I am prepared to nearly guarantee, that If not taken by the Bombers, Phillipou will not get past the Hawks. So I am saying that Cal will be wrong inside the first 6 picks.

Question, why were our 2 finals played at Ikon park and not Casey? Why were Tigers allowed to play a home final with a capacity of 2800? To be made to play on a ground we have never seen, in 32 degrees, with no training run and no fans seems a bit unfair. Hopefully we smash them and it all doesn’t matter.

Agree. Get the top end talent in now. Then maybe trading up from 37 into the 20’s is doable, with a F2 and 37. I don’t know anything about Foster, Lemmey or Gilbey, but you will get one of those or another good player in the 20’s. That way you keep your F1’s for a strong draft or trade next year. Jefferson is a few years away from AFL at best and maybe you get just as good later, or even better next year. I have been keen on George for a while and just accepted we would take Jefferson for need, but JT might have other plans and like most on DL, I trust him and the recruiting guys to get the job done.

I still recall in Kozzies first season, sitting behind some feral Carlton supporters, who stopped short of racially abusing him, but at best, kept calling him Cyril. I just couldn’t understand why you would knock a first year player. Anyway, after Kozzie kicked a great goal, I jumped up screaming “go Cyril.” Then again after his second goal and every time he touched it. It drove the ferals mad. They went very quiet and we won, a good day at the footy.

Don’t think it will be Gruzewski, as I believe GWS want him and it will be their pick 18-19 we will probably target/need, to get the players we want, if we are going to trade picks. As I said earlier, I could see us trading 13 and 37 and a F pick to GWS for 15 and 18 or 19 or just trading a F1st and 37 for 18 or 19. Could be an interesting time for us, late on Monday night, just after pick 17 by the Swans is used. If we draft George and Jefferson, as Phillipou will be gone, we would be drafting for the future, rather than for immediate reward, which is fine by me.

I am unaware of the Draft Tampering Rules, but I think clubs in certain circumstances, sometimes tell other clubs, players they are and are not interested in? Who is telling draft experts which players they are interested in then? Is it draft tampering for 2 clubs to do a deal, on the basis they might get the player they want? That to me is not draft tampering? To me, draft tampering is a Club getting a player to say he will leave if another Club selects him, or telling a player to play dead all year, or to make up some false story/issue about himself, etc. I agree with the uncertainty of drafting statement.

I can see us doing a deal with GWS to get 2 picks inside 20 and giving them 13 as part of the deal. See my post on Dees Trade Thread for my possible scenario, if you are interested.

To me the possible trade we do, is with GWS and maybe involves us giving 13 to GWS to get them ahead of Sydney and then maybe we get their 15 and 18 or 19 for our 37 and a F pick. If the clubs can agree to not take who the other wants, then there are advantages for both clubs. For example if we took George with 15, as I don’t think Sydney would take him that high, given other available players and their needs, we could still possibly get Jefferson at 18-19. If we do a side deal with GWS on who we take, then they could even give us 18 and keep 19 to start the next night. That will allow them more dealing and still get who they want. I still believe they will take Gruzewski and won’t want Jefferson and Cadman. I think Sydney would want Barnett, as he is a need for them, or will grab a slider who they can’t resist at their pick. Anyway we will know all in a few days.

Harris has been down on form lately and Purcell, Bannan and a few others weren’t great in the PF, so a lot of room for improvement in the GF. We have been tough all year, and are very well coached and we are a big chance in this.
