Agree. Spoke to him recently at a function and he is a quiet but very determined boy. He would love nothing better than to have a great career with the Dees. He is on the way.
All 3 foxtel commentators Shaw, Russell and Dunstall were stunned at the Bennell trip and Shaw dropping the ball non paid free kicks in the last few minutes. Dunstall repeated he didn't have the ball and he tripped him re Bennell and then re Shaw, he just dropped the ball that is a free.
So did Scully's 3 dropped marks and his miss from 20 metres. So did Petterd's dropped mark in the square with seconds to go. So did Jamar's miss from 20 metres, missing everything. So did Green's miss. So did Bruce and Junior's turnovers. So did Nathan Jone's misses. But like Bennell they all contributed.
I like Bennell as a forward as his flair can lead to a goal and he gives definite defensive pressure which was totally missing last week. I recall the great Steven Stretch pulling out of a contest in a Grand Final and yet he was a great Demon. This boy will learn and he will give us plenty.
Glad someone noticed. I have been hoping for the whole summer he would be played up forward as he has skill, pace and defensive pressure. Today he gave us 3 goals at least. Yes he dropped a couple of marks and is a bit "nervous" when a hit looks likely but he will improve. His errors are far less costly up forward and he adds a spark up there that we haven't had since Aussie has been out.
The tap was brilliant but haven't seen it repeated. As I have said elsewhere on demonland, Spencer needs ruck coaching and plenty of it. His timing is completely off. Watch him today and you will see that when the ball is actually tapped out by his opponent, he is standing flat footed having jumped way too early.
We play the Pies at full strength minus only Presti, while we are down on form and confidence and racked with injuries. It will be a real test for this young side to see how they handle it. A good performance could be a base to build on.
Great video. Interesting the majority of the highlights involved Jurrah and Sylvia, neither of whom have played yet. Also there were flashes from Jetta, Morton and Cheney who also haven't played. Then Dennis Commetti commented on how well the Dees were coached and the Ox said yes he is highly regarded down at Melbourne.
It is amazing the difference from our last game last year and our first this year. I am convinced that with gametime for our younger players and the return of others like LJ, the two Colin's, Morton, Aussie and the blooding of a few more like Blease, Tapscott, Gysberts etc we will improve dramatically in the second half of the year
A Demonology poster just reminded me of the Moloney suspension a few years ago. Beamer got 3 weeks I think for not making contact with a bump. The fact that no contact was made was declared irrelevant as the player fell over in trying to avoid the bump, which he did. Here we have a broken jaw 10 metres off the ball. Work that out.
Last week against the Hawks many would have given us a chance and the disappointment of supporters was clear. This week we probably are given no chance so the result and reaction should be interesting.
Congrats on the 200th Brad. Hope it is a great game for you and that the boys really put in an extra effort. Young enough to play many more for the Dees. Has been a great Demon over his career so far.
