"Port Adelaide, the 2004 premiers and 2007 grand finalists, is poised to announce a loss of more than $1.4million on the 2008 season that will reflect one of the worst declines in attendance in the game's recent history.
Port, which, for all of its tradition and success, has always been a marginal AFL business, drew an average of just 23,842 fans to its 11 home games at AAMI Stadium this year, a drop of almost 15 per cent on 2007. It drew, for example, just 31,662 to the second of the showdowns with cross-town rival Adelaide in July where the Crows pulled 45,524 to the first."
The above was in todays Australian.
This from a club in a two team state and with an old established football club connection. Doesn't make our performance as bad.
Can't wait for the two new teams, especially the one in West Sydney. Vlad will have to pay people in Sydney to turn up even with free tickets.
