  1. IF it could be done, you would grab it. Say pick 2 and ANB and the Wagners, giving Anderson and experience to GCS and King and a lower first round pick to us. That would take care of our needed extra key forward and in years to come, second ruckman. You would have Tom Mac, Weid, King and Petty. You could then concentrate on pace and small forwards with the rest of your drafting/trading. Langdon if you could get him, would solve the running half back problem and you would be looking a better team.
  2. If GCS traded their 2020 first round pick to us they would win the flag. MFCSS says hi.
  3. No he isn't, but I am and I came out with that Defence back then, plus numerous others. Like so many DL's we posted that how can you deliberately lose, when you are not good enough to win anyway. Would I be accused of tanking in a tennis match against Roger Federer if I didn't try my best to win? Also, in the game we copped it for tanking against the Tigers, we were leading when the final siren blew, a second after Jordan McMahon marked it and then kicked the goal and won the Tigers the game. "The tanking furore has previously centred on the Melbourne's narrow 2009 Round 18 loss to Richmond, where Tiger Jordan McMahon kicked a match-winning goal after the siren" Anyway, enough of tanking talk.
  4. That is amazing. We have played nearly every available player this year.
  5. I am staggered he is getting a game, given his season so far, however, that said, I am happy for him and hope he goes ok. I suppose with so many injuries and other players out of form and being late in a horrible season, it is the perfect chance to blood a couple of guys and give then a taste of the big time.
  6. Agree. Kid has talent and is getting better with each game.
  7. Jordan Lewis is involved in a winery doing a Pinot. Spoke to him today and you might want to see if you can get a crate.
  8. Looking like a lot of changes coming for the MFC, both on and off field.
  9. We took Sparrow in the Draft as a normal pick.
  10. He put on the number 22 Pies Jumper and no one went near him.
  11. This is coming from the Coaches, Players and Clubs, not the AFL.
  12. Probably a by product of coke.
  13. We keep hearing that the AFL Coach is really a Manager of people and the public face of the FD. He has fitness people, medical people, recruiting people, list management people and assistant coaches, working with him to achieve the optimum result for his club. The tactics seem to come from others, be it the Assistant Coaches, the Tactical Coach or group think. Even if a side is losing, the Coach could be going ok, but at the same time his assistants might not be. Therefore, it is fully understandable, that a club could be happy with its Coach, but be unhappy with his Assistants and require changes in that group.
  14. Salem started the year brilliantly and has tapered off noticeably.
  15. He played at 100% effective disposal against the Pies. No one else got near that %. I would love to hear he has re signed for 3 years.
  16. Sorry Titan, I was driving at the time and I thought he said it was hard to get a kick when he played on him.
  17. Absolutely. Nick Reiwoldt this morning on SEN agreed with you. Said he found him hard to get a kick on when he played and in his opinion is ATM our best defender. Can't understand why because of a couple of mistakes a game, people want to get rid of him. He has saved us multiple goals this year and generated play from the backline. Yes he has his faults but which Demon doesn't. I could name half the list I would rather lose than him.
  18. Getting closer.
  19. The great Frank "Bluey" Adams has sadly passed away. Condolences to family and friends. One of the smallest players to have played for the MFC and one of its biggest champions. RIP Bluey.
  20. Agree we played best in the first quarter. Not only are we missing our key forwards, of whom we have one proven and one still learning the trade, but we have no Betts/Cameron type small forwards and that is killing us.
  21. I think we can safely say, injuries stuffed Casey's season.
  22. 11 posts from start of game to nearly the end, yeah we have lost interest.
  23. First: you can have 40 uncontested marks through play on, or stop, chip and kick. Uncontested marks is not a stat that means we weren't playing on. Second: watch Oliver who plays on, even sometimes before he actually takes possession of the ball. Too many of our players are playing on when they shouldn't and that is most likely a game plan tactic and a demand from the Coaches. It is one of the factors involved in our world record turnovers for the year. Third: we had 103 marks for the game of which 8 were contested. Therefore 97 uncontested marks for the game. You say we had 40 in the first quarter. That would leave 57 for the last three quarters. That to me is indicative of playing on and failing to get the pass accurately to a team mate, which is what we have done all year. Go back and watch our games and look at how many passes fail to hit a target and you will find that most of them come from not steadying and playing on. Yes we also miss passes when we do stop and steady, but far less. To me the game style of contested footy, with no outside run and continually playing on, exposes poorly skilled sides, just as has happened with us all year. So, after all that, I have come to the conclusion that so many others came to earlier on in the year, that in addition to injuries, some bad umpiring, bad luck in often getting opposition sides ( not yesterday though), at their strongest, as an example the Giants had Hopper, Coniglio, Kelly, Finlayson, De Boer and Himmelberg etc against us, compared to friday against the Hawks without any of them, a lack of pace and without any decent small forwards, we have also been poorly coached this year.
  24. ATM he is. Strong one grab hands even when not in best position. Get 30 more games into him and 5-6 kgs of muscle and he is going to be a very good player.
