  1. I think you need to read the statement again in context
  2. You cannot play a footballer in this day and age who is only capable of winning it in the clear.
  3. Agreed, but you can't claim that you have turned the corner when you are half way around the bend. We are the beneficiaries of charity at the moment. There is a long way to go. There is real danger in just expecting that things will go right from here in. I am sure that those in charge of the club know that. I think we have made significant steps toward putting an infrastructure that could achieve success, but as yet we have achieved nothing.
  4. I look forward to talking about the turnaround when it happens.
  5. I don't like comparing players, but there are similarities between their early careers. So many times Jones would get his hands on the footy and try to break clear and get claimed, or attempt an attacking kick that wasn't on. He kept trying to do it and got better. Now he gets clear most times, and he hits targets and picks good options most times. Both strong bodies, both hard nuts, both durable, both driven. The last thing I want to see Jack Viney doing is stop trying to bust through contests with the footy for fear of making a mistake. Viney will be good.
  6. Yep. I like JKH, very good mover. Give him a couple more seasons he will regularly make blokes look silly.
  7. Newton will be a regular in the midfield rotations.
  8. Hard to know how to perceive this game. In the first half the doggies were witches hats and played with no intensity. We were obviously geared up for a solid hit out. That first half did look organised, we played assured footy and players were aware of their roles and seemed capable of playing them. The list is in much better shape with Netwon, Heritier and Garlett filling roles. Still a shallow midfield at this stage as we saw in the 2nd half.
  9. Not allowed under the players EBA I would have thought
  10. Moneider thinks on a different plane to us mortals, he has telepathic capabilities.
  11. I think we were always aiming for September. We just had crap shots aiming at a moving target.
  12. Self reflection is important. Best get a diary.
  13. You can't predict what is going to happen in three years time with any certainty let alone ten. History shows that there will be unexpected successes and failures.
  14. The great 2015 gazebo heist. Club survives Norm Smith, Barassi, Mergers, Prendergast, Neeld, Tanking. Finally brought undone by gazebo expenditure.
  15. Either that or you get busted just before your crop can be harvested and it all gets burned.
  16. It's not a hard thing to get right and it did damage. No one said that the club had "no hope" I would find it offensive if I were one of the ones put out and someone told me that I had no right to be annoyed. The club needs to apologise, compensate the fans in some way with some sort of gesture, and ensure that these events are managed properly in the future.
  17. We clearly have a lot of work to do in this area. Surely it can't be that hard.
  18. If you can't legitimately evaluate yourself when you are poor, how do you improve. I would like newbies to think that we are not on the grass and everything hasn't been fine and dandy.
  19. We are Melbourne supporters. There is now a unit dedicated to Dees supporters at Uni.
  20. Jones does a few nice things a game, but I honestly think he is too limited to be a regular midfield rotation option. He lets us down in poor disposal by hand, lack of penetration by foot, poor strength around the footy and a fair bit of poor decision making under pressure. Yes I know he and Terlich came 4th and 3rd in our B and F in 2013, that was a reflection on how poor our list was rather than how good they are.
  21. The difference is if I criticise a player it is because he is one of the "easy targets" or because I am "glass half empty" or I am a "player basher" If you do it it is legitimate because you have have had a few words with Christian Salem now and then about the soccer. I know that you won't get it, never have, never will. I would not give you the credit to be able to hold an objective discussion about footy, you'd probably call me a "lemon sucker". You are incapable of objectivity. You have said it yourself. I am over your bullying and elevated sense of importance.
  22. Do you realise how ridiculous you sound when you post? Basically the premise of nearly everything you post is that you are allowed to express your opinion but others are not. Alas though, you will not see it or understand.
  23. That is exactly how I saw it. He made some errors but I certainly didn't see the poor game that others saw. He looked like someone who was trying desperately to make things happen. He is three years behind Watts. He is at least putting his head over it and playing with intensity. The other stuff will come.
  24. That isn't a ridiculous suggestion. That was our biggest failing in the game, while we went forward enthusiatically, we still looked all over the shop in our process. Roos has refered to it a number of times. He is satisfied with our improvement in our defensive efforts last season but knows that we need to attack more intently. This season we will be about getting the combination right. We were trying it last night, it wasn't coming off a lot of the time but the intent was there. I was just rapt to see our boys really lift our inside game. If we can become consistent in that area then we should mostly avoid blowouts and give ourselves a chance in most games.
