  1. Perhaps the club feels indebted in some way due to the deal that was done last year to demote him to the rookie list whilst still contracted. On face value he did an honorable thing and helped the club when he was under no obligation to do so. Same with Newton. He may be collecting the footies, running errands etc and making a dollar doing it whilst studying. Good on him.
  2. J Fitz will play senior footy sooner rather than later. Blease could be just what we need to take the heat off Davey from what I have seen of him. Tappy will be a solid player. Strauss needs to gain some confidence and gumption this year or he won't make it.
  3. Sighs with disappointment.
  4. Perhaps some wise post moderating is in order here? I think the vast majority of Demonlanders embrace indigenous people and what they bring to the club in terms of their personality, talent and culture. A couple of posts don't reflect this and the authors themselves have expressed a change of heart.
  5. On the money I reckon.
  6. I will make a guess E, and it is purely a guess (ie. no inside info.) I will prelude this by saying I like Jones and value him a lot higher than some here do. I reckon there are concerns about his coachability. The issue with Jones is that he hasn't really been able to find that niche between attack and defence. He has an attacking mindset and really only knows one way. When it comes off he looks great, breaks tackles, kicks a neat low pass into an attacking position. When it doesn't come off he gets caught or f**#s up a low percentage kick. My guess is that the coaches have been trying to get him to temper his attacking nature a little, having failed they have given him a negating role to really drum in the defensive mindset. I hope we keep him, he is a strong, talented, durable player with good skills (contrary to what some believe). If thinks click he will be a mainstay of a midfield, hopefully ours. NB. I was exactly the same as Jones as a colt.
  7. make love not war
  8. I don't think anyone was actually comparing the two. The point being how common it is for demonlanders to claim that because our young player wears a red and blue jersey they have unlimited potential, if they wear different colurs they have reached thier potential. Daniel Rich played in a struggling midfield in 2010 and was often the first bloke tagged, because he is so damaging when he gets it. Yes he was physically ahead of the others you mentioned when he enetered the comp but there a still plenty of intangible areas that Rich can and probably will develop such as his motor, positioning, dealing wih tags etc.
  9. Cale needs to improve his decision making under pressure. I feel that he has struggled with the speed of the game and the intense pressure. That said his disposal when in the clear wasn't good at times either. He did begin to improve his marking. In both in the reserves and the senior games he played he took some strong clean grabs under pressure in defence. We know that he has excellent endurance and ball winning ability. The coaches have rightly demanded more accountability from him. Predominantly outside mids are of no use unless they have first class disposal and decision making, Cale doesn't have this yet. He is not strong enough to hold a KPD or KPF post. He doesn't have the strength or quick thinking to play as a full time mid. I believe he is best suited to the floating half back role but again he is of little value unless he can penetrate with his run and kick accurately to the right spots. I hope he improves next season otherwise he will find himself on the fringe again.
  10. Daniel Rich 7/7/90 Jack Watts 26/3/91 Watts eight months younger, roughly same age. STMJ speaks sense.
  11. You'd be nuts not to part with pick 12 for Rich. There is a reason why he was tagged heavily this season. It's academic anyways, won't happen.
  12. Can't help you Rollo, am working. Good luck mate.

  13. If the sticking point is only the value and not both the value and length of the contract I would expect him to stay put.
  14. Off topic but a great captain like Kirk would help too. I have a mancrush on him. A great captain. Great football sides have have all had them. It is imperative that we unearth one, I have my eye on probably the same bloke that everyone else has but I don't want to state his name save I jinx it.
  15. No one seeking a trade has named any club... (other that the Gold Coast Gravy Trainers) We are a far more attractive proposition than we were 2 years ago. Time we all started to believe it. Still I would be surprised if we traded at all.
  16. Travis Varcoe was worse IMO
  17. Green is courageous, but not what I would call tough. He is not a big inside ball winner.
  18. I don't agree. They could be paying first year draftees, they are instead paying a number of injury prone and/or second raters who albeit cheaper are a lot more expensive than kids. This has hurt them...as well as the Fevola deal.
  19. Jake Carlisle, but they can't afford to trade him
  20. In this thread I feel many have understated Jones' strengths and overstated his weaknesses. Jones could be a very good to excellent footballer. The issues he has exist mainly in his head. I feel strongly that Bailey has been and is working on those issues, thus the possible impasse with his contract and or role. I think we will know about whether is still right for the club by the decision he makes or has made.
  21. If you believe Alistair Lynch he is a confidence player that performs well when things are going well for him, into that I read front-runner. Has talent but would given our track record I would be amazed if we gave him a second thought.
  22. Sorry
  23. He wont be charged unless there is CCTV of it, and it doesn't sound like there is. ....that is unless they do a photo-board and he has a distinctive freckle or something.
  24. That's exactly right because welfare F$%ks with natural selection.
