  1. People are naturally very emotional over this incident, because of many factors we all know about. I understand Rollo’s view, because to be honest, at first glance I agreed with him it was a footy act and so be it. On further viewing and consideration, I realized it must be seen in light of the current AFL rules. It then becomes clear. Players have a Duty of Care to other players now. If you initiate contact via a bump to the head, it is no defence to then say you were only bracing for contact. Once you initiate contact, the duty of care requires you to not contact the head and cause injury. Whatever the motives of Maynard, in jumping off the ground, once he braced and hit Gus in the head with his shoulder, he committed an offence under the rules. His options were to not brace with his shoulder, but rather, keep his hands out to lessen impact, or avoid contact altogether. He chose the one banned option. The fact that Gus was concussed, goes solely to severity and penalty Now the media circus can begin. I only wish Gus all the best and couldn’t give a rat’s about Maynard.

I don’t know only repeating his tweet. Other media are still going with Port as possible new home. Sounds like Swans are more desperate. Anyway, I could live with him winning a Premiership and the Norm Smith this year.😀

Yes about Blues, but I was talking about the first week of finals. I know those two are now out. Also a fit Brown would have been handy this week. The bigger issue isn’t beating Lions, as we are not there yet.

IMO 1 could happen but 2 can’t. We will not trade him for 29 and a 4 place rise in picks. Tony Sheahan said deal was done for pick 11. Hope he is correct, that is a great deal. Swans are going for experience this year, to keep competing like Cats, as they think they need that more than more youngsters.

Injuries are a major factor in finals. We are the worst hit of the finals teams by a mile. Pies only without Daicos, Blues full strength, Lions full strength, Giants only Coniglio etc. Gus going off, killed Petracca going forward and possibly a couple of extra goals. How many sides could win without their Petty, Melk, Brown and Gus? Then replacement Tom Mac playing his first AFL game in 3 months. Yet, if we kicked for goal at the league average accuracy, we would have beaten the Pies and been in the PF. We now lose JVR this week. We need to not give away a start, kick more accurately and maintain pressure and a PF could still be ours. Maybe with JVR back and if a miracle, Gus too.

Maybe it is Daniher, Cameron, Hipwood, Bailey, Rayner, Fletcher and better delivery.

Tom DeKoning played similarly to LJ in gathering possies at the contest and around the ground. The fear is that Gawn’s effectiveness is curtailed if Grundy plays. Gawn had 27 possies besides rucking. That won’t happen if Grundy plays. Both have failed as forwards this year. It’s a real problem for the Match Committee with very limited options.
  8. Thanks Biff.

It would have to be both, to get us into a trade for a higher pick. Tony Sheahan I think, who broke the story, said he had signed with the Swans and we would get their pick 11.
  10. Yep and now he is guaranteed a Cox Plate Start if he us up to it.

Liam Henry has chosen the Saints as his new club.
  12. I think they love McLean more.
  13. Agree, but Gus allowed him to do that, so we need a replacement.
  14. H. McKay and Ben King have never been gettable previously.
  15. Well maybe we have an experienced key forward in our sights to cover for a few years, while the younger guys develop. Hopefully we have identified it as a need. Every chance we could see Tom and Brown retire. Melk a mid size forward could also retire, but McAdam is similar size.
  16. He's drafted 2 in the last 3 years and one is a regular and hopefully the other one will be in the near future.
  17. And we don't seem to be getting any. We clearly have the most injured squad of the finalists, with the most best 23 players unavailable.
  18. Just btw, do we have a Darren Jarman or Andrew McLeod in our squad?

I am sold, Sully it is.
  20. Just re signed and after last night, probably his best game, he is going nowhere. Amartey could be a chance if Grundy goes there, as they also have McDonald. JT and TL may be totally uninterested in him of course.

I think our first pick, if not Reid, should be a May or Lynch type. That to me is the real need. If we get another high pick then go for the magic. McAdam will take a hff or fp for a couple of years.
  22. Spoiling a mark used to be a footy action too, until Chairman Gleeson said it wasn't, in the JVR Tribunal hearing.

Probably Turner or Tommo up forward and Spargo for Laurie. Could you be really adventurous and play AMW?
  24. He was suspended for next week.

My most despised club and even more so its supporters.
