  1. Great work, Alpha - thanks. I am literally praying that the cards fall the right way on this issue - it's just so damn important that they do ...
  2. I'm behind Bailey - it's good to see the passion displayed by Connolly and Bailey to this club and turning things around. It's easy to be negative (and many posters) are, but at least the club finally seems to be developing some positive leadership and direction.
  3. Certainly look to be solid appointments - about time the club embarked on developing a culture which blends competence and a passion & enthusiasm for the club ...
  4. Yep - he strikes me as a good coach. We are an ordinary club with no facilities and no genuine stars nor good senior players. We have some good juniors though and our list is not that bad but still needs tweaking and improvement. He recognises that and is trying to turn this slow moving dreadnaught around. I reckon (with proper support from supporters and MFC management) he'll do it too ...
  5. I'd be very disappointed to see him go. He finally came good last season - and some players take time. If he were to leave, Carlton may very well get a bargain - and at the MFC's expense, as we've put four years of software into the guy only for Carlton to get the benefit of it ...
  6. True transcript of conversation which occurred just after the knife fight ... Tom Hislop: Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast. Hislop's angry bogon mate (Alan Didak): It jumped up a notch. Tom Hislop: It did, didn't it? Alan Didak: Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart. Tom Hislop: I saw that. Alan killed a guy. Did you throw a trident? Alan Didak: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident. Tom Hislop: Alan, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you're probably wanted for murder.
  7. What's this talk about a knife fight?! ...
  8. The second and third quarters in the semi final against the Crows in 2002 were awesome. I don't think I've ever been more pumped up - we were down by about 50 after the first quarter and then Travis Johnstone entered the game. Nearly shed a tear on the final siren though - was absolutely gutted with that loss, because it was bloody unlucky (Powell being knocked out first touch of the ball, Robbo and Yze having a sickening head clash at a crucial time in the final quarter, Whelan doing his hammy etc). A great, great game with loads of pathos. Despite the loss, was very proud to follow the Dees that night ...
  9. Sylvinator, yours is the post of the year. Thanks. A good thread too. Personally, I'd tlike o see more class (and pace) injected into the midfield - and I hope the MFC uses picks 17 & 19 for that. Using those picks for midfielders is arguably the better percentage play too.
  10. This is definitely good news. Part of a good club culture involves having players playing out (and wanting to play out) their careers at the club. Green's a bloody good player too. Agree - give him the Captaincy. Brock as VC.
  11. Full quote from today's Herald Sun: "Melbourne was angry at rumours circulating yesterday that Aaron Davey was up for trade and Port Adelaide was a potential destination. "It's absolutely 100 per cent bulldust," Connolly said."
  12. Threads like this ruined Demonology. I hope it doesn't here too.
  13. Green must be kept. We have to have some reasonable senior players on the list - and, culturally, I think the club will take a big hit if it trades Green (as he's red and blue, and is one of the few senior players to display courage and good form on the field week in week out).
  14. Barring injury, Ben Holland should start every game for the rest of the year. Our forward line looks a lot better with him in it, as he brings Wona and Davey into the game. Unlike some other senior players, he also tries his guts out - and that's bloody important.
  15. I would've been happy with the Sewell for Ferguson trade which was mooted a couple of years ago.
  16. I thought the very same thing after today's game.
  17. I'd like to see Green at full forward for a while. I don't want to see him go until he hasn't been tried there for a good few games.
  18. I fear that Bailey still hasn't worked out the strengths and weaknesses of our list. It was obvious we were stuffed at CHB today (prior to the bounce) and that he'd need Holland, but he still hasn't worked that out. He seems to love Miller, despite the fact that he's wholly ineffective. This is a worry.
  19. It's absolutely pathetic. Pleased to see that many of you agree.
  20. Who's going to play CHB? Rivers being out is a major concern. This is an important game. I seem to recall round 1 of 2002 (when the "experts" had predicted a bottom 4 finish) the Dees beat the Hawks in a bloody good game and, in my opinion, it literally set up the season for us. The Dees were very unlucky not to reach the preliminary final in 2002. I don't think this list in necessarily capable of that, but I do think a good confidence boosting win over the Hawks this weekend is just what this team needs. I hope they deliver.
  21. Inspired appointment, MFC. Was in favour of Sheedy, but I think we've done better. Add Connolly to the mix, and it's a bloody great result. Couldn't be more satisfied.
  22. Definitely deserves another year.
