Agree. He can also run his man all over the ground and get free much like Hogan did.

CHANGES: Rd 07 vs Hawthorn
Agree. I am worried about Nev as age seems to be getting him. He was never quick, but got to contests and could negate his opponents. He is slower now and struggling. I think sadly he will struggle to be in the side soon. Just on Gawn’s tap, while he was superb yesterday IMO he should not be tapping the ball close to the pack near opposition goals. It is just too dangerous and he should be belting it our way to clear the area, which gains ground and gives us the chance to break it at least force a contest and bit further out from opposition goal.

Jack Viney Restricted Free Agent
While his disposal was abysmal last week, I remember who was our best player in round 1 in Perth and who helped get us into a Prelim in 18. Agree he won’t be going anywhere but needs to be coached into giving off the easy option and not trying to always go deep.

NON MFC: Round 06
And more on Hannebury.

Worst conversion rate on record
The Cats belted the LIons and we lost to them by a kick, after probably giving them 5 goals and failing to stop 2 easy ones. Terrible disposal cost us the Tigers game. We could have been 3-1 and then everyone would say we were going really well. I agree, we probably need one aspect of our game fixed and we are an ok side. That is what is so frustrating for our supporters.

Worst conversion rate on record
I would love to know what was going through Viney’s head in the picture we have all seen, where he has 2 Dees players to his right and he goes long to the goal square. Is it a game plan instruction of go long quickly, or has he simply thought that was the best option. The first is bad coaching, the second is bad decision making. The answer to this would be very incisive. If he played robotically under instruction, the Coach has to fix it or go. If it is a bad decision and against the Coaching it needs to be fixed as well, but it is a correction of poor play. The poor disposal is another thing altogether. Slowing the game down will help, but I think that if you are poor at this aspect you may not be able to get that much better.

TEAMS: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
Melksham has to be on his last chance this week. His game was pathetic against the Tigers and worse against the Cats, where he cost us several goals. He is in on reputation and not form.

NON MFC: Round 06
This mob mentor them. I think they asked for a free at halftime.

NON MFC: Round 06
Never seen a team whinge more to the umpire and beg for frees than the Cats. Actually sickening.

TEAMS: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
I posted in the changes thread that Tomlinson jibbed a few contests and was weak in his tackles and the FD wouldn’t like it. He will be back, but hopefully harder and more committed.

VALE Mike Kostos
Mike was a nice guy and his family headed by Tony will continue the MFC connection. Sincere condolences to family and friends.

Agree. You win a few games and then everyone and everything is fantastic.

CHANGES: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
It is amazing the effect of a first year player on that side.

CHANGES: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
Well he won't get a possession if they kick it away from him, as is our style. Here is a hypothetical. If Weid got one out and the ball was kicked to him 10 times, could we assume he might get it 4 times and have 4 shots at goal. Could we assume that maybe 2 would be spoils and thereby give our small forwards an opportunity and say he would be outmarked 4 times. That would give us at least a 50% chance of scoring from inside F50 entries. We are currently scoring at less than 25%. It's pretty simple really. Play an extra tall forward. Stop the play on at all costs mantra, giving a bit longer to make decisions and execute proper, or at least reasonable disposal and we are a better side.

CHANGES: Rd 06 vs Gold Coast
Unfortunately Tommo jibbed a few contests last week and was very soft on a few tackles, that ended up costly. That won't go unnoticed and I would expect he is spoken to during the week. Where did Hunt play his best footy? Has he been played there at all lately? I would rather Hunt than AVB and atm Melksham, who has been abysmal.

Dees on Brink of Another Trade Disaster
I have it on good authority, that whatever pick North end up with from us, they will draft the greatest AFL player of all time, who will single handedly carry his team to 5 flags. Seriously though, I think Pickett will be a very good player for us once we get some more games into him and they fix up our F50 entries.

Any correlation between form and having a new baby
Well if they are getting up a lot at night that could be something, but it is a long bow. I think most new Dads can still do their work properly.

Our Midfield group has the worst disposal in the league.
That kick is typical of the dumb decision making of too many of our players. Viney had the time, as the photo shows, to see the free men and at least try and pass it to them. He then compounds the mistake with another pathetic kick. This scenario is repeated often by our players.

Schwarz: 'Dees are irrelevant'
I don't think AFL players actually play for the jumper. They play for their mates and themselves.

But his old mate wants to go to Carlton.

Joe Daniher
I think he will go to the Swans if he looks like being able to play again. As I said, Essendon can't really afford to match an offer and then have him possibly not play. With slightly smaller lists and with the carry on from last year, I don't think they can go through it again with him. If however he gets back and plays well, they might revert again to their normal hardball trading approach, that they are so renowned for.

Not that I am advocating to go after him, but if he hasn’t played then they won’t match offers.

Garry Lyon: "Melbourne Supporters are Gutted"
I have been banging on about our poor disposal skill for years and to be honest was surprised we made a Prelim in 18.I didn't see it coming and we got there with chaos footy and a hard competitive edge. That is not the game now. Sides have us worked out ala the Cats last week. We have been beaten the last two weeks by sides who played well below their best, but they know they will get the ball from us in addition to what they get themselves and it will be enough to kick a winning score. We targeted the contested beast in recruiting and ignored the quick skillful player and in today's game style it is what is killing us. The stats show we get the ball quite well and are also the best in the AFL at giving it away. Viney turned it over nearly every one of his 18 possessions yesterday and it was probably the worst disposal game I think I have ever seen. That from a guy who works so hard to compete and get the ball. He is the perfect example of a hard nut without AFL level disposal skill. We gift other sides goals like no other. That is why we lose. Fix our disposal and we are ok. That probably means trying other players on our list who may not be ready, or recruiting them over the next year or two. Last, the Coach insists on a quick turnover game and with poor skill and a small forward line that can't be done and needs to change.
