One Garland, put him down back for a couple of years, get a good defensive side to his game and then put him up forward
-
Leadership groups are a load of rubbish anyway. All you need is captian a Vice and Deputy, the rest is over kill.
-
It's always hard to name a 22 with out taken into account who we are playing, assuming we are looking our best 22 for round one and every one is fit this is my 22 Whelan Frawley Carroll Bell Rivers Bruce Sylvia Mclean Green Robbo Miller Bate Davey Neitz Newton White McDonald Jones Petterd Bartram Moloney one of PJ Jamar or Meesen R1 is a long way off and hopefully we can find a player in the NAB cup
-
If Neita doesn't captain then who does? Bruce and Green no thanks, Mclean is a year away, McDonald would be good but only has a couple of seasons left in him. Neita has one more year then Brock for the next decade.

Give them a spot on the coaches and Traners collar back of the Primus quarter time banner spots signage at the MCG and on our press conference banner, won't conflict with any other sponser. Even if we get 2-300,000 we wouldn't of budgeted on this. Better still Team Melbourne get the deal for the full 500,000 + some
-
I still have high hopes for him as a forward, when Robbo and Neitz go I think PJ and Newton can play side by side out of the square. He just needs to hold his marks 199cm bloke that leads well has a decent kick is hard to man up on.

If we can get sponsership from anywhere take it, if your players don't break the law you don't have to worry about losing the deal.

Like any of the 16 AFL clubs we will need a little bit of luck, to win the close games to keep your best 25 players fit. I am a firm believer that if our best 22 are playing well we can beat any team in the competition, my main concern is consistancy we need to play well all season and not have the tradition period when we are rubbish. Our best footy will win games our worst is terrible and we get flocked. For the past 10 seasons we have had no in between we are either awesome or rubbish. Dean Bailey has to narrow that performance gap so when we are off we can still be competitive if he can do that we will make the 8. One last thing, I don't want to hear in the media this year from any MFC player, coach, official that 2008 is about earning back respect 2008 is about winning games, every year is about winning games

Rivers should always be played at CHB so he shouldn't play on Franklin. Your Backline and forwards are only as good as the midfield let them be, if our midfield plays like it did in 2007 any player at FB will get slaughtered. Michael and Glass are good Full backs because both had the best midfields in the comp, (Michael at Brisbane he sucks at Essendon)Personally I think Frawley has to start at FB with Carroll next to him and Rivers at CHB and Bell/Whelan/Green filling the other spots. On Miller what he is best at is a lead up CHF if our midfield cant get clean footy and dispose of it well Miller will not get a kick. Our skills were sub standard in 2007 if this doesn't improve in 2008 our KPP will struggle again.

Who cares, all I'm concerned about is the MFC winning games, if you win games you create interest and support. Which inturn brings in revenue with more members and higher gate receipts. We need to have a 3-5 year period were we are true premiership contenders. Let all the other teams do what they want of the field we need to start performing on it and just making up the numbers in the final 8 is not a sucessful season.
-
This draft and the rookie draft is for what your list needs. We need talls that can hopefully develop into KPP over the next couple of years. We picked up two players that will need a couple of years to develop, a 203cm ruckman which we have all been crying for, and a midfielder that many on this site has wanted for some time. We didn't choose Sampi, no other club did either

Brad Miller started to play bad after he hit a few blokes and got rubbed out for a couple of games. Since then his attack on the footy and player has been poor. IMO when he is leading straight up the middle attacking his leads and the footy he is a good lead up CHF. If he goes back to do this role well our midfiled needs to be educated to get to him for the handball. He knows his foot skill limitations but if he can get his hands on it around the middle of the ground thats when our talented kicking players should be running to him for a handball receive. Lets face it Miller is the type of player that relies on players to kick the ball well to him and last year we were one of the worst kicking teams in the AFL and we stuffed around held it up, no leading player would of got a kick player CHF for us last year.

It's the next phase when changes take place at senior level people around them startt to take offers a little bit more serious when before they are comfortable with the people around them and have built freindships with them so it is harder to poach them away.

I have an Idea, your back 6 actually plays as your back 6 and doesn't go past the centre line, the the HFF chase kicks let them and the HBF stands in the forwards space. Then the Full back has half a chance when their is no space for them to lead into. The big issue for a full back is when the other defenders are drawn up the ground and the full forward has a paddock in front of them, one clean break away the full back has no chance. This is not flooding this is playing your position. One the FB Frawley has to be thrown into the deep end, he is big enough to stand most forwards and if the back 6 help each other out like Geelong did in 2007 he will be fine.

Good luck working with the two all time great AFL spinners in Miller and Wallace, both have no ability in there roles but they can talk and find excuses. In fact that is the Richmond footy club all talk. If this is true good luck CAC thanks for your service. On good thing about Richmond you will always get a top 5 pick in the draft.

2 years tops, how long can you keep playing a ruckman that hates the contested ball. He contests well in controlled ruck contests then stands by himself on a wing the rest of the time. A few years back he worked hard to get into the defensive hole but the last couple of years he has just chased easy kicks. I hope Bailey won't let him get away with it this year.

If we don't pick up another player on our list can we take an extra rookie and leave one spot on the list to promote if need be? If so take Sampi as a mature rookie to save some cash, I think each club can get 1 player over 23. Get 4 young talls no need for midfielders we have 23 players on our list that can play as midfielders. Get some project talls for Mark Williams to work with.
-
Davey has to learn to deal with the close attention, if he does he is a freak and his speed will be required in the midfield. He is one player that when on song can spark the team and even more imprtantly bring spectators to our games.
-
Our backline is suspect, but we will welcome back Rivers and Whelan. If they can stay fit the 8 isn't out of the question, Frawley will have to take a massive step and play on some big forwards, looking beyind 2008 we can't pinch hit with Holland. Our midfield still looks a little on the slow side, but with Bartram fit he adds a bit of pace, if Maric is as good as people say play him as a forward pocket and put Davey through the midfield more often. If Mclean,Sylvia, Bate, Bartram, Davey, Rivers, Whelan, Yze, Robertson and Neitz can all stay fit top eight is a chance and get on a few few runs who knows. I would like to see some consistancy in our performances the roller coaster seasons over the past 10 yearsboth year to year and game to game needs to be fixed.
-
4 talls will be the order and hopefully one can be good.

Whelan, Frawley, Carroll Bell, Rivers, Green Davey, Mclean, Bruce Sylvia, Bate, Robertson Maric, Neitz, Newton White McDonald Jones PJ Petterd Bartam Morton

Forget about drafting a ruckman, they take 3-4 years to develop they don't win you games. We already have 4 on our list you don't want to waste another spot with a ruckman. Rookie one and hopefully they can develop to compete at stopages and get more than 4 touches a game. I'm not a ruckman fan, if I was Carlton I would waste No1 pick on Josh Fraser mark 2. Your midfield is the key if they are winning the footy more than likely your winning the game.
-
I would be happy with these picks, we get Morton an outside midfielder/utility with good skills, Pace with Dangerfield, A key defender/Forward in Taylor who is also quick with a good tank, a ball winner in Polkinghorne, a medium size defender and a unfit small forward with huge talent in Sampi. We then rookie a ruckman and a couple more talls. Speed and skill is what we need to be looking at they are the two areas I thought stood out that we severely lacked in 2007. I'm excited about tomorrow this is on of the most important drafts for the MFC since we took TJ at no1 in 97 and Col /Brock in 2003. 3 picks in the top 21 we really have a chance to unearth a couple of gems for the MFC.

It will be interesting to see our annual report in December, from Memory the boards goal was to be debt free by the end off 2008, I wonder if we are still on track to acheive this. If I was a Hawks supporter and my club was making profits I would be screaming about playing 4 home games in Tassie, I was [censored] off that we sold 2 last year. I couldn't care less if the club makes a small profit or a 3mil profit as long as I get to watch them live in Melb for 10 home games and 6-8 away games and hopefully in 2 years 11 home games I rapted. Saying that though it would be nice to boast a big profit once or twice.

Who cares, we will wear this Jumper against Essendon, Carlton, Freo and Bulldogs and more than likely preseason. The club is trying something different embrace it instead off hating it from a picture, wait till you at least actually see one being worn.
