  1. Don't bet on it.
  2. That beard makes Jack Watts look older.
  3. You may be right, but maybe not. Missing the Nab cup, does that mean all of the regional games as well if they lose the first Nab cup game? If it doesn't it could be a one nab cup game penalty. Next, training with the Bullants is a penalty, but they are still training under club supervision just losing the interaction with their mates. If it happened during the year it would be a suspension from real games. It sounds a bit like the Michael Long penalty on Simmonds when he nearly killed him and ended up missing a couple of of pre season games. It wasn't a penalty. That was a disgrace. This may also, even though club enforced, be the same type of penalty. The fact that the Casboult issuse has not been publicly addressed to me means the AFL will want to step in. The media ( non footy media ) ( public ) won't let this go without some action from the AFL. This is a big issue, don't take it lightly. If the AFL makes no comment as to the solution they will stand condemned. The AFL has a duty to each young recruit and their family to ensure a safe working environment within reasonable limits and will need to be pro-active on this matter. The last thing it will need is government interference.
  4. Clearly that fact /statistic needs to be maintained in addition to finding new supporters. Success on the field is going to drive that from now on. Wins mean greater attendances, mean more members, mean more attractiveness to sponsors, mean more clout with the AFL, mean better financial position, mean security. Interesting to note that Dogs and Roos are a hair's breadth from collapsing.
  5. Doubt it. That is the main issue and it has not been addressed, unless the perpetrators were the three suspended players. We will hear more on the Casboult issue because it is the most damaging to the AFL.
  6. Agree Deb. Non Demon people will acknowledge the importance of that decision and kick in the coming years. I hated the game until Jordan McMahon threw his hands up in the air and was mobbed by his team mates.
  7. The heading says it all, but I will add a safe and healthy one as well and a good year for the Dees both on and off the field.
  8. Wonderful thought. R.I.P. Troy. Sadly missed by family, friends and Demon fans.
  9. Amen brother. Finally some good news to read in the papers.
  10. You are, it is not an assault if he agreed to being handcuffed. Plenty of sado-masochistic clubs in the world for example, where clients pay to be whipped, tied up etc.
  11. A victim doesn't have to testify. It just makes the case stronger if they do. For example if someone heard him saying leave me alone, let me go and saw him being forced into an act, that would be evidence. If he gave evidence and agreed that would be stronger.
  12. Correct.
  13. These are my three favourite lines from the article in the Sun. 1. From one of the managers of the cruise boat "the players were making real [censored] of themselves, they were drunk as skunks". 2. The players were fighting each other. 3. The players continued to abuse each other as they left the boat.
  14. As Mo said only the tax office would be interested. The cash was viewed as presents from happy fans. Was out to dinner last night with a number of Blues fans, made it hard to eat my meal. The interesting thing was that to a man they wanted Ratten gone. They all felt he can't coach and has no game plan. They even suggested they would look at Malthouse which i think given the deal he has with the Pies will come to nothing. Mick has five years of big money coming his way and for the last three won't even have to coach. Great to see trouble in the Blues camp. I just love it.
  15. Love it.
  16. I can supply some proof. I have spoken to Blues players of that era who admitted it to me and have spoken to blues supporters who admitted filling the bags. Good enough?
  17. Robbo was just on SEN talking about his sadness at ending his AFL career and the reasons why he has agreed to play for Shepparton Swans. He was a good player for us and and a nice guy as well and should be remembered accordingly.
  18. Rick and Derek Feldman were other jewish players who played for Melbourne, Keith Baskin had a good career at the Swans and Rick Marks briefly for the tigers.
  19. Gawn is coming off a knee op and Fitzpatrick off chronic fatigue. That of itself will take time for both. 2010 will be a settling in year for both at best most likely. Hopefully they will get in some games at Casey and be ready for a good preseason next year. Gysberts will also need time. The other three are of course in a different boat.
  20. No. Trading and Drafting is over and we are full.
  21. If one of them was out of contract we could have demoted another player to the rookie list and had another pick in the National Draft. Maybe Dylan Grimes could have been a Demon. List management is very tricky.
  22. If we were a flag chance he would still be with us. List management has changed.
  23. I am surpized a big lump of a lad who can take a mark and kick a goal isn't rookied.
  24. That's from Simon ahd Garfunkel's "The Boxer" is it not? Seems an apt song title after reading some of the posts in this thread. PS. My favourite Paul Simon song is St. Judy's Comet. PPS. I was at casey last year to see Aussie blitz early and then go off injured. He looked in great nick. If I had known then he would not play for the rest of the season I would have been thoroughly traumatised. I was hoping he was et for a great year this year. Hopefully this is just a minor setback.
