  1. Great if it gets annonuce tonight that he wants to play for Melbourne, the next step is getting the trade done.
  2. If he is coming to Melbourne the B&F on Monday night will be perfect time to announce to the members
  3. We all better get to the B&F next Monday night, if he is coming to Melbourne it will be announced there.
  4. Why should he just accept a two year deal, he wants three and has been offered elsewhere. If you are 63 yo and under John Howards Work place agreements your employer offers you 2 years but you want three and retire then a competitor has offered you that sercurity of a three year contract you have to consider it. That is what he is doing, personally you can't hold that against him. On the club side they have every right to only offer him a two year deal and if this is a sticking point and the right trade found I have no problem with Robbo going. It could be a win win for both parties.
  5. If he comes it is a bonus, but if he doesn't our midfield still looks strong enough to compete and we will still have pick 4. Who knows that pick may be the next superstar of the competition. Getting Judd as I said would be great but the next Chris Judd may be a kid waiting to be picked up.
  6. Good theory, but no we would have won that game with an under 12's team everyone saw the Carlton supporters chearing when they missed goals, clapping our goals it was a farce that game.
  7. If we miss out on Judd, don't be supprised if the Eagles pick Rance with their No 3 pick they will get from Carlton. The Eagles wil back themself to get Morton back after two years interstate and they have a strong enough midfield even with out Judd. What happened to the Eagles player Graham tall defender seems to be a back up for Glass, wouldn't cost us much to get him maybe even in the preseason draft at No 3. Funny how our past coach ND identified this as a key area at the end of 2002 4 years on we still look to have the same problem
  8. Chris Judd will do the right thing by the WCE also, he knows that they will want at the very least a top 5 pick and a player or another late first round/early second. The WCE won't accept the Pies 13-17 pick, then they have to trade, what do they have that is worth a top 5 pick IMO nothing and I'm sure that three clubs Essendon, Melb and Carlton aren't going to trade a pick that will broker this deal and Richmond need to get a good kid or there supporters will turn even more hostile than they already are. I can see us offering our current first and second round pick and maybe a player, will that be enough we can only hope so.
  9. The MFC has to do everything in its power to get Judd. We need to get Ian Johnson to get His girlfriend a Job at channel 7( Eddie will offer this at Collingwood), we need Garry Lyon and Ronald Dale to take him to the best restuarant in Melbourne and sell the club. John So to give him the key to the city, Joe Gutnick to offer shares in one of his mining companies. It is going to take more than the standard contract to get him to Melbourne. In regards to what we give up it will be pick 4 and Robbo, WCE want another goal kicking forward, they have Lynch and Hanson they need another player that can kick 50+ goals. Carlton sit in the box seat they will offer pick 3 and maybe Fev, but the Eagles will want pick 1 and 3 with Josh Kennedy. The MFC has to pull at Judds heartstrings hopefully his family support the Dees also and we sell that he can return the club to where it belongs at the top. Hopefully Bailey can pul another awesome presentation out and convince Judd to come to us. Who cares about finals bring on Judd week.
  10. Let Robbo go to the Dogs, has been a good player but a 2 year deal is fair enough, if he wants three lets get something for him. I realise using the media is a tactic players and player managers use to get what they want but the MFC has to do what is best for the MFC, giving Robbo a 3 year deal isn't in the best interest of the club. If Robbo stays fit he will get the year he wants on a new contract on the completion of the two years on offer
  11. I have been looking at our list and I still see a big hole down back. In past posts I have said lets get a fast midfielder, but I am leaning towards Rance as a 194cm quick defender. That would give us Frawley at 193cm, River 192cm and Rance three good size defenders with Bell, Bartram and Petterd not a bad back six for the future.. I still think we need speed in our midfield, but IMO our best midfielders fit are good enough for the next couple of years. Hopefully CAC can get a ruckman and speed with our later picks.
  12. It may of been said before but you can't delist to many more. IMO our depth is in our running players, we have Mclean, Bruce, TJ, Green, JMac, Jones, Sylvia, Bate, Dunn, Batram, Petterd, CJ, Buckley, Moloney, Davey, Bode and this draft from what I have read looks to be stronger in the midfield ranks, thtas half our list with midfielders, Godfrey had no spot neither Ward. In regards to Warnock, Ferguson, Miller, Holland, Jamar, one of these will not be at the club next year. With the exception of Rivers and Neitz we have no high quality talls, we need to keep these average talls around and hope one of them can play some good footy next year. The more I look at our list the more I start to lean towards picking up Rance with pick 4, we need another defensive tall as a priority.
  13. By losing those four players mentioned, it wouldn't make us softer. Three of the four played zoning roles in Brown, Ward and Biz and this year Pickett was so unfit he couldn't get the the contest to apply and physical pressure. Brown and Biz had no fear when it came to winning the footy but I wouldn't say they had a strong pressence on the field.
  14. I'm still of the opinion that we need to draft a fast skillful midfielder, the three choices seem to be Morton, Palmer or Ebert assuming Cochin is taken in the top three. Saying that though good KPP are like gold, look at the tale of three clubs, Richmond, Hawthorn and the Bulldogs, Richmond and the Doggies have focused on using early picks for fast midfielders where the Hawks with early picks have got KPP, IMO the Hawks have the much better list by far. MIdfielders are avaliable through out the draft and good ones can be selected later, but good KPP don't usually get through the top 10, therefore Henderson and Rance could be the way to go. Up to you CAC
  15. We have a losing culture at our club, it started in the 70's, strenghtened in the 80's and although our perfromances have improved from the late 80's 90's and th 00's we still don't have a winners culture. Our club accepts 2nd place and excuses, it is never anyones fault when we lose always an excuse and the club accepts it, has done for 40 years. We need a coach that will change our clubs mindset that near enough is good enough and stop living of the past glory. Our club is on the ropes, this decision will make or break this current board, if they take a punt on a untried coach and it doesn't work they will cained for not getting Sheedy or Connolly if they get one of the two experienced guys and it doesn't work they then will be gone because it should have been a fresh face. There is no safe call for the board. Sheedy will create instant hype around the club and will give the club a higher media profile. Commercially in the short term he is the clubs best option, but is this a commercial decision, IMO the answer is Yes. Our club needs to generate more income, we need to attrack sponsers, increase our Membership and not by doing it the easy way and counting the $40.00MCC members, we need 25-30,000 full paying MFC members along with our 5-10,000 MCC members. The others may turn out to be better coaches for the MFC, but for now he need to create some positive hype around our club. The other side is this bloke took Essendon from that losing culture like we have, to be one of the most successful teams over the past 25 years. Can he do it again, I bloody hope so because I'm sick of losing, sick of accepting below par performances, sick our clubs near enough is good enough attitude. I will always buy my Membership and attend as many games as I can, so I hope the club makes the right decision wheher it is Sheedy or not and we can get the success all us supporters deserve, we are Melbourne we are winners. Thats what needs to be brought back to our club.
  16. Maybe from this supporter site. Maybe Connolly is the best choice for the club, maybe he is not but as a supporter of the MFC we need to do just that support whoever is appointed coach and give them every opportunity to turn us around. The next coach has a huge task and there may not be the quick fix that we think it may be. We have a lot of players close to the end, players that are still young but aren't good enough and a core of young players that keep us excited about our future but we are missing some key components at our club both on a playing list side and club culture. It is a hard choice for the club, we need a coach that can improve our performance, increase our profile in the football community and also get that winning culture around our club. IMO it is down to two Sheedy or Connolly.
  17. Bohdan, is a sprint coach that is his background. I think he coached Steve Hutton to a Stawell gift win. If he is been focusing with the MFC players on increasing our speed he has failed. We are slow, I saw the drills in preseason they were set up to increase our agility, our players beside TJ have huge turning circles and have acceleration. The sprint drills they do before a game are a waste of time. Jones gets the footy at the contest but doesn't have the strength or speed to get it out, so many times this year he has won the contested ball just to be tackled and a secondary ball up or holding the ball is paid. Let him see out his contract, but I would have him as a Sprint coach not as the primary conditioning coach.
  18. Is a 199cm ruckman worth having? A kid that size will dominate at their under age competitions. I would rather pick up a fast skillful midfielder with our first pick and then look to see if there is a 205+cm ruckman avaliable later in the draft. Ruckman are over rated, all you want is someone that will give you a contest. The theory that a ruckman gives you first hands on the ball may be right for a small percentage of ruck contests but really its the midfield being able to read the contest that makes them look good. Would Cox be so highly rated if he didn't have Judd, Kerr, Cousins and co at his feet, look at Spider Everate one of the best tap ruckmans for years, no sucess at St kilda, none at Hawthorn and Sydney have gone backwards this year, so does having the best ruckman win you a flag, IMO No, the midfielders around him do. We are two quality fast midfielders away from having a midfield good enough to compete with the top teams midfields. Then we need to find a tall defender and CHF but it may not be this draft. Our main priority is to inject some explosive pace into our midfield, look at Mclean, Jones, Sylvia, Bruce, Green, TJ, Moloney all are one paced with no explosive speed of the mark, they receive the ball and in a contested situation can't accelerate out of the congestion. I'm not talking about how fast thy can run 100m its the first 5-10m thats important.
  19. IMO it is down to two, Sheedy and Connolly, I get the impression from the clubs comments that they still think our list can be up there challenging for a flag over the next 1-3 years. Personally, I think we are a long way of winning a premiership and although a rebuild is well under way we are still 4-5 years away with our younger players to be a real threat. Saying that though if Sheedy or Connolly can get our best 22 on the park and playing at their best we should be able to finish 4-6 on the ladder in 2008, and hopefully our younger players continue to improve we inject a couple of KPP and a ruck in in 4-5 years we are ready to win a flag.
  20. Do we even know if Col was drinking, he could have been sober and Mcphee deserved to be hit.
  21. White has been bad all year, he plays for himself, hit outs he does win usually are ineffective, hates the contested pssession and loves standing on the wing be himself.
  22. Bond is a worry, at AFL level as a Player or coach has he had finals success, or been at clubs with big winning cultures. That is what we need a winnimg culture at our club hen losing is not acceptable. Sheedy comes from a club that he instilled tgis and Mckenna has been around it at the Eagles and now the Pies. Connolly didn't have it a freo and it was his downfall in the end. So, IMO the choice is down to two, Riley is ND mark 2 so we need either Sheedy or Mckenna
  23. I thought TJ with Jones were the only midfielders that played well in the first half, when he came we looked a better side. Why would you start Brock, Sylvia and TJ on the bench, our two best midfielders and a hard footballer, then have Jamar in a forward pocket, one thing is for sure Riley will not coach us next year, he is to much like ND
  24. Proud of what, the fact that with 22 players fit we didn't show anything and out two best midfielders started on the bench. One half of footy doesn't make me proud of the performance.
  25. Jones is a good footballer, but he is not superman, he needs to learn which he will that it is sometimes better just to kick it blindly forward than try to break a tackle. Jones, Mclean, Mcdonald and TJ had good nights even better considering our two ruckman got smashed by two very average ruckman. Jeff White has to have a good hard look at himself and stop playing for Jeff White and easy stats. Jamar is gone. Why did ND and now Mark Riley want to end Neita's carear, this bloke is a super strong player that is never outmarked, play him closer to goal, tonight he was starting from about 30m out like a second CHF, play him out of the goal square with a leading Newton, if you cant hit the lead kick it long to the top of the sqare and get players front and square to rove, neita will mark it or bring it to ground, but kick it long and move it quickly. Bate wasn't fit got a hit early and stuggled for the rest of the night, the question needs to be raised why rush him back, a fit Miller would have offered more
