  1. All of the above, and NRL doesn't require facilities of any great measure. Just a gym with the biggest weights possible ( when we first moved into AAMI, I was told the AFL players don't use the biggest barbells, but Storm do). If you have ever seen a NRL side train, it is nothing more than a throw the ball around session, which can be done on a basketball court.
  2. Waverley is a better option than the utter backward stuff we have at the moment. Shared facilities with 2 other sporting codes at AAMI, training on a public oval, or 1 hours drive to the outer fringes, where the ovals are great, but the facilities are still below par. And our current arrangements have the admin in broom closets located in multiple locations in the MCG, far away from the football department. So tick for Waverley, as it is superior to what we have at the moment. But it cannot be a long term solution. 1 ground with time and lighting restrictions due to housing build arround it, right up to the edges. The facility is the old grand-stand, it was never designed to house a football club, with gyms, pools and admin sectors. It is cobbled together, and that is why Hawthorn moved out. It is simply not fit for purpose for 2026. It might have been OK 10 years ago. But Hawthorn have had the foresight to realise that and did something. Caulfield better go ahead.
  3. ....but not only in Melbourne......the AFL owns Docklands stadium. Just use it for every game in Melbourne. No wind, no rain, with lighting for night games, which makes the game for AFLW so much better to watch and execute. 1 location for broadcasters who don't have to shuffle staff and equipment from Casey, to Victoria Park, to Arden st, to Princes park, Dingley etc. Won't have to open the whole stadium, but until the AFL gets serious about the womens game, rather than blaming them for the lack of attendances rather than themselves, we will continue to see the game fail to attract spectators and interest.
  4. Only guessing, but the Collingwood ground would be used as overflow from the AO, and with Big screens set up, similar to across the road. Collingwood then move to Gosch's for their training sessions.
  5. Salary cap is irrelevant, as has been pointed out. You have to pay certain percentages regardless of circumstances. Our problem is we are not using it to pay footballers to play football, or to pay the current players what they are worth. We will be forced to pay 100% just to pay our actual players, and then the ones who aren't playing for many years to come. Retiring players has next to zero effect, as you bring on new players, and others further down the pecking order seek to get increased salary when they come off the low paid rates. We won't be able to "bank" like St.Kilda did. Or to pay "market rates" to those current footballers who are actually on the field. Those players will then go looking for better offers, when the time comes.
  6. Caroline Wilson writes an article criticising Richmond….
  7. But your opinion is absolutely correct! If we go to Waverley and Caulfield is not locked in, then we wil be stuck with the facilities that were rejected by Hawthorn, because they are not up to the standard required in 2026. Collingwood and TA will move fast to fill the space to their advantage.
  8. Gee, there are some really ordinary players filling up the Casey side. Not going to do much for the development of the AFL listed players, when their "team-mates" cannot execute simple football skills.

  11. Effectively YES. The gym is shared with Storm, who need it more than we do ( since their game is all about grunt), so we have to book in.
  12. Easy solution, because like Shannon Neale last night, there will be more PCL injuries. The AFL obviously forgot why they altered the rules the last time. Simply move the dividing line in the centre circle 90 degrees..... That way the ruckman go for the tap alongside each other, not crashing into each other, which causes these knee injuries.

  14. This is what is achievable with a competent Board and administration: https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/this-afl-club-was-described-as-a-carcass-now-it-s-investing-millions-to-build-a-new-suburb-and-secure-its-future-20260224-p5o4x4.html "The now financially transformed club, which faced a $12 million debt towards the end of the COVID-19 pandemic and negative net assets, will on Thursday at Port Adelaide’s annual general meeting announce $70 million worth of assets on their balance sheet". We still dream of having a training base/home after 168 years, while this is what other clubs are doing......
  15. Brilliant!! We could have a whole stable available for use by the players. There are even existing stables there. And I’m sure @Redleg would be happy to provide some of his steeds when not racing?
  16. Like @daisycutter I don't understand what is the problem: Here is the "indicative" proposal: Here is the existing layout: The Glen Eira Tunnel which provides access for cars on race day is a short walk to the left from the headquarters. If a car can drive there then so can the club van with equipment, and players can certainly walk the distance. What is the problem?
  17. Regardless of who played and who didn’t for both sides…North have got serious problems if they play that way in the upcoming season. Time and time again, it was short kick to pocket, another short kick, then kick down the line to where there is always a contest by this time …turnover… Caleb Daniel is a liability, since he has no other option other than short kicks. The result is no movement or attack from their backline. Just accumulates meaningless statistics. Impressed with Heath, who more than held his own against a top 3 ruckman in Xerri. He is definitely advantaged by the new ruck rules. Kentfield should have just written himself a round 1 spot. Rucks, strong mark and can play forward as well. And kicks straight. Howes impressive as well, with Darling, Larkey and Zurhaar totally outclassed by our backs. Again Norths only modus operandi is to kick it long to them and hope they can mark it, because none of them have any mobility. Hopefully we have some better competition next week, so we can make a proper judgement of where we sit.
  18. Copyright risks/cost are the reason we don't use other artists music......
  19. Bugger....one of the most talented to come to our side from Ireland. Hope her sister Aimee isn't feeling the same.....
  20. Other banana facts: The Cavendish banana, which is the one you buy in Coles and Woolworths, was first developed by William Cavendish, the 6th Duke of Devonshire, at Chatsworth House in England. This was because they are resistant to Panama disease. So really bananas come from England! Other useless fact.....an acquaintance who works for Toll transport tells me that each and every day 6 B-double trucks arrive at their warehouse full of bananas to feed to Victorian population through Coles. Just goes to show how much @Redleg is doing for the economy!
  21. Jeffo knee bandage now.....AJ not on ground since first quarter
  22. Blues are obviously the 1st pick side. It's a bit hard to judge the worth when the Whites have no forward or defenders.
  23. I can understand why admin want to move. You only have to see the broom cupboards that they currently have to work in, which are spread across multiple locations at the MCG. Honestly, it is only used because of the peppercorn rental which is charged to us, but given the conditions...it should only be peppercorn. I don't know what the admin conditions at Waverley are like, but the reason Hawthorn are moving is that the FOOTBALL facilities are sub-standard in 2026.
