  1. At Hawthorn, Clarko coached from the box. At Melbourne Goodwin from the boundary. What change does that make to the roles/responsibilities for Assistant coaches?
  2. Hope Carlton supporters hopes aren't dashed before we get a home game against them later in the season.
  3. Our game was just as bad. HTB rules changed in this match from that which was applied for the whole season. Non decisions...play on...play on. We need umpires who umpire. Lily Mithen was necked by Davidson, lifted then rag-dolled into the ground. That would incur a multi week suspension in Rugby League, yet all we heard was ...play on!
  4. Also sorry we missed this prior to the show.... I agree with BInmans assessment, and would also add that clearances as a statistic can be meaningless....it is the quality and effectiveness that counts. We have shown multiple times last season that we lost clearances, but easily won the game. And in the GF we saw how quality clearances can rip a game open. Scrubby kicks out of the pack or to the outside do little toward scoring, but they still count as clearances. And in this game the conditions were slippery, so quality from both sides really fell down. Not surprising there appeared to be bees to the honey pot, since neither side could get regular clean possession. Hopefully we will get a better picture in better conditions this week, but at some point in the season, we will encounter the wet, slogging type of game, and like this one if we still win, then that is all that matters.
  5. @Its Time for Back to Backhas been busy in conversation with the Membership department this morning: 54,164
  6. And is there any chance they can find a team of boundary umpires who can throw the ball in further than 5 metres? Every last one of them was delivering short throws. Pity was that our rucks didn’t wake up to it all night…..let alone the field umpires who should have recalled them. Maybe the AFL needs to implement the AFLW method of throwing in 5m inboard of the boundary line?
  7. The boys spotted doing a warm up at Surfers ……. Wife impressed with some of the physique’s on display. Maybe not this one?
  8. Very weak knees at the Kennel. They just keep collapsing beneath them. Still it won them a Premiership, but hasn't got them any further in the subsequent 5 years.
  9. Might happen yet. I would imagine the Dogs Board and also their sponsors, that Bevo took such delight in identifying at the start of the conference would be absolutely seething.
  10. Unbelievable how Beveridge coaches...."tell them to give me more uncontested marks" How in the hell does he expect players to do that? Ask their opponents nicely to keep away? His whole mantra came across as ra, ra rather than tactical But what really stood out for me was Goody's calmness and vision, knowing that the momentum would swing at some point . After Fritta's first goal in the 3rd he says something along the lines of " here we go fellas". Or to TMac...."your chance will come".....Or "tell the forwards to give density in defence" when we needed to deny them. And the plan between him and Burgess to give Gawn just a short stint back in the ruck, before releasing Jackson for those final minutes in the 3rd.
  11. And they are really the SA state side, since Port don't have a team yet. Small wonder they have already won 3 Premierships.
  12. Been there a couple of times. Best to catch the bus from Pacific Fair with plenty of parking. There is none at the ground and what is available down the road is limited. The bus ride is an entertaining ride through the cow paddocks to the ground, and full of singing Demons fans afterward ( since there are no local SUNS fans)
  13. It did last year….it’s the only option for people without phones. Someone else has to print it out for them.
  14. That is the bonus for them, but it creates a nightmare for people who don't have smart phones, disabled or just people trying to organise multiple tickets for family who have to set up individual accounts with Tickemaster/tek just to get the tickets and seats they have paid for. BUT the other advantage is that if there is a revival of COVID restrictions, they can limit the numbers attending since they no longer have a ticket which entitles them to admission.
  15. I have put up 47,667 in the spreadsheet on Page 1. But if the 49K number is correct, then we have signed up 4,500 in the past week?. However, on the numbers published by the club we only signed up 400 from 28 Feb to 7 March, so it is entirely possible that 49,667 is correct.
  16. Same problem here. I can understand the opening round game is not there as the entry codes are meant to be up 72 hours before, but the Carlton game should be there already.
  17. Security staff don’t check the vaccination certificates properly. And you don’t need to QR to have that on your phone. Keep a copy in your Apple wallet.. And the metal detectors are not turned on, and never were. Keys, umbrellas all pass through without a beep. Doesn’t happen at prisons, airports or courts. If you go to SCG , Adelaide and GC none of this is done at all. How lucky we are in Melbourne?
  18. I wish Stinear would just leave Daisy in defence. Like he always does when we are struggling. If we want to beat both Freo and Adelaide, we have to kick goals and lots of them. Bannon and Hore are naturals up forward, and are kicking goals. They are a more dangerous target and complement Tayla . And let's be serious, we won this game courtesy of two 50m penalties.
  19. Before everyone ties themselves in knots or trades Gus out while making ridiculous assertions about his value to the side.... The AFL CBA has clause 4C which states: "c) In the event that the parties are unable to reach agreement on the terms of a new collective bargaining agreement by 30 June 2022 or such later date as agreed between the Parties, either Party may by the giving of 30 days’ notice in writing to the other Party terminate this Agreement provided that such notice shall not take effect before 1 November 2022" To put it simply, the aim of both parties is to have a new agreement in place by mid- year. This is important because this one runs out on 31 October and clubs and players need to know definitively how much they have to spend and earn for the coming years. Gus's manager would be absolutely remiss to tie his player into an arrangement today, since he is highly talented and sought after. By mid-year everyone will have a better idea of how much is on the table ( and it may be less than the current CBA, with the COVID disruptions).
  20. Not worried about Liv....after all she won Geelongs B& F and AA selection at 19!...., just 2 years ago. And don't forget Brisbane played on Thursday night, so they are coming off a 4 day break!!
  21. Clubs like us = all clubs. Docklands would have cost $30 if the AFL had waited for 9 years. And any capital gain would have accrued to the AFL= all clubs. To spend $200-$280 M was a waste of money.= all the clubs money.
