NON-MFC: Rd 23 2023
Me too.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Would definitely be high on our list if Grundy left.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Yes, say Grundy goes at $650k and you replaced him with say Goldstein, for say $250k for one year, with promise of a few games to give Max a rest and to be ruck coach at Casey for our young ruckmen. You save $400k and get the young ruckmen developed by a great ruckman who is there if needed for his final year. You then do it again the next year, maybe with someone else and hope our young rucks are ready to go in 2 years.

Harley Reid
I understand that, as for a straight get Haynes deal, I would agree, it’s the steak knives that could be very sharp, that could make it attractive.
-
Harley Reid
You are not buying Haynes you are buying the pick or picks that come with him. What if you got their first pick and Riccardi, for taking him and his salary for a year? You would clear off an extra player or two and bring in draftees on small payments which cover that one year.

If Grundy goes, we will pick up an aging ruck, or 2nd tier ruck for a couple of years, until Verall and KF develop.

PREGAME: Rd 23 vs Hawthorn
Correct. Dunstan gets leather poisoning every game, but turns it over more than anyone I have seen. Last week there was a stage where I think he he had 4 turnovers in a row, just kicking passes to the opposition. A Saints mate told me when we got him that it has always been his issue. I think he will leave this year.

If you are playing Pies in a QF or a semi or PF later, I would prefer it in a QF without N. Daicos and Moore just returning from a hamstring. Beat them and it’s a PF at the G, likely against an interstate team. That is our best chance of getting to a GF imo. Then again a home QF against an interstate team is a big chance for a PF too. Who knows?

Agree he is a whipping boy and I admit whipping him too and that is uncomfortable for me, as he is a really lovely guy and did something for my grand daughter’s birthday, which all of us really appreciated. I congratulate him for sticking it up everyone like me and being a MFC premiership player and now playing his 150th. Have a great game and a big win. Keep it up Nibbler and keep sticking it to those who knock you.

But isn’t that the problem, that he doesn’t get 15 possessions? Old 55 posted a stat that he has only had more than 10 kicks 12 times in 96 games. That is the issue with Spargo, great user of the ball but doesn’t get it enough. Change that and we have a valuable contributor. Atm I can’t see how Kozzie, Chandler, ANB and Spargo play in the same forward line.

Max Gawn's 200th
Congrats Max, a great bloke, player and Captain. Hope it’s a big win for you. Well deserved milestone after a rocky start.

2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Talk that Hawks keen on Duursma. Roos just need to say to Eagles take Curtin and we take Reid or the reverse. That way Roos get Reid and keep compo for McKay, probably end of Round 1 and maybe get Sanders from NGA, as special assistance. We could therefore be looking at next cab off the rank, if Dockers lose next two and Suns beat Roos in last game.

Footyology: Comment on JVR tackle
Cripps threw the ball at least 3 times and dropped it twice when tackled and Dow threw the ball with both hands up high and no free, nor comment from the broadcast. Max blocked in most obvious block I have seen, front on, with 30 seconds left, which stopped him getting back for a mark. Yet they pay slight arm touches. Again nothing from commentators. Probably 9 holding the ball frees to 2 in their favour.

Umpiring discrepancies
Look at the full front on block on Gawn, running back to take a mark, twenty out from our goal seconds later. Put him on the ground. Player ran at him and knocked him over, off the ball. Umpire was right there. Most blatant free of the night not paid.
