have every right to only offer him a two year deal and if this is a sticking point and the right trade found I have no problem with Robbo going. It could be a win win for both parties.
-
If he comes it is a bonus, but if he doesn't our midfield still looks strong enough to compete and we will still have pick 4. Who knows that pick may be the next superstar of the competition. Getting Judd as I said would be great but the next Chris Judd may be a kid waiting to be picked up.
-
Good theory, but no we would have won that game with an under 12's team everyone saw the Carlton supporters chearing when they missed goals, clapping our goals it was a farce that game.
-
If we miss out on Judd, don't be supprised if the Eagles pick Rance with their No 3 pick they will get from Carlton. The Eagles wil back themself to get Morton back after two years interstate and they have a strong enough midfield even with out Judd. What happened to the Eagles player Graham tall defender seems to be a back up for Glass, wouldn't cost us much to get him maybe even in the preseason draft at No 3. Funny how our past coach ND identified this as a key area at the end of 2002 4 years on we still look to have the same problem
-
Chris Judd will do the right thing by the WCE also, he knows that they will want at the very least a top 5 pick and a player or another late first round/early second. The WCE won't accept the Pies 13-17 pick, then they have to trade, what do they have that is worth a top 5 pick IMO nothing and I'm sure that three clubs Essendon, Melb and Carlton aren't going to trade a pick that will broker this deal and Richmond need to get a good kid or there supporters will turn even more hostile than they already are. I can see us offering our current first and second round pick and maybe a player, will that be enough we can only hope so.

The MFC has to do everything in its power to get Judd. We need to get Ian Johnson to get His girlfriend a Job at channel 7( Eddie will offer this at Collingwood), we need Garry Lyon and Ronald Dale to take him to the best restuarant in Melbourne and sell the club. John So to give him the key to the city, Joe Gutnick to offer shares in one of his mining companies. It is going to take more than the standard contract to get him to Melbourne. In regards to what we give up it will be pick 4 and Robbo, WCE want another goal kicking forward, they have Lynch and Hanson they need another player that can kick 50+ goals. Carlton sit in the box seat they will offer pick 3 and maybe Fev, but the Eagles will want pick 1 and 3 with Josh Kennedy. The MFC has to pull at Judds heartstrings hopefully his family support the Dees also and we sell that he can return the club to where it belongs at the top. Hopefully Bailey can pul another awesome presentation out and convince Judd to come to us. Who cares about finals bring on Judd week.

Let Robbo go to the Dogs, has been a good player but a 2 year deal is fair enough, if he wants three lets get something for him. I realise using the media is a tactic players and player managers use to get what they want but the MFC has to do what is best for the MFC, giving Robbo a 3 year deal isn't in the best interest of the club. If Robbo stays fit he will get the year he wants on a new contract on the completion of the two years on offer

I have been looking at our list and I still see a big hole down back. In past posts I have said lets get a fast midfielder, but I am leaning towards Rance as a 194cm quick defender. That would give us Frawley at 193cm, River 192cm and Rance three good size defenders with Bell, Bartram and Petterd not a bad back six for the future.. I still think we need speed in our midfield, but IMO our best midfielders fit are good enough for the next couple of years. Hopefully CAC can get a ruckman and speed with our later picks.
-
It may of been said before but you can't delist to many more. IMO our depth is in our running players, we have Mclean, Bruce, TJ, Green, JMac, Jones, Sylvia, Bate, Dunn, Batram, Petterd, CJ, Buckley, Moloney, Davey, Bode and this draft from what I have read looks to be stronger in the midfield ranks, thtas half our list with midfielders, Godfrey had no spot neither Ward. In regards to Warnock, Ferguson, Miller, Holland, Jamar, one of these will not be at the club next year. With the exception of Rivers and Neitz we have no high quality talls, we need to keep these average talls around and hope one of them can play some good footy next year. The more I look at our list the more I start to lean towards picking up Rance with pick 4, we need another defensive tall as a priority.
-
By losing those four players mentioned, it wouldn't make us softer. Three of the four played zoning roles in Brown, Ward and Biz and this year Pickett was so unfit he couldn't get the the contest to apply and physical pressure. Brown and Biz had no fear when it came to winning the footy but I wouldn't say they had a strong pressence on the field.
-
I'm still of the opinion that we need to draft a fast skillful midfielder, the three choices seem to be Morton, Palmer or Ebert assuming Cochin is taken in the top three. Saying that though good KPP are like gold, look at the tale of three clubs, Richmond, Hawthorn and the Bulldogs, Richmond and the Doggies have focused on using early picks for fast midfielders where the Hawks with early picks have got KPP, IMO the Hawks have the much better list by far. MIdfielders are avaliable through out the draft and good ones can be selected later, but good KPP don't usually get through the top 10, therefore Henderson and Rance could be the way to go. Up to you CAC

We have a losing culture at our club, it started in the 70's, strenghtened in the 80's and although our perfromances have improved from the late 80's 90's and th 00's we still don't have a winners culture. Our club accepts 2nd place and excuses, it is never anyones fault when we lose always an excuse and the club accepts it, has done for 40 years. We need a coach that will change our clubs mindset that near enough is good enough and stop living of the past glory. Our club is on the ropes, this decision will make or break this current board, if they take a punt on a untried coach and it doesn't work they will cained for not getting Sheedy or Connolly if they get one of the two experienced guys and it doesn't work they then will be gone because it should have been a fresh face. There is no safe call for the board. Sheedy will create instant hype around the club and will give the club a higher media profile. Commercially in the short term he is the clubs best option, but is this a commercial decision, IMO the answer is Yes. Our club needs to generate more income, we need to attrack sponsers, increase our Membership and not by doing it the easy way and counting the $40.00MCC members, we need 25-30,000 full paying MFC members along with our 5-10,000 MCC members. The others may turn out to be better coaches for the MFC, but for now he need to create some positive hype around our club. The other side is this bloke took Essendon from that losing culture like we have, to be one of the most successful teams over the past 25 years. Can he do it again, I bloody hope so because I'm sick of losing, sick of accepting below par performances, sick our clubs near enough is good enough attitude. I will always buy my Membership and attend as many games as I can, so I hope the club makes the right decision wheher it is Sheedy or not and we can get the success all us supporters deserve, we are Melbourne we are winners. Thats what needs to be brought back to our club.

Maybe from this supporter site. Maybe Connolly is the best choice for the club, maybe he is not but as a supporter of the MFC we need to do just that support whoever is appointed coach and give them every opportunity to turn us around. The next coach has a huge task and there may not be the quick fix that we think it may be. We have a lot of players close to the end, players that are still young but aren't good enough and a core of young players that keep us excited about our future but we are missing some key components at our club both on a playing list side and club culture. It is a hard choice for the club, we need a coach that can improve our performance, increase our profile in the football community and also get that winning culture around our club. IMO it is down to two Sheedy or Connolly.

Bohdan, is a sprint coach that is his background. I think he coached Steve Hutton to a Stawell gift win. If he is been focusing with the MFC players on increasing our speed he has failed. We are slow, I saw the drills in preseason they were set up to increase our agility, our players beside TJ have huge turning circles and have acceleration. The sprint drills they do before a game are a waste of time. Jones gets the footy at the contest but doesn't have the strength or speed to get it out, so many times this year he has won the contested ball just to be tackled and a secondary ball up or holding the ball is paid. Let him see out his contract, but I would have him as a Sprint coach not as the primary conditioning coach.
