Fremantle could be playing for 6th spot and a home final, if Geelong lose to Sydney, Fremantle will get us by 100 points. If Geelong win, they will take the foot off and beat us by 60 points
-
Simple, we need to be Competitive. We have heard the word from Bailey and it has been passed onto Neeld and no mater how many times they said it the bottom line is we are not competitive for long enough. I'm tired of going to games that are over by Half time. We all accept that we will lose games, but to walk away disappointed with our teams inability to compete from quarter to quarter for 6 years is soul destroying.
-
You have a very short memory, Col Sylvia's best games for the club have been against Collingwood and Hawthorn and he always plays well against these two clubs. You watch every game, the games he plays well are the games he spends most his time in the midfield, hopefully he gets a full pre-season no injuries through the year.
-
No not at all I understand that some by a membership and either can't make the game or any games, it is still a great way to support the club. If a third of our members didn't attend no issue but it was two thirds for our last game in Melbourne and the last game for our club for a bloke that has given his all for 13 years that is more disappointing than a club song being played.
-
Not enough to show up, we would have been lucky to have 14,000 supporters there, it was a disgrace, we whack the MCC but two thirds of our members didn't even show up.
-
Watts look like a school boy last night, he spent a lot of time on the bench in the last, don't be supprised if he doesn't play next week not form related, I think his ankle was troubling him in the last.
-
His foot injury will still be bothering him, you can play with it but it hurts. What I notice with Frawley last night he was out muscled a couple of times by Walker and after that he avoided body contact. Didn't help that most of Adelaides Goals game from our turnovers and Walker had an open 50m arc to work in.
-
Who cares, it's no worse than the dis-respect his team mates showed with their performance and the 25,000 members that didn't show up.
-
Also Collingwood had to go cap in hand to Richard Pratt a few years back, Carlton certainly have, Hawthorn owe a lot to Ian Dicker and Geelong to Frank Costa, the three Premiership teams since 2007 have all needed someone to bail them out over the past 15 years.

Fan I agree and if what others are posting than Schwab made his point about Bailey that the board may have rejected at the time, Schwab as a CEO was doing what has in the best interest of the business. Our members and supporters have contrbuted to the club, but most clubs have had the White Knights over the past 10 years contribute large cash to them. We are fortunate to have many white knights that continue to support our club financially. With out Dicker Hawthorn wouldn't be in the position they are, add Pratt for both Carlton and Collingwood, Costa for Geelong, Smorgon for the Bulldogs, Richmond has copied Melbourne in their efforts to raise funds. This has to be stop gap measure and you are right we need to get the on field performing to generate the revenue to replace what we currently receive from the AFL and our Foundation Members.
-
Cam Schwab is employed to run a business, and the business of the MFC off field has been profitable and on face value looking like it is heading in the right direction. The only part of the MFC that has under performed has been on field and to take the business forward this is a very important component. If I was the CEO of the MFC you would have been applying heat to your football department to perform. A better on field performance would have pushed our membership above 40K, increased our attendances, better attracted more revenue from sponsers, get more prime time games. Our club off field has performed exeptional well to maintain memberships in fact increase until this year, we have the worst home draw possible with 6 home games against interstate clubs, plus the bulldogs and credit to those who turn up as per the average attendance we have only dropped slightly. To make the finals would add over 1 million dollars to our revenue, from the increased memberships and gate receipts alone.
-
Agree Rhino, which will be a big shame. Since the agreement we have made the finals each year to exit in straight sets, wouldn't it be great for the club to supply all available players and have a real crack at winning the flag. Saying that, there wouldn't be to many players that played on Saturday that would be eligible, Spencer, Strauss, Jetta, Couch come to mind. From memory wasn't that the start of an era for Geelong, winning the VFL flag in the early mid 2000's with a heap of young developing players.

Not just lose the game, lose by 186 points, really kiss this year good bye.
-
Round 23 Fremantle V Melbourne, Fremantle need a big win to ensure Carlton don't make the 8. With the recent comments of a Carlton player and the recent poor history between us, I'm for Melbourne doing everything in its power to ensure Carlton doesn't make the 8. With Essendon and Carlton not playing finals and hopefully the Pies out in straight sets, this would make coming to work a little bit easier.

The big concern we have is our ball winners don't win enough football, we will only have two players averaging over 20 touches per game, Jones and Grimes, no player averaging over 25 touches per game
-
Thats my position, we have seen improvement from 5-6 players but on the flip side we have seen 5-6 players really fall away. Our midfield shows no signs of improving, our transition from Back to Forward looks bad and our inability to keep the ball inside our attacking 50m arc is still a major concern. But once again the tease is there, if we can get a full pre-season into most our players, if we can get our best 22 fit and playing well, I think we are in a better place than at the end of 2011. Besides Jones, Howe and McDonald most other players have teased us with inconsistant good performances, there hasn't been to many games when the team has played well as a team.
-
To me the improvement of Jones, Howe and McDonald, these three guys are the stand outs for me and this started from day one of pre-season. All three highlight the importance of having good pre-seasons, Jones was always working at the front with McDonald and Howe not to far behind them. Hopefully come November we can get full pre-seasons into Sylvia, Tapscott, Grimes, McKenzie, Strauss and Jurrah plus get another full preseason into all our young players. I still don't think we are to far off, we need continued improvement and with some luck, luck with keeping players fit through pre-season, a bit of confidence and adding 6-7 players I still feal we push up the ladder next year and be playing finals by 2014.
-
Theo, he averages 12 possessions because he has spent most of his time playing as a small forward, he is not a small forward and will show his true value once we can release him in our midfield or our backline.
-
I watch the game a couple of times , just because Sunday Footy who cares about Richmand V Bulldogs, to me Col Sylvia is at best as a midfielder rersting forward, for the first three quarters on Saturday he seemed to me a forward and was only released to play in the midfield in the last. We need Col playing most his time in the middle, we have Moloney going backwards and most likely will be at Casey this week, Jones playing well, we need Col to be that second big bodied midfielder.

Once again trade him for what, say we only get pick 16 for Colin, do you take this, you only trade a player if it will benefit the club. -

I agree, we need to hightlight to the AFL past B&F, VC, 3-4 years to play, we are [censored] please give us pick 21 for him, on the open market we would get pick 30+ for him. This then leaves us with 5 picks inside 25, one to be used on Viney the rest either trade for players or introduce another 4 kids. I hate what the AFL has become, unfortunately both players and clubs need to be selfish and do what is best for them. It will leave members asking why, some clubs will win some will lose, some supporters will not understand some will. Moloney will be a big example of this, to improve our team if we can get a pick inside 25 for him the club should take it, on the flip side if Moloney gets a chance to go to a top 6 team and to finish of his AFL life playing finals he should go. I hope Green does play next year and play finals, it will be sad to see him in another clubs jumper but finals are what they play for and what we as supporters want to watch so both parties club and player have to do what they can to play in finals. -
I think McDonald has offically retired, no way Green will go to GWS, but I can see him running around in an Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood or even a Fremantle Jumper next year. Green would be great value as a third or Fourth forward in a team that should be playing finals next year

Make it Trade month, basically the whole of October is the trade window. -
To see Gysberts spend most of his time working off Half forward last week highlights where the club rates his fitness. Any person that visited pre-season in Nov-Jan saw Gysberts a midfielder running in the last group. He has a huge pre-season in front of him he needs to be running in the first dozen to earn his spot in our midfield.

The same could be said about Jetta, injured all pre-season, gets injured first game back, long rehab a couple of games at Casey back in the team and again poor game against North gets 1 week then straight back. I love Jetta's attack on the footy and the man hope he gets another 2 years. The rest we have to wait and see, the club would be be considering what they would get if Moloney went as a free agent, if we could get end of first round pick for Moloney you would almost take that. Anything less we would be better off with Moloney on our list. I find it a little concerning that this information is out in the public domain, every interview or article that has quotes from a Melbourne Official they clearly state "we will not comment on player contract negotiations" you hope that this is player agent driven and the information has come from there and not from the club.
