Speed lacking, both off half back and in the midfield. Clearances, contests and class should be improved.

He was a physically and mentally soft footballer, but this incident is not evidence of same. And I'm with cbf on the pics.

outside player, average speed, poor skills Not an AFL player
-
Yes, wait was that one too?

It's raining... but there is no parade.

He would be a waste of a pick. He will not be coming to Roos' Melbourne.

Clisby is best 22 and is exactly the type of player we need. Will become important. -

Clisby upgraded was necessary. Looking at everyone's round 1 teams the sides looked decidedly slow. We could throw more time at Stark and Taggert and still get nothing. This recruiting dept backs itself to get better players. Jetta and Nicholson lucky at this stage, Blease gets a chance to provide some needed run. -
Feargal Febey, Regis McDonald.

Saw him playing early on and he had strong hands. I thought he would become a decent player. Perhaps too limited.

I am sick of talking about the bloke but there would not be a footballer who has had more excuses made for him than this bloke. He is tentative because he is tentative, not because someone made him tentative.
-
I'm not sure who we will pick, but they won't be sexy. Just honest young footballers to play a role.
-
He feels the need, the need for match payments.
-
Bloke can kick goals and that's nice. How many goals will be leaked getting hurt the other way? And is he the sort of character to work hard on his game and add a defensive component. If the evidence suggests that he won't then he won't be selected by a Roos lead club.

Rookie chance?

How much football have Demonland members played?
jabberwocky replied to Nasher's topic in Melbourne Demons
I played on a bloke called Knight who played for Old Brighton in the U19s back in about 89/90. Was a freak, I was convinced that he would kick on but never heard of him again. Anyone know of him? -

Not sure but can't see him becoming a midfielder in a clearance contested sense. Half back or wing if he is good enough. -
I think that's overstated....we have far softer. He is very small and pushed off easily. He lays tackles. Depends on what Roos plan is, definitely worth a look. Some have said that we won't fill all the holes in our list this off season, we probably won't but I think Taylor and Roos will try and give it a fair shake.

Roos is conservative and keeps things simple. It comes through all his decision making. That is drafting, trading, game strategy. Employing known quantities with a similar ethos is consistent with all of that. Jobs for the boys is fine, as long as they are considered the best boys for the jobs. When jobs are handed out to yes men, back scratchers and due to political allegiances then I would be concerned. We can't test that these jobs were given out in the right spirit but we can judge Roos on the character he has displayed and his results to date. Which is why I am comfortable that the appointments have been made in the best interests of the club.

Great stuff deeman ^^. Probably the last few post reminds us that Demonland doesnt have to be a place where grumpy old has beens come to whinge. We need a blend of youth and experience. Great thread nasher. -

Many years of junior footy. U19 amateurs then a couple of years A grade before work took over. Went up to the bush in my late 20s and played and ended up an assistant coach. Now coaching an u14 team in which next season both my boys will be playing. And both have immeasurably more talent than thier old man. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
jabberwocky replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yes Neeld was a terrible coach and lost the players, as a result a couple of required players left. The list changes that were made in those years aren't as bad as some make out. Most of the delistings weren't regrettable. Byrnes for 2 and Pedersen for 3 are. If you want to look for the nucleus of our failure you can't go past Bailey's failure to understand the direction of the game and Prendergast's disastrous recruiting. -
Makes sense.
