Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]
Ron Burgundy replied to Dr evil's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's also possible that Frawley and Clark weren't wanted by this club on the terms proposed by those players. Relevantly, Clark and Garlett also seemed to attract interest from other clubs, as did Goodwin (albeit not as a player), and they selected us, I expect principally because of Roos. -

You're joking, right? -
I am over it. Completely. It was merely an observation you twit.

It seems to me that we have gone hard for Dangerfield and that neither he, nor Adelaide, are entertaining our offer.

Was the loyal country boy, Chip Frawley, one of those senior players? -
It's funny that with all the trade talks/rumours as to which established midfielders we should target with picks 2 and/or 3, eg, Danger, Sloane, Rockcliff, Shiel, Treloar, Mitchell, Prestia etc, no one ever even thinks to mention Scully. Sheedy has not received nearly enough criticism for paying so much for this, at best, reasonably good player. That he remains one of the highest paid players in the competition is ridiculous.

Danger probably interviewed him.

Pick 3 Compensation Confirmed for Frawley
Ron Burgundy replied to SaberFang's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ideally, I would like a draftee (eg, Brayshaw) and an established midfielder (eg, Shiel) and an exchange of picks for either another experienced midfielder or an elite draftee. In short, pick 2 to GWS for Shiel AND a first round pick and Brayshaw with pick 3. It's the safest hedge in many ways. -
Really good post. Not sure I'd be completely stoked if this is how it ultimately pans out, although you make a compelling case for it.

Hope Bernie's in his ear every day for the rest of the week.

This is a really good post - thanks for taking the time to post it. The problem I have with what you have heard, which I actually find disappointing if true, is that Chip was a leader of the club and had plenty of opportunities to re-sign well before this became the saga that it did. And surely he knew that the stance he elected to adopt would turn into the saga that it did. In this regard, I'm not expecting the same saga to eventuate in relation to procuring Nathan Jones' long term commitment to the club. But he is a real leader for this club.

Frawley, Clark ... Flower. Those names should not be mentioned on the same day.
-
He will be. As ordinary bloke who played a handful of exceptionally good games for the Demons during a career in which he played at few AFL clubs.

In a different team, I reckon Blease could be very good. A bit nervous about this decision, although in Roos I trust.

RIP Robbie Flower - Sad Passing of a True Champion

I love Robbie. The benchmark for club loyalty. Possibly our greatest player/legend. RIP.- 385 replies

Don't reckon Danger will be at the Dees next year. Or ever.

Garland's end of season review is on the MFC's official website. Hazard a guess, but all of the players with end of season review footage placed on the official website are required players in 2015. -
I just can't see it happening. And that pains me.

Can't believe this from the loyal country boy. Is it because we didn't have a potato farm close enough to the training facilities?

Don't think Roos would endorse Dunn's comments given what he quite deliberately said at the B&F. I rate Dunn. Always have. But I'm disappointed with some of the comments he has chosen to publicly make on this issue.

Melbourne considering shifting its base to MCG
Ron Burgundy replied to M_9's topic in Melbourne Demons
Would be a positive move. -
Exactly.

Clark offers heaps to Geelong. A forward line of Hawkins and Clark would be unstoppable. Someone here said that Clark, when firing, can literally 'rag doll' opposition defences. This is the best description I've heard. It's spot on. Clark leaving us is hard to take. He is a seriously good player. And the trade we negotiate must reflect this.

Hope that 'other club' interested in Higgins is not us. And Merrett - could be okay for us, even though I still dislike him for smashing Pedersen's nose in - that was a dog act.
