  1. Interesting. Fact? I was kind of hoping Scott West would be considered for the midfield position. Anyway....
  2. Absolute joke if true. Not a Grand Prix fan either.
  3. Sure, the best thing is we won't have to worry about it until pick 17. He would be considered a very good pick up at 17.
  4. Me too. They should do it live 'prime time' on tv - about 7:30pm, it would rate through the roof if they built it up. The suspense, drama and emotion of the young kids being picked would be compelling. My picks:- 1 - Watts 17 - TBC 19 - TBC 35 - TBC 51 - TBC
  5. Correct joeboy. Saints love their morning Latte's in Brighton on a nice day. They love the good life. Their employer should say where they work and where to travel, so too at the Dees.
  6. Yes, he did show maturity and a cool head, but he wanted to remain in Melbourne and to stay close to his family. He was looking forward to being coached under Pagan too at the time. Yet it does seem strange that by mid Oct, Carlton have still not reportedly signed their No.1 draft pick from 2005. Something has definitely happened because Carlton were close to signing and finalising his contract when they were trying to get Fev's signature. Add to that securing Warnock in the trade period....suddenly the salary cap? They've reportedly backed off O'Keefe, why? Salary Cap? Murphy has a good head on his shoulders, he's in business. He and his manager would know his market value. You're probably right maybe he is not happy with his offer from Carlton...at all? Finished 2nd in their B&F to Judd, maybe there is a squeeze going on. Murphy will do what is best for himself Hannabal. Much like he did back in 2005 and said no to the Lions after they'd won 3 premierships and went to a crud team in Carlton full of has beens like Digby Morrell. Do you think history repeats itself? Who knows, we may have more candy available for him!?
  7. More than likely. I lost you when you started, "this must be really silly but im wandering..." - you certainly 'wandered' into unchartered territory in this case (ie. 1 year contract).
  8. Whilst I don't agree that he clearly got it wrong, as this 2007 season has panned out I believe it needs re-addressing. It's an important issue Bailey needs to get right. I would be interested to know if the football department ask for opinions from their peers in the AFL ranks. From an external perspective. As well as what they know from the inner sanctum.

    Ouch...

Firstly, there is no choice of mediocrity or bottoming out, at the end of the day a team is only as good as their list. Secondly, Hawthorn didn't have that luxury of 'mediocrity' because of the success of the 80's up to '91 - that's nonsense - they're list over time changed. Hawthorn copped the same sort of backlash for their performances when Schwab and Judge was coaching. Finally, there will be a collective effort next year to improve and play to win. Where we end up will be as only as good as our list allows it to. Now if thats in 13th, 15th or 16th position, so be it. As long as there are signs of a young developing list advancing - having turned the corner - we should all look forward to further improvement. It may be mediocrity to you, but it might be a vast improvement on '07 at least. If you're wanting finals next year for the Dees- fingers crossed. But don't put your house on it, otherwise you will lose it.
  10. Yes great batsman, one of the best of all time, if not the best (next to the Don of course). Siddle just got him caught in slip off a great catch from Matthew Hayden for I think 88. Congrats to Tendulkar on his achievement. Congrats to Hayden on a fantastic catch, and congrats to Siddle on first Test wicket. That's a big scalp. Bill Lawry would be over the moon as a Victorian. White gets his 1st test wicket in the 1st Test of Tendulkar, Siddle his 1st Test wicket in the 2nd Test - none other than Tendulkar. They're both Victorian to boot!! Go Vics!
  11. Y_M if Marc came to the Dees, you would change your name to Murph Magic as soon as it became official.
  12. I got pummelled into submission two days ago with regard to Marc Murphy's kicking efficiency. Personally, if he made himself available for the PSD, he's our man. Perfect fit for the blueprint too - age wise. Looking forward to Neita3000's comments on this one....... It would certainly be pleasing to get one back on Carlton...fingers crossed anyway
  13. Bruce & Green? Really? Enlighten me....and save yourself the finishing 1st and 3rd in the B&F jargen! McLean hasn't done enough? What else do you have to do? Even Bruce & Green had inconsistent seasons. Bruce finished off the season better than he started, and Green vice versa. McLean would have been that far in front after Round 14, its not funny.
  14. An investment of $600K of community involvement every year for 30 years is a decision not to be taken too lightly. Obviously the mfc would like to tweak this a bit to satisfy the bottom line. Here's hoping they can work it out for what is best. Not sure if today will be D-Day as Schwab indicated the club wants more time to weigh up the ramifications. Hopefully the council agrees to this point of the mfc, as it clearly is something the mfc needs, much to our frustration as members and supporters of this great club.
  15. I know what you're on about... to add to that fwiw, it's quite possible 5-7 wins in a season could get you pick anywhere between 2 and 5. Its all dependant upon the make up of the bottom teams and how many wins they have. For example, Port will get pick 4 this year after having 5 or more wins. Or if there is only one side to finish below the 5 wins next year, 15th position can get the 2nd pick.
  16. No doubt Bails has learnt what is required in this caper. Lesson No.1 - The need to be 'competitive' on a consistent basis. But I'm sure you already knew that...
  17. If it involves removal of hair, G.Lyon would support it.
  18. Certainly was. Maher is very frustrating when asking questions. He asks the questions and almost answers it himself sometimes in the process before an answer can come from the person he is interviewing. Nothing new from Bailey.

    Fabian Deluca

Goes missing too often? I thought his career had finished - he went missing that much.
  20. Round 22, Western Oval. Sunny day, warm, about 23C. Slight northerly wind. approx.4:45pm.

    Ross Monaghan

That is interesting, were you able to dismantle his head from up his ...ummm..[censored]
  22. Coll - Nick Maxwell - tipped to be appointed Carl - Chris Judd 24 Ess - David Hille To name a few. But Bobby, every side is at a different stage. Chris Judd was a captain for West Coast when they won a premiership. StKilda had given players an opportunity as captain at a young age. Look there is nothing wrong with going with the status quo, but with all the changes happening its a prime opportunity to get a year into a young up & coming leader in McLean. He's been around a while now McLean and is currently our strongest as well as best player.
  23. No...same here..weird that
  24. It's also a bit of a concern when three players from the Bulldogs were tested on 3 occassions over the period of a year - and allegedly no other Bulldog player was tested in the same period. -ref: Jason Akermanis.
  25. Agree. That article is just based on who is currently captain. In fact a more accurate article would have had "Co-Captain Cameron Bruce". As for next season, 2009. I believe the club should make a statement- enough of this already debate that McLean is not ready or has had off field discretions, those issues are long gone. I believe the mfc's statement to the football world should be - having been through one of, if not the worst year for the club - to present a new Leader, Brock McLean. It's an inspired choice. A fresh start. A new young group of players. A new Dawn. A new Era. We have had the early start to training. We will have our new draft picks on board including No.1 Jack Watts. We will have PSD no.1 on board. We will have new sponsors. We will have a new summer training base. We will have a new clash jumper. And IMO we SHOULD have a new leader with a strong on-field presence - along with a STRONG name in Brock McLean. Now if these aren't all good reasons - even for potentially new sponsors to jump on board - for the mfc club to make a stand and gain some respect back along with a strong showing on the field....well then I'm an aunty's uncle!
