  1. I used to think you were a decent poster. You have paraphrased a whole heap of that you thought you read.....but in truth were never written!!!!!!!!!! Still searching for the over-reaction to the incident still can find nothing. Just a few posters echoing the minor concerns that our coaching staff actually have/had. In bold you can see where you are now purporting to know what is going on in Jack's head after you have wrongly accused others of doing the same thing!!! Still nothing in your post with any direct quotes to support any over-reaction. You have put quotation marks on "committment issues". Now thats just BS because I never used those words in isolation. Quote the whole sentence, don't misrepresent what I said. Taking things out of context to support your imaginary crusade is dishonest. Methinks that the over-reaction is all in your head and you are hyper-sensitive where young Jack is concerned. Ironically it is you who is making this issue far bigger than it should be by spewing forth opinions that are coming from the voices in your head. I try not to give out a serve around here unless someone is being outright sneaky and dishonest. We all have opinions but I think you have crossed the line. End rant...moving on. It's good to hear Garland is starting to do some ball work. Looking forward to seeing him grace the paddock again soon. Has anyone heard when his return is likely. Will he play NAB cup?
  2. Who said what now? Can't find that post Akum. I get more annoyed that a person can not discuss Jack Watts in this forum unless it is in glowing terms about how he is the second coming. I hope he ends up a great player but it will take time. Fact is despite his No 1 draft pick status he is still a 19 year old kid who probably needs to grow up a little bit physically and mentally in a disciplined envronment with high expectations. Not really a surprise. I remember reading an article written by Dermie Pre 2008 draft about Watts. His outlook on Watts was that whoever picked him up should not expect any significant output for 3 years.
  3. Pfft yourself, must have missed something there. You pretty much regurgitated what I said in different words.
  4. Not having seen the incident it's hard to judge but a 19 year old shaking his head in disagreement at a coach that is trying to coach you is not on and is cause for minor concern. It gives an insight into the mindset of the player. He deserves to get his a#@e reamed. There may be a couple of maturity/committment issues in young Jack that need to be ironed out but then I had a few of those at 19 too. I look forward to hearing about Jack running himself hard at training or throwing himself into match simulations or praccy matches.
  5. 1. Win more clearances. Be able to win the footy, ruck to advantage and get it out with quick smart movement and leg speed. 2. Players who can carry the football, make decisions under pressure and deliver to a target. 3. Play smart footy, make good footy decisions, mature as a playing group. 4. Develop confidence in individuals, team-mates and the game plan. 5. Be stronger and quicker. 6. Confident capable forward targets who want the footy and can convert.
  6. Mine would be something like in order of preference -Jurrah/Watts (changing i/c) -Bate if fit/Miller -Davey (mid)/Trengove off i/c changing Mid -Sylvia/Green/Petterd(changing mids/i/c) -Martin/Garland (tried when fit) -Wonna/Tapscott or Maric off i/c The luxury of playing Sylvia and Davey in the forward line at the same time probably won't happen unless the midfield makes some major advances. There is enough Height, mobility and strength there.
  7. Dan is an astute man. from Dan NB. A fit Bate plays Miller's role better. Fact is we do not have a gorilla marking forward. We need to accept it and structure accordingly.
  8. Apparently has played a bit of footy and has done quite well. His first name is Jordan and he is easy going likes Hoe-downs, mushrooming and The Simpsons.
  9. I think my point was that our forward line structure is the most difficult line at this time to predict. Our backs are starting to get settled. We have a plethora of midfield stocks (albeit under-developed). There will be spots up for grabs and there will be still a lot of experimentation to be done. Miller may well find himself on the outer by halfway through the season. Of a lot of interest to me is where do Davey, Sylvia and Green fit in. If the midfield improves will one or 2 of these guys stay forward?
  10. Bate doesn't get off the ground and neither does Miller. I would argue that Miller doesn't play tall either. A 6 footer could play the lead up role that Miller plays. Bate is quicker, possibly stronger, more mobile and has better finishing than Miller therefore is a better option. We have one player from Walpirri who is capable of flying for marks consistently in the forward line. Watts is a possibilty and Garland could be that player. Petterd, Green and Sylvia are some other small marking options to goal. Unfortunately for Miller he has extremely low efficency. He misses shots at goal when within range. Away from goal he consistently selects the wrong option or cannot execute.
  11. 2010 Ladder position and record: 10th (I am starting to allow myself to become optimistic, have upgrdaded from 12/13th in the last couple of weeks when I have reflected on our midfield and projected improvements) B & F Winner: Aaron Davey Most Brownlow Votes: Aaron Davey Most Rising Star Votes: Jack Trengove Most Improved: Nathan Jones Our 5 most important players at the end of the season will be: Davey, Sylvia, Moloney, Jones, Jurrah (apologies to Grimes, Green, Trengove, Frawley, Warnock, Jamar) 2010 Premier: Crows Wooden Spoon: Tigers Brownlow: Sellwood Coleman: Franklin
  12. "Jones- an amazing trainer, when others are jogging, hes sprinting. Expecting a big year from him, looks very good." Ultra competetive, durable, strong, fit. Set to rise a few notches this season.
  13. Alan Johnson, Steve Febey, Anthony Ingerson, Sean Wight, David Neitz, Brett Lovett I have a feeling that we have some very good backs on our list that could be contenders in a few years. I think we have the best backline and depth I have seen at our club for a very long time.
  14. Yeah keen to hear too! And as long as you and Ernest are consenting adults, I don't see anything wrong with that. (PS it's "earnest")
  15. Fair effort that. My hope for the dees of 2010 that we can add 1 or 2 to the major upset/no chance column. This will display that we have the personnel and plans to match it with good sides when things click and give us an insight into the future. They are the types of wins to really build upon and give the young players and footy department a bit of confidence. They also help rebuild our credibility in the footy world. I would mark it down that we will win a couple that we are not expected to, but will probably lose one or two we shouldn't. On that basis I reckon 6-7 wins is realistic.
  16. N. Jones His form graph is on the rise, he has a resilient body and great endurance. He is a leader, craves improvement, is super competetive and hates losing a contest.
  17. Its also a reminder that we are a long way from competing at the pointy end till those boys get a couple of years footy into them.
  18. Jizzpants?
  19. Bail was picked in the 60s and was a mature age recruit who has played a year of injury interrupted footy but still may make it. Gysberts is a highly rated young player who was drafted today in the first round is yet to play a game. Not sure who of these 2 players you disrespected most. Good luck Jordan (and Rohan). From all accounts Jordan is a solid citizen withh all the right skills and attributes to become a good afl player.
  20. Panos not picked up either.
  21. Careful bud. I made it out. Don't promote the stereotype.
  22. Knowing Carlton it will probably be poached.
  23. The herald sun needs to find something footy related in the off season. An absolute non-story. We won't be getting Bradshaw.
  24. Scully may not be ready to go round 1 due to lack of fitness with a late start to Pre-season, but he might be. Strauss is a player that needs to break in to the 22 if he gets in a big pre season. Brings class and speed. A back pocket is a good starting point. Can take the kick ins eventually and be our go to man deep.
  25. Round 1 here goes it. Possibly the most flexible Melb side we have seen for some time. FB. Rivers Warnock Strauss HB. Morton Frawley Grimes C. Trengove Moloney Bruce HF. Bate Miller Sylvia FF. Jurrah Green Wonnaemirri FOLL. Jamar Jones Davey INT. McDonald Martin Petterd Bennell emerg from: Watts, Scully, Meesen, Jetta, Dunn, Blease, Garland if fit goes in to 22. Would like to replace Miller with Watts or other KPP only if deemed ready
