No we don't - basic instruction, someone (Dunn, Sylvia, Trengove) 3rd man up. Bring in a quickie - Bail or Maric. Let's not waste a spot on PJ.

Nice post, but no comparisons please. The guy is a player in a different era. Just when we thought footy couldn't get any faster, it has, leaving many players that were okay 5 years ago (Rivers, McLean, Guerra, Young, etc etc) look vveerryy ordinary. Tom Scully is an out and out freak - he glides over the turf and is a 'natural' footballer. I have a mancrush on him. He will win a Brownlow and remain true to his team, not like that prostitute Judd who sold his soul to a recycling company of ill repute. I choose not to let go....
-
Is he ready yet? I think he's still trying to get back into the pace of the game atm.....
-
I agree with 100% - but how can he be attacking if he's getting his possies in the defensive 10 metre square?
-
Am I supposed to respond as rudely as that? Happy to comply, if you want to go down that path. Obviously it didn't work on Saturday - whatever they were telling Grimes to do.
-
Therein lies my point - the kid is creative, makes forwards run into space and adjusts accordingly. Not once in my post was I advocating a stint at Casey for Jack, I was looking to the coaching panel to fast track him, because he's got it. The attacks on Jayceebee31 have been from those posters who get too emotive and can't read content. Grimes, Scully, Trengove, Moloney etc etc will now have to learn how to break the hard tag or the defensive zoning. Hopefully the coaching panel can help in this area and invent solutions and think outside the square.

Really, really dominate, not just really dominate - seriously though, I'm talking about hard running and offering an option. He's not doing it atm.
-
It's not my obsession with youth, it's my obsession to rid us of the 'daniherisms' of the club - including the game plan.
-
Excellent point.

I think there was a game several years ago when Holland racked up 35 touches and took a dozen marks against St Kilda and Thomas Grant said at the time....'We didn't mind Holland getting the ball because his disposal was never going to hurt us...' 33 touches yesterday? 30 tiny chips into the 'dead' pocket from the defensive goal square? Any spud can do that.....he needs to be developed and he's ready now. Get him in the middle!
-
He really struggled to fit into the game plan yesterday - even when the team showed glimpses of nearly every player on the field providing a link or option, he was nowhere to be seen. Dare I say it? Yep - there was a real touch of the 'Daniher era' about him. Hard to believe that he was 'untouchable' 2 years ago. What happens to these young men? *sigh* Is playing AFL footy the worst job ever? He needs to go to Casey and really, really dominate...
-
Didn't have a great game yesterday (due to North's disciplined zoning) but this guy, deep in defence is a waste. He played a couple of games in the midfield last year and absolutely brained them - creatively, he was outstanding. He made forwards run into space that simply didn't exist. Playing deep in defence in bulls*** - any monkey can do that, hell, let's bring back Dutchy. Get him out of there!!
-
What a nightmare - over the next 2-6 weeks there are players at Casey that might by vying for promotion: Rivers Johnson Wonna Watts Morton Bell From last night, Bail and further down the track, LJ Cool J. Anyone I've forgotten? Solutions? I suppose the 'cheap' game has disappeared from Bailey's agenda. Looking forward to watching the juggling act.

Absolutely brilliant - just made to play footy. Massive motor, magnificent attacking handballer, always takes a crunch, WILL WIN A BROWNLOW. There, I've said it!!
-
Buddy Franklin!! Biggest [censored] ever - believes his own publicity and LOVES to have a look at himself on the big screen. ...then again, ALL of Hawthorn....
-
You might want to drop one of the 'o's' in 'loosing', so that it becomes 'losing'

Gutsy Win - Changes vs Tigers
jumbo returns replied to stevethemanjordan's topic in Melbourne Demons
Okay, it wasn't Cam's best effort today, but I thought he was better in the second half. According to the commentators, he's considered a 'creative' backman that backs himself and unfortunately he doesn't man up closely enough. Much better when released into the middle, and thankfully the coaching staff saw that and made the move - kudos to them. I have no idea who to drop - I know one thing, the way Miller is playing atm, it might be round 20 before we see him again..... -
Totally agree - it's time for this list to earn their keep. Last year and 2008 was the year for freebies to see if they can play. Btw, Bartram vey lucky....
-
You're right, 100% agree - the go home factor was always going to be a biggie. I want big Jack to be fast tracked, but all these comparisons and expectations are weighing heavily on everyone. I hope he doesn't end up like a Tambling, who is completely confused about his football.
-
btdemon, no offence, but this is a shocker of a post. Royce Hart was a tall, lanky left footer that played CHF for a team that won a couple of flags in his time. There was no zoning, so he was always up against one opponent in a match - up and 'kick it long' and the 'torp' in a big pack was the only style of attack. It was Leigh Matthews who wasn't impressed with Jack Watts, saying that there was nothing 'outstanding' about him - he is a growing boy who has a looonnggggg way to go. I hope this club doesn't rue the decision not to take Nit Nat......
-
Agree.

There are 3 players that will potentially have a day out if we don't pounce early - Tippet, Walker and Dangerfield. Whilst I respect the rest of the team, the gut-wrenching run that our youngsters now provide, will be too much for the older brigade. Hopefully DB will get the message across, run, run, RUN. Newton must stay in. He was good on Saturday, providing plenty of hard blocking for Pettard and Green. Depending on match ups, the only change would be Sylvia for Bartram.
-
Me too! In fact, I hate Hawthorn - they cost us flags in the 80's. Astroholes.
-
Absolutely! All the best, big fella!

Not sure about Moloney - gave a passionate speech at last year's B&F, virtually telling McLean to FO, but he needs to translate this passion onto the playing field. He probably still has some development in him and if he is to put his hand up for next year, he needs to stamp his authority as an elite midfielder now.
