  1. Fair enough. I can't comment on his strength because obviously I don't know his level. I would assume though that putting on 13k's would have to involve an increase in strength to a degree.
  2. Read my first sentence.
  3. Sorry to throw in another name from the paper, but there was an article on this bloke in the sunday paper and he has put on 13k's and looks a strapping lad. He is a full back with experience and is only 22 and 195-6 cms. Would rather him than Carroll on the list. Very disappointed at being delisted he is desperate for another chance and was apparently in good form all year for Box Hill but couldn't crack the Hawks team. If he was picked up by us and filled full back we could release Garland and/or Martin to other areas which would be of help. Worth considering, as I am sure our footy department will do.
  4. Bit strong. I know you are emotional over this.
  5. Pay it out with what? We obviously haven't got the money to pay a young player we wanted to keep.
  6. Sorry sport, 3 with 2 to run. Take it as gospel.
  7. What is Demetriou's official position with Visy? How much more can Carlton be given?
  8. Are you suggesting that no one should post on any topic or post he provides?
  9. Its not really a matter of anyone "sticking it up anyone" as we all know. Cameron Schwab will need more than 24 days and the Board like wise will need more than a few months to turn around the MFC from being $5m in debt and holding the wooden spoon. Commercially we would all agree the draw is a horror. Football wise it is OK. We are the bottom side and have been treated accordingly. As we improve we will have grounds for demanding better. As someone else posted, why give a friday night game to a team who doesn't score in the first half of a friday night game and has no supporters attending. We must attend games, raise membership again and hope the on field performance improves.
  10. Correct. If another club wishes to play him a deal would be worked out as to how much we pay him and how much they pay him. As for training it would be fair to assume that the AFL would have to cover any injury he might sustain. Therefore we are letting him try out with another club, rather than face a Court hearing over whether he breached his contract to such a degree as to allow its repudiation by us. My guess is that if Carroll is required by another club, they will agree on his remuneration and he will then do a deal with us for some part of the balance, assuming that his existing MFC contract would be higher.
  11. If another club wants him he will go in the National Draft and will not be there for the PSD. The only way we could get him in the PSD is if we really wanted him and he wanted to come to us and he didn't nominate for the National Draft.
  12. Seems like quite a few of the Bomber fans are angry he has been delisted. 185cm inside midfielder. Touted as tough and talented. I would have a good look at him. They took one off us a few years ago and he played a lot of games ( Peverill).
  13. The suggestion is that if you are a young man on $400K a year and your only talent is kicking a footy, you might not be bothered travelling an extra 10-15 minutes to get to your workplace ( the footy oval).
  14. It was a gratuitous put down. It had no relevance to the article. It is easy to kick a club that is down. We have to get on the front foot with the media and find positives to promote the club.
  15. Very big and heavy and raw, but who knows he could be a future ruckman/forward. Brogan made the transition from basketball to AFL. You would have to consider him for a late pick or rookie pick given our dearth of key forwards and ruckmen.
  16. Agree WJ. Best to play them early when we are both undefeated and everyone is chomping at the bit for the new season to start. Forget about the Grand Prix if we don't get a good turnout for our first game at home we are in for another rocky season. There is no excuse for the fans of either side not to front up. How is the GC17 looking from your vantage point up north? Have you discovered anything yet? How was the mountain climbing, you must have enjoyed the view of the peaks? Have you run into Barry from Beach Road on your northern sojurn?
  17. One of my favourite players with some great initials. Forget mouthguards, Biff just removed his front teeth and went out to give his all. His final game from memory was against the Pies and he hurt several of them on the day. He could play both ends and was a fantastic competitor. Today he would probably not get a look in as he would be considered too slow for the modern game. If played on Buddy his tactic would be to get a contest early and hurt him in the pack. He could not match Buddy for pace, reach or athletic ability and would be slaughtered unless he got that early attack in. If he did, Buddy would watch the rest of the game from the bench or later on the TV replay.
  18. You are a member of a very large club.
  19. "Port Adelaide, the 2004 premiers and 2007 grand finalists, is poised to announce a loss of more than $1.4million on the 2008 season that will reflect one of the worst declines in attendance in the game's recent history. Port, which, for all of its tradition and success, has always been a marginal AFL business, drew an average of just 23,842 fans to its 11 home games at AAMI Stadium this year, a drop of almost 15 per cent on 2007. It drew, for example, just 31,662 to the second of the showdowns with cross-town rival Adelaide in July where the Crows pulled 45,524 to the first." The above was in todays Australian. This from a club in a two team state and with an old established football club connection. Doesn't make our performance as bad. Can't wait for the two new teams, especially the one in West Sydney. Vlad will have to pay people in Sydney to turn up even with free tickets.
