Match Preview and Team Selection - Preliminary Final
Redleg replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
To be honest I think I would prefer Fritsch to Hannan up forward. To me he offers far more. -

I think other than the Petty selection, the FD IMO has done pretty well and we are in a Prelim after all. -

Given he can play forward as well as back or mid and take a grab too, I would not be dropping him. -
Wants a long contract on $1m a year. Won't defend, chase or tackle. No thanks.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Preliminary Final

Great post. Meredith wasn’t umpiring our game for starters. Then you suggest the AFL don’t want us the in the finals. -
What is going on at North? Apparently have Polec, Hall and Newman wanting to join them and an offer over $8m for 7 years for Gaff on the table. They will need to shed more than Preuss to fit all these players in.

Nicholls, Razor and Meredith. -
Unless I am mistaken, Fritsch's breakout year at Casey last year was as a goal scoring, floating half forward/forward pocket. I understand his use since Lever went out, but eventually, hope he returns to the forward line, where his value can be maximised. When or if he gets his form back, I think Hunt will be a better winger than Tyson and that Billy already is. Baker could be another to challenge for that spot.

4 possessions to half time is a good start. He was also run off and pushed aside a few times.
-
Can only speculate, as I like most DL’s don’t know what they are doing. Do you have inside info that we are actually not chasing anyone other than Preuss? Always enjoy the trading/drafting period, though for the first time in 12 years I am enjoying the finals far more.

If you are correct and he leaves Eagles but for North, then it would lead me to believe that it is only about money and that we elected not to, or weren’t able to match North’s offer. If that is the case, that would lead me to believe that we have identified another player we want.

Another outside mid in Hall going to the Roos. That could be three in one hit.
-
That is the conundrum and what I was writing about. The result being decided after the game. If the head count had taken place we wouldn’t need an after the game review.
-
Apparently they have the Count Rule which must be instigated by the opposition Captain. This did not happen. The offending player left the field before this could be instigated. What has happened now is a post game review of an incident. There are precedents galore that can arise. A touched goal in a close win. A blatant free kick error that gifts the winning goal. A post game positive drug test. A goal after the siren that wins the game with umpires not hearing it due to crowd noise, etc etc. It is a dangerous precedent post game to change the result. There will always be a loser in these instances, but it shouldn’t be the game itself.

Casey Demons v Essendon VFL Preliminary Final
Redleg replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
As I said , reported on VFL site Melbourne’s travelling emergencies won’t hang around to watch the Demons take on West Coast in Saturday afternoon’s preliminary final, instead flying back from Perth as soon as the game starts in order to be rested for Sunday’s VFL grand final. The Dees say they are planning on taking a squad of 24 to Western Australia for the clash at Optus Stadium, with Melbourne to fly on match eve as is their usual practice. -
Casey Demons v Essendon VFL Preliminary Final
Redleg replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree. If Hunt was back to his best form he would be the one at Optus, but he isn't. Something is wrong there. As for Smith, he has great potential, but is injury prone and that is a worry in a sudden death final. My gut feeling tells me we will make no change. -
You mean like with Goldsack.

What's he doing in Perth?
