St. Kilda v Melbourne - Match Preview & Team Selection
jabberwocky replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Disappointing side for round 1 for mine, too many players not AFL standard. No fault of anyone, we can only work with what we have. -
Put the troll on ignore. Go to manage ignore preferences

That's why you blokes get the big bucks. Kinda partly right though, I'll discount my fee. -

On the balance of probabilities. -
We have six members living here. Only my 14 year old boy was sent an email. Demographic targets?

Player receives multiple injections into his body. Player either doesn't know or fully understand what is being injected other than amino acids or such. Player is assured by scientists that products are legal, but keeps no record as to what is being administered and does none of his own research. There is at least a sufficient degree of recklessness to have the player sanctioned in these circumstances. If the player was misled by the scientist into believing that he had taken the legal product X and was duped into taking illegal product Y then that would be a different story. The WADA code needs to be adhered to with a strict liability or it is a waste of time. If a guilty mind needed to be proven in every case then the code is a toothless tiger and drugs in sport will become rampant. -
First thing you need from your tall forward is to provide a contest.

Practice Match - Melbourne v Hawthorn @ Casey Fields

Who is rated where on draft day is irrelevant in that argument. Anyway we have Toumpas, it will be interesting to see how we respond to developing him, and how he responds in turn. -
Stupid club drafting kids with soft spines.

Posted elswehere: On the other side of the coin why should we look at any player's performance with anything but honesty? Why should he or any other player be immune from having his game honestly appraised by spectators, as well as the game of the whole team. There is a happy medium here and it starts and begins with being respectful but also being frank and honest. There will always be the the "Watts is a spud","Watts will be a star" brigade. A few are capable of objectivity.

It's a practice match, so we can practice. -
NAB Challenge 2 - Melbourne v Geelong

We are playing a game that avoids contested marking situations but I think as time goes on this will be tempered. As players become more tuned to the abilities of the big blokes they will start to kick a few long ones for them to grab. As you say the Roos plan will be a bit more dynamic and dependent upon development stages, personnel and the tempo required at certain times in the game. -

I would like us to take balls in hand at times when we get the fast break and get the ball deeper quicker. I know Roos advocates the slingshot, we weren't keen to use it tonight. -

Well for much of the game his laser boot was off when he was under direct pressure. He had some good possessions and his last quarter was good. His DE was poor for an outside mid. End of story. -

Standards are low with this one. For an outside receiver he was running at about 50% DE I reckon for 3/4. He was rusty. That is poor, even by mfc standards. Hopefully he gets his eye in as the season progresses. His last quarter was very good. -

Michie is a very smart and capable footballer. Tyson is going to be huge for us and gets first hands on it a lot. Vince got a bit cute but gets it. Watts was poor for most of the game but redeemed himself in the last quarter. Byrnes, Nicho, Barry unlikely to be sighted in a Dees jumper again I would think. Tom Mc, good defender, needs to learn to turn and look, has tunnel vision and runs himself into strife. Matt Jones had an ugly night. Clisby plays every game, consistently hits targets and picks good options. Georgiou hits every target, uncanny Hogan and fitzy must get frustrated with the lack of I50s and the speed at which they come in most times Big Jake was ok All in all with some decent inclusions, we are 200% better. -
Yeah i know I like the muppet in a self deprecating kinda way.

And you spend the rest of your post pontificating about how we shouldn't be so easily offended.

Agree with this, the concept of Strauss in a hard close encounter or dare i say, final is a worry. -
Michie and JKH must haves. Watch and see if we continue the high possession game against Geelong, then load up on some more mids.

I reckon that he is tracking very nicely. Stunned that there were some calling to trade him.
