Explain to us how you train to stop contact injuries. Tapscott is the only player on our list with a soft tissue injury. I'd say the medical staff are doing very well.

I only wish Bailey had hopped up at the Press conference with some footage of gartlett and betts non committal to contests on Friday night. Then just to finish it off he could have shown footage of judd eye gouging and commented that it wasn't tough either. See you in round 20 scumbags.
-
I'd play Scully and sub him off. If Bartram is still injured then Nicholson gets another run. I'd play Maric as we're going to need to develop a small forward plus we need to know who to delist at years end. Strauss is a yes as we need to have some good disposal from defence. Let's hope the Newton experiment is over.

Certainly sounds better than doing what we're doing at the moment. FFS we got called soft by Mitch Robinson who I watched king hit Rohan Bail in a VFL game at Princess Park. Personally I find that far softer than not putting your body on the line but that's me. He's not tough just way short of a 6 pack. He needs to get crunched repeatedly in Round 20 and when the sniper Judd steps in we need someone to miss the last couple of games buy putting him flat on the floor. Oh we also need to win that game more than any other this season. He needs to regret he ever mentioned the word soft about our club. If I was the coach I'd have it on the wall in the gym for the rest of the season. Make no mistake we can't keep being the whipping boys. The whole line is the sand shite is not my cup of tea but this Friday night is an incredibly important game for this group and this club. I don't want to hear some rubbish on twitter about making a stand I actually want them to play football like it was designed to be played, hard, tough, skilled and fair. The media are creating an ugly image of this club, one that will stick in people's minds if we don't eradicate it. Injuries are a factor but surely we can just go back to man on man and tell each player to do whatever it takes to beat their direct opponent. Tackle, harrass, pester, get in their ear, niggle, step on their boots, dive harder at the ball and more often, generally play with some serious passion for the jumper and themselves. The bombers are well beatable. They've stolen our home game so lets send them packing with some serious bruises and let folks now we understand our first 10 rounds weren't good enough. As for Frawley, stop your sooking and lead by example because personally I thought some of your efforts of friday were pathetic and you're better than that.(Twitter that brother!!)

Malthouse won't be cheap/Gary Lyon on Bailey article
Roost It replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
Personally I'd move Connolly into a part time board member to liase between the board and the FD.Then I'd get the chequebook out and chase the best FD people in the business. -
He'll be back possibly not until next year. Davey will probably go visit while he recovers from knee surgery.

Dean Bailey, I hope you're watching

Hey Artie. I think the other problem many of us have with Bailey beyond his lack of press is the fact we play run and spread without actually running hard or spreading well. Add to this our lack of intensity for the contest and that's a recipe for what we are serving up at the moment. One other thing on injuries. It's long proven that those that do the hitting and crunching are alot less likely to get injured than those that cop the hits and crunches. Interesting that Melbourne and Brisbane wallow at the bottom with broken lists whilst Geelong, Collingwood and Hawthorn sit up the top with short injury lists. I realise we're young but that doesn't mean we can't play to a sound plan and hit the contest with vigour. Do you think we'd play this way if Roos was our coach. -
Let it go. There's not a player going around who hasn't heard footsteps. He's been a champion of the club and deserves more respect than you give him.
-
It's just silly now. Personally I'd stop playing Warnock, Bate, Dunn, Newton, send Morton and Bennell to Casey and bring in the youngsters. At least the team will have a crack.
-
Like the one he played on Goodes in Canberra.
-
We need a good forward coach not an ex champion player...2 different things.
-
Morton is a very talented player who is tragically down on form and confidence which is why he was playing at Casey. He needs to stay at Casey for 5 to 6 weeks playing the same role. The same goes for Bennell. Bringing him in underdone to a seniors team also down on form and confidence isn't a good plan and was only done due to injuries. With the return of Trengove, Scully, Bartram and possibly Davey, Morton needs Casey time. He needs to be given a role and coached to perform that role well each week. For mine he's the perfect wing/half forward player. He doesn't need to bash and crash as long as he's prepared to go when he's required to do so. The FD will not trade Morton unless a suitable trade can be done. Would I trade him for Rioli or Dangerfield. I can't so why worry about it. YEESH!!!

I thought we were the transition kings

Green - had a go Warnock - oh my god Jones - C grader Watts - will be leader Gysberts - quite Bate - what happened? Bennell - early form gone Frawley - fast losing interest Morton - needs a coach Sylvia - thanks again Colin McKenzie - exposed Petterd - pathetic Maric - not much chop Moloney - b- grader Jurrah - must show effort Rivers - solid all night MacDonald - dud Martin - not really sure Jetta - borderline top 22 Newton - fark off Nicholson - back to casey Evans - back to casey Last night made me realize just hoe important our top 6 is to our team.
-
Our lack of an effective Press is a glaring inadequacy of our off season coaching. Personally i don't think Bailey should worry about whether Watts should play on Goddard or not but rather our total lack of an up to date game style. The HS articl yesterday should have read "Oops, I really should have taught the forward press over summer"
-
OUT: Newted, Bate, Bennell, Morton, Hicholson, Warnock, Petterd, Jurrah IN: Gawn (depending on form today), Howe(depending on form today), Blease (depending on form today), Trengove, Scully, Wonaeamirri, Cook, Strauss If we're going to play our second string side, may as well play those who are keen and/or potentially part of our future.
-
Are you serious?
-
Grimes and Garland anyone.

We've beaten no one of consequence. You mention the WC game. What about the Hawthorn game. Had they kicked straight they would have one by 120 points. Then there's the capitulation against North after they handed us 5 early goals. Watch the replay and 5 of our 6 goals came from uncontested errors from North. Against the Saints we saw possibly the worst game of AFL played this year. Adelaide were woeful and are in for an ordinary year, hardly anything to write home about. I'm not crying I just don't see a team with a winning plan or winning attitude. I know we have the talent but it's time for the next level of coaching department. I'll ask you this. Would you be happy to say goodbye to Bailey if one of Roos or Malthouse was available? Don't worry, I know your answer. By the way if that's great detail regarding the WC game you should read more.

I didn't expect much in the way of results this season. What i did expect to see was the club implementing a far more defensive game plan to suit where football is at today. I also expected to see some more heat in the contest and more willingness to hit the pack so to speak. We can talk development all we like, that's what assistant coaches are for. It's Bailey's job to get the team to play to a winning formula with the required intent. I have not seen that this year. If you want to excuse him thanks to a HS article go right ahead. I'll bide my time until Jimmy announces our next coach.
-
WC deploy the forward press, they are very good at it. What did they do to us? Adelaide rolled over, not a good example. They failed to exploit our weaknesses and allowed us to play our front running style of play.
-
Does that mean you'll be drinking alot?
-
Nice article but has everyone forgot the man's lack of a gameplan. I have great respect for what he has done for the club but let's get Roos or Malthouse to coach us now.
-
He's going to GWS
-
Do we offer Sylvia?
