you have to ask? -
i've always thought harmsey had the right foundations - effort, toughness and attitude - just needed more poise and clean up a few minor skill areas which would come with more games, but i must say his improvement in the second half of this season has exceeded my expectations/hopes he's now an A grader (if he keeps it up and there is no reason he shouldn't)

tmac should have made squad of 40. still played 17 games and his goal average was about the same as riewoldts ended up with 48 goals and tons of score assists and involvements demons weren't the highest point scoring club in the comp for nothing and deserved a fwd in the squad

it's even worse now, moonie, the losing club gets an afl compensation pick which is really a pick "paid" by all the other clubs as they all effectively get pushed down the draft list. the afl needs to provide some "penalty" to the receiving club (if a top 8 club) in either a loss of draft points (a'la father son, academy) or a reduction in salary cap. It is too much of a golden egg to the top clubs

my view is simply that the standard of umpiring is below what i expect of such a professional sport and needs improvements it's not all the umpires fault per se, but the whole system from the afl's rules administration, the afl's week to week interference with umpiring, the umpiring dept administration and the fact we have part time umpires in a full-time professional multi billion dollar industry we can do better and we should always strive to do better, it's not that hard to understand
