  1. I'll explain he is a token chaser, he gives in way to early and to easy. 12 touches watch the game again he was back to his old run behind easy receive. For those at the game you will notice Davey is always playing off his man and chasing, if he manned up and ran off his man and ran hard to create I would have no issues. I will high light the first quarter he allowed a hawthorn player to run past him and then chased and tried to apply a tackle, to me that summed up where Aaron is at he would rather loss position and try to lay a tackle than win the hard footy. Aaron of old would have taken the footy and backed himself to out pace, now he is just making easy tackles.
  2. My problem with Davey is he refuses to man up, he gets lost and finds himself constantly chasing. If we would just man up his man wouldn't be an option. Sorry Davey needs to be in our past, I have been a fan but he just doesn't offer what is needed. Time to give Blease the role for 4 weeks, he is the future and needs to be given the opportunity.
  3. Only if it makes a difference, I have a reserved seat and as posted due to the lack of care from the MCC staff and this is every week not just Friday we had Hawthorn supporters, we have every week people sitting in the wrong seats, they move to other seats that aren't theres to be moved on again.
  4. I can't believe people have Davey in their teams, he is done.
  5. Col Sylvia gets another chance but as a midfielder, to me Col has never played well as a perminent forward. His best games for the club have been through the midfield. He needs to be around the footy, start him in the middle and rest him up forward. My Changes In Jurrah, Watts, Blease, Martin Out Davey, Fitzpatrick, Bail, Bate Line up Bartram Frawley Rivers Garland McDonald Bennell Trengove Sylvia Grimes Howe Watts Blease Jurrah Clark Martin Jamar Jones Magner Morton McKenzie Moloney Petterd To me that is the best 22 we can field at the moment
  6. It was the same on level 2 in the Olymipic stand, I don't mind opposition supporters sitting with us, as long as they are respectful of where they are sitting. If you take a guest on your membership sit in the designated area with your quest. On Friday night the staff that should have been policing the seating on Level 2 Olympic didn't check anyone for tickets even entry through into the Betty Cuthburt Room, anyone could have walked in. I got that frustrated with some peanut jumping out of his chair turning around and giving it to all the Melbourne supporters, that I approached an MCC suited employees complained about all the Hawthorn supporters in our reserved seat area particularly the 5 or 6 blokes giving it to us, to be told in an extremely rude manner that it was our fault more likely we gave them the tickets. To this I didn't respond well and told the employee who was a senior employee with a couple of younger staff that he should do his stuffen job and go check their tickets, to which he decided not to respond. I will be sending an e-mail to the club today, I pay good money to sit where I do. This wasn't a club issue this was the MCC staff not doing their jobs.
  7. Lets say at best we finish 14th, we get pick 5,6 and around 12. Pick 5 will be for Viney, we then have pick 6, 12, and about 30 to either use at the trade table or to add three more players at draft time. We are in a strong postion, plus if Moloney or Jamar take up free agency you will be looking at Mid first round picks compensation, All Australian Ruckman and Club B&F, hate to see them go but IMO we would get better compensation if they left as free agents rather than the trading system. As mention hate to see them go but the club may say Listen Mark/Brent great servents of MFC if you want you chance to play finals footy at another club we will not stand in your way, we can not guarentee finals, and we are more likely 3-5 years away from being a top 4 team. Losing these 2 players under free agency would make us a better team in 3-5 years.
  8. I agree with this and in form these players do make us a better team. The issue is besides Gysberts(injuried) we don't have any midfielders that you would consider even close to our best 18.
  9. I thought the same. What we have that only the Bulldogs, GWS and GC may be able to trump is early draft picks. A player and pick 20 will not get Dangerfield or Boak, both clubs will want at least a top 5 pick. Or a top 10 pick with a player but it would be a player and Adelaide aren't stupid to trade for a bloke coming off a knee.
  10. If only we had midfielders that can get the ball inside 50m. There would have been a few games over the past 3 years that our AFL forward line was these 5 guys. Add Blease and Tappy to the other hff and you have a second forward line. Dunn Watts Martin Jurrah Green
  11. Just read through Cale Morton's interview on the MFC site, it gives you an insite to what our club is like now and what is was like. These young talented guys we have on our list have not been coached, managed, driven at anywhere near AFL standards. It is only now with the new coaching team these players are learning what is required to give them a chance to be the best AFL players they can.
  12. Reading Cales comments gives you an understanding on why all our early picks haven't lived up to their junior talent. It makes the past seem a complete mess that hoped that talent alone would take us forward.
  13. It is, but I can't recall when we last beat Geelong, Collingwood, Carlton, North. Besides Essendon and Richmond the only other teams I remember beating are St Kilda 2006 final and Western Bulldogs in 2007 the most selfish game of footy we have every won, if we had lost that there would be no Nick Nat v Jack Watts argument we would have them both.
  14. 2010 midyear we looked good then the rain came down and I think we only got done by 21 odd points See what Hawthorn have even done to us loyal MFC supporters they have smashed us into submission. The Yellow and poo brown supporters will walk into our MCG on Friday night knowing they have us beaten on and off the field. Hawthorn started our rot and it is the time we stopped it.
  15. Jack is also a left footer, we have no one in our midfield that is a left footer. Can someone tell me of the other top 5 young midfielders that will be drafted at years end that are left footers.
  16. Harcourt, this kid will be drafted with in the top 10 players this year. Try to imagine Marc Murphy in a Melbourne jumper Jack is the same type of player but harder and yes I have seen him play a number of times. We will not lose out, he may cost us 3-4 picks tops but don't forget we still have the pick after.
  17. Not only did Mick speak well it seemed he had a clear understanding on where our club is at and what we are working on. He even gave Watts a pump up, bit different to pre-season
  18. I must admit I have a hatred for Hawthorn, really the only club in the AFL I really Hate. This stems back to late 80's, then into the 90's and has been really highlighted over the past 5 years. To me Hawthorn are our school yard bully, they pick on us, intimidate us, bash us and their ex president had no problem sinking the boots into us. I remember 5 years ago walking to the MCG, Dean Bailey's first game as coach, Cale Mortons first game as player, we still had some old names on our list that gave us some hope that 2007 was just a bad year these guys are good players we keep them fit and who knows maybe back into the top 8. 15mins into the first our year was over, they smashed us, they distroyed any confidence our players had and this was the start of the rebuild. We realised that for our older players that was it and more concerning we didn't have anyone coming through. Last year I still believe that our second quarter against the Hawks was the best we have played in 6 years, again hope at half time that was destroyed by the 15min mark of the third quarter that was the start of the end for Dean Bailey. If there is any week I would love our team to go down swinging it is on Friday night, I don't care if players miss weeks through suspension, we have to stand up to our bullies, someone take to Buddy he struts around like Mick Jagger when he palys the team he once barracked for, the Chucker Sam Mitchell puff his chest out and seems to know that he can drop the ball throw the ball and will never be penalized against Melbourne. Jorden Lewis plays like he is 10 foot 2 agasinst Melbourne, Roili has feasted on us, their young kids Brucest, Smith, Shoenmakers, Suckling and co are in on the bullying. I hate Hawthorn and I can't wait for the day when we finally stand up to them
  19. I think there is two sides to speed, one is the foot speed of your players and agree we look slow, but the most important is the speed you move the footy. We look slow more to the fact we aren't spreading well. I heard someone on the week end in the media mention this is phase two, phase 1 was for our players to win more contested footy, phase 2 was learning to spread again. Mick Malthouse was big on this on Saturday, once we get confidence that we will win the contested footy we won't need multiple players at the same contest we will back our team mates to win the footy and run to the space to create an option. To me we are getting burnt on the outside more because we are flat footed around the contest allowing oppostion players on the outside un manned, as soon as we lose the footy they break away and we look slow. Soon we will see our players on the outside and hopefully making our opponents look slow
  20. What a postive 3 young tall forwards kicking 10 goals between them.
  21. Binman, can I get this right Watts doesn't get a recall based on laying 1 tackle even knowing he had it 20 times and kicked 4 goals, but we keep Bail in that played as that pressure small forward and layed 1 tackle kicked no goals and had it 7 or 8 times.
  22. In no way should Martin come straight back in he is not that good of player to have 3 weeks off and play straight away. What are the Hawks weakness, back line and tall backs, my line up Davey Clark Fitzpatrick Dunn Watts Howe Sylvia Jones Grimes Bennell Rivers Garland Bartram Frawley McDonald Jamar Moloney McKenzie Magner, Trengove, Morton Bate In Fitzpatrick, Watts, Bennell Out Bail, Sellar, Tapscott The Outs Bail is being played the second small forward, to lay 1 tackle and offer little needs to go back Sellar spud, go back with the initial plan to play him down back Tapscott something going on here, I thought he was good on Saturday but subbed off didn't look to happy The Ins Fitzpatrick rucked well in preseason and on all accounts is playing good footy at Casey Watts Lucky return more about Hawthorns backline they can cover midsize players but we can stretch them with Clark, Watts and the resting ruckman Bennell he has been good at Casey we need some leg speed of half back
  23. Being a young tall or any young player you need to have confidence. With Jack I have no problem with the contests in the air, would love to see him take a some good strong pack marks but to me this year he hasn't been beaten in the air, on most occasions he has been able to get the ball to ground. He still gets out positioned not the same as past years but you still see this which makes him look bad when it happens, to me it's not a strenght thing it is his initial postioning and timing. His tackling is the biggest issue he just doesn't stick tackles, once again this is not a strength issue this is technique, he tries to tackle with his hands rather than really attacking with his shoulders and arms, he trys to grab people rather than the big aggressive tackle. Playing at VFL level smaller bodied players he needs to impose himself, watch Jack Viney he tackles to hurt, this is what we want to see from Jack Watts tomorrow crash packs and tackle to hurt so the next time someone backs into your space they duck the head or go in half hearted. This is the big difference between Jack Watts and Mitch Clark, Mitch wants to hurt someone and knows in doing this he might get hurt, Jack just doesn't. He will be a very good player for us but he may not be the type of player we thought he was when we drafted him. If he can get his hardness and fitness right to me he will be an Adam Goodes type of player.
  24. It would be great to get this guy but what do you give up? our first compo pick likly to be 3-5, our second compo pick plus a player lets go with Tapscott, for me an ideal trade would be second Compo pick Col Sylvia for Dangerfield and a second round pick.
  25. For all those questioning why we have committed to Jack, the benefits are 1) He has completed an AFL pre-season with out being on an AFL list 2) He gets to play for Casey and 3) we get a player that would have been drafted in the top 10 so matter were we finish we get him 4) He will start preseason at the start of pre-season 2012, slightly modified until after exams and not wait until Draft day.
