I would accept any pick in the top 30, he is not worth a first round pick.

In todays Sun they descibed the way Hawthorn assess teams and themself. They ranked every play on a 1-5 basis 1 being elite AFL Players 2 Highly Talented AFL level Players 3 Core 4A Improving 4B Below Standard Declining Aging 5 Developing/Rookies How do we stack up? IMO 1-0 players we have no elite 2- 4 Johnstone, Bruce, Mclean, Robertson 3-14 Mcdonald, Green, white, Bell, Davey, Wheatley, Neitz, Rivers, Whelan, Carroll, Miller, Jones, Sylvia, Bate 4a-11 Dunn, Petterd, Bartram, Buckley, Frawley, Jamar, PJ, CJ, Newton, Warnock, Bode 4B-8 Godfrey, Yze, Biz, Brown, Holland, Pickett, Ward, Ferguson 5-6 Garland, Hayes, Hughes, Neaves, Neville, Weetra

I think we all over rate Jeff White, he is the only senior player to play all 22 games but couldn't even manage to poll into our top five. We needed him to step up in 2007 and all he did was compete at the stopages and stand by himself getting easy kicks. He should of been working hard to get back to help our backline standing in the hole, the only game I can remember him having any influence on was his 250th and then he followed it up on Neita's 300th by getting smashed by two very average ruckman at Collingwood. He played for himself in 2007 got easy kicks, I hope he is less selfish in 2008.

Players we should be looking at for trade week
drdrake replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
There is no quick fix for our list, I would be happy if we got Meesen and traded Jamar. Also if any club offers a first round pick for TJ or second round pick for Miller I would take it. I rate Graham from WCE, 195cm moves well could slot into FB or CHB to free up Rivers to play the zoning defender and also give Frawley a little of time to develop before he put him in a key defender role. Graham would be a better option then Holland, Ferguson or Warnock and maybe even Carroll. We need to inject some more youth into our list, hopefully we can get another first round pick or second to cover the one we will have to give up for Meesen. -
It depends on how Bailey wants to structure his department. He may not have a forward, back and midfield coach. Mahoney would be good with the younger players.

One of the two, I don't know which one.

Don't Visy own Pulp mills, and you need cut down trees to produce pulp. Someone needs to tell him to shut up or admit the the CFC offer was higher than the other bids.
-
We have another assistant that came in when Riley was promoted I think his name is Prentagast(spelling is wrong) he presented a couple of trophis on Monday night, I think he is staying as well.

The AFL needs all clubs to be competitive and the draft is one thing that helps clubs to get better. As I said I don't think any team that has received priority picks has won a flag in the past since they were introduced.
-
The draft system is fine the way it is, name one club that has receive priority picks or picked up a superstar from another club in trade season that have one a flag in the past 15 years
-
Fev will be in a WCE jumper next year, he will love it in the West being centre of attention
-
Don't be supprised if the WCE get Rance with 3
-
I agree but I think the club believes that we can rebound quickly and play finals in 2008. I also agree with the club, but is just making finals good enough, are our senior players good enough to win a flag in the next two years before we lose Neitz, White, Yze, McDonald, Robbo(maybe) or do we bite the bullet and offer up a TJ and others for draft picks. The club does need to make some big calls on some players that have been at the club for 5+ years.
-
Sitting listening to this man was great, no player will be getting soft rides like they have for the past 5 years. You have to be positive about the future after his speach.
-
It didn't help them, having one of the richest men in Australia as a president has saved Carlton. Judd auctioned himself to the highest bidder, he bluffed everyone to believe he wanted to play on the MCG and the clubs facilities were important but the end of teh day it came to to which club wanted to pay more.
-
The thing about Palmer is he has been playing WAFL league footy for 2 years, he could step up and play a lot next year, he kicks goals. Tough call do you go after a Rance or Henderson as the best KPP defender and forwards in the draft or the best avaliable which IMO will be Palmer.

No way are we giving this pick away

Heard him speak last night impressive. He came accross as that hard nosed coach that we need. Started off by having a dig at Judd sayiny that when he walked into the Juntion Oval he saw the weights, the smell and said to himself this is a real Football club. Then went on to list 10-12 players young players that gained good experience from 2007 and pointed out that these guys are the future and need to put pressure on the senior players to raise the bar. Then he announce pre-season officially starts on th 31/10, but it really starts today as the players have to present themselves on the 31/10 in top shape. He put the challenge to each player to show him how serious they are by the way the present for the opening day of preseason. Great night last night, Josh Mahoney was announced as an assistant coach as well.
-
The club through out 2007 has been trying to point out the unlevel playing field that the AFL is. Paul Gardner started this agenda after the first couple of games and Steve Harris continues this with the Judd Press release.
-
Dean Bailey announced this last night at the B & F, 2 years.
-
I don't know why Money comes up, Every club has the same salary cap, same marketing allowances the MFC can pay him the same if not more than the other clubs if the club chooses to.

This is getting out of control, are we going to have any players left. I think the media reads this website and runs with the stories that are posted. Chris Judd will go to the club not only that he wants to go to but the club that can meet the WCE demands. WCE have stated all along they want two first round picks, maybe Chris Judd wants to make sure the club he picks can get these picks before he commits to them. It is all opinion by all the media outlets, if they keep guessing different outcomes one of them will be right. End of the day if he picks us and we can get the deal done fantastic, if not the club moves on and we enter the draft with pick 4.
-
Judd is not going to declare a club unless he is sure that club can get him in trade week. I don't believe he hasn't made a decission but he wont come out and say a club until the WCE are happy with what they will get from the club. He doesn't want to be a Nick Stevens, IMO I would think he wants to ensure the WCE get the right deal for him. On BT don't forget he works with Danny Frawley if we have offered up his nephew to St Kilda he would know and may of passed on mail.

Mark Riley to Carlton And Josh Mahoney To Us?
drdrake replied to deestroyers's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well there is your forward coach Mahoney, Midfield Williams and Backs Cripps -
Frawley was brought up last night on Fox and also on a few radio stations. The trades I have mentioned are only the ones that the media has thrown up over the past week we all know Robbo wants three years, and in todays Age it is reported that Meesen wants to come to Melbourne.
