  1. He is gone but we are back. Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, our reemergence is complete.
  2. I’d assume some time after the diagnosis.
  3. Still here in limbo land.
  4. In view of recent events I believe this thread requires an immediate return to the main footy board for further discussion.
  5. Actually you have narrowed it to 17, even better.
  6. Of course, if he had half the ability of the Wiz he would be a certainty, but that is exactly the point, does he have the potential to play AFL. Us, Freo and every other club passed on him in the draft. That is a starting point, as not one club thought he was worth even a rookie spot. Yes he might develop and become an AFL player and that would be great. My point is that if he is no good, I don't care if his name is Barassi, you don't waste list spots where you can help it. Plenty of sons of former AFL players don't make it in the AFL. You don't get on a list because of your name, it might help, but you need the ability and attitude.
  7. Good get.
  8. The table was chopped up for firewood.
  9. Realistically we have to assume he is a fair way off AFL standard, even with development, as evidenced by 2 clubs passing on him as a father/son, or even rookie. We have given him a chance to show he has the ability and work ethic, but as good as having a son of the Wiz on our list would be for the fans, it is a waste of a spot, if he simply isn’t good enough and but for his name would be nowhere near an AFL club list. That would cost us a potential player who we could have taken instead. There are plenty of father/sons out there who are simply not good enough, or have other passions, so clearly the pedigree alone can’t determine spots on our list. Here’s hoping though for Kobe!
  10. Did you forget “Klingon “?
  11. Is it? If the FD tell a player to bulk up, can you imagine a non star player refusing?
  12. IMO, you can remove Tom and Tomlinson from that list and probably Harmes as well.
  13. He would cope with the chop out in the ruck role, but to me he is no wingman, certainly not in the traditional sense. If he is to play a very high half forward role, as a marking player, who has good endurance, that is different. He is certainly no fast outside mid. All that said, I have a feeling that if he can stay injury free, he can get back to his best form. He is certainly looking in better shape than last year already. The fact that there was not much interest in him and that he now has a family, will be a big spur to him.
  14. According to the man himself, the answer is NO.
  15. I think the exciting thing with this pick, is we have taken a player who has a number of attributes, who might be able to be developed into a very good player. We can then live in hope we have got a very good one. With some other players, you know what you are getting, as they were at their best in the younger competitions and may not improve much when playing against the big boys. That is a pretty common trait among many draftees over the years. Take Toumpas as an example, who was a very good player among his age group, but just couldn't improve in the AFL and didn't make it as an AFL player. We all know drafting is an inexact craft, every recruiter has had failures as that is the way of recruiting. With this kid Rosman, who has many attributes, such height, speed and endurance as examples, we have a base to work on, that may have a very high ceiling and that is exciting, as we take the journey with him.
  16. Well done Chook, I laughed. Good thing these days.
  17. Lewis is a quality person, end of story. Anything he can help us with in improving is welcomed. Think you will find he is doing quite well in retirement, with media work and an interest in a winery. Also, he won't be getting paid much for a part time coaching role in the off season. Having played over 300 games and in 4 premierships, puts him ahead of every player on our list.
  18. Spoke to his brother Tom yesterday and looking forward to a catch up over a few ales in the New Year.
  19. Our National recruiting and talent spotters must have had an interesting year and exciting draft night, in that we drafted 2 boys from Sandringham and 1 from Oakleigh. Get rid of the NGA or give us a better zone or whatever before more top end talent destroys the reason for the draft and puts us further behind.
  20. Hopefully.
  21. No he wouldn’t. Described as an exceptional pick by King, Ablett and Sheahan.
  22. Are you suggesting the Cats took a player they didn’t want or know about until a phantom draft or a leak. WOW! You don’t think much of one of the best recruiters of the last 20 years.
  23. Dumb Crows in handing Dogs all the publicity. Should have picked the kid they wanted and let Roos nominate him and then he would be 2 not 1.
  24. Redleg replied to Elegt's topic in Melbourne Demons
Not a worry, I am told it will all be sorted out by the end of his contract in 2025.
  25. Looking at that list, we are one of only a few clubs that don’t have a player advantage.
