AFLW: Rd 10 vs West Coast
As much as it hurts to say it.......Go Pies!

AFLW: Rd 09 vs Essendon
We need to keep the % up in these next two games.....and the weather forecast isn't all that flash. Could turn into a low scoring slog which will not suit us.

MFC Premiership Rings
The NBA rings: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_championship_ring "Rings are presented to the team's players, coaches, and members of the executive front office" The NFL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_ring "The Super Bowl ring offers a collectable memento for the actual players and team members to keep for themselves to symbolize their victory" If our Board is going to introduce some brassy American idea, they could at least do it the same way as the Yanks.

Training Ground?
Give up SWYL. There is a car park under the stand today. There are railway tracks and a road alongside. The re-development is 5 years away. There is not enough room. Look at the size of the Brisbane facility. Look at the size of the Essendon facility. They are both bigger than the MCG!

And Jayden Hunt who played 20 games in the season and contributed to us getting to the big dance......gets NOTHING!

The Run Home
We just have to keep winning and at least doubling the oppositions score to stay where we are. What Brisbane and Adelaide do is up to them, but I can't stomach barracking for the Pies to win ( yes I can if it means we finish top)

AFLW: Rd 07 vs Western Bulldogs
I was intrigued to see a big improvement in kicking this week, particularly for West, Heath and Mithen. They previously barely could kick 20 m but seem to be getting much more distance, and importantly seem to have been told to put it on the boot rather than looking to handball as first option. Importantly, kicking long has now become the critical part of the territory game, when in previous years, possession was king. And now we have a good number of players who can kick it a long way. Since overhead marking is still a below par skill, the ball doesn't rebound like in the mens game. Better to have it in your forward 50 than risking 3 or 4 handballs to get it there.

The Run Home
And both those teams will lose % next week, because one is not going to double the others score and more.

Love Mackin. For someone playing her first season, she can kic,k mark, bounce the ball and like Goldrick just straightlines everything!

And that is exactly what the current Board have been promising for years, but still nothing to show for it.

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Geelong have done very well in convincing players to take less than their market rate: https://www.sen.com.au/news/2022/09/09/this-is-what-geelong-do-hawkins-shock-2023-salary-revealed/ If this article is correct, then combined with the departure of Selwood, Higgins and Dahlhaus that gives them a good amount to play with to pick up the salary for Bowes. Also apparently the new CBA sees an increase in salary cap for 2023, but I haven't seen figures.

Training Ground?
Not enough room to build indoor facilities, gyms, pools, video rooms, meeting rooms etc that are needed today. And then somewhere for the administration and football departments.

What's next for Adem Yze?
Adem must be very pleased to have dodged a major bullet....... https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/essendon-lost-faith-in-their-new-ceo-how-did-it-come-to-this-20221004-p5bn6x.html https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/new-essendon-boss-andrew-thorburn-quits-one-day-after-appointment-20221004-p5bn6s.html

End of Season Podcast
Next Monday at this stage. Andy busy this week, organising our trades and drafts. We thought it would be better in a weeks time when the trade period is mostly done.

Training Ground?
Really should read the articles before posting. 2018 for Casey. We are not looking for crumbs. Others have had tens of millions given to them to build facilities. And then more to upgrade them. We don’t have one in 2022!!

Farewell Sam Weideman
Yes, or you have to be physically strong like Mumford, Lade, Natanui. Point is today 197cm alone is not enough, especially when you come up against Witts, Natanui, English, Reeves, Lobb & Cox.

Training Ground?
Trouble is this Board has been saying for the past 2 years " we can't say anything yet because of what the government will allow us to say". To date: nothing! Prior to that Glen Bartlett said he would have a training facility before he quit. Nothing, and the same Board is still there. Prior to that.....go back to Ian Ridley when proposing the merger with Hawthorn....we will get a training facility! Go to the 2020-23 MFC strategic plan. Item 5 " start construction of a new Melbourne home base facility" 12 months to go and nothing! So other clubs can "get millions" which are used to refurbish existing facilities, but we don't even have that. The ONLY club in the AFL which doesn't!
