  1. that's a great pick up! he was touted as a brownlow certainty until bloody guerra smashed his shoulder on the concrete that is etihad stadium.... btw, i've always thought the same thing about daniel bell - never the same after he got badly crunched by johnson? of the filth in that night game.....
  2. love this 'chat' forum - can't respond objectively, posts sarcastic comments, then gets all sh***y when things don't go baby's way. well, diddums, those stats are meaningless in the context of what sylvia is like as a player. simply put, he doesn't work hard enough - look at how much ground good players cover and come back and tell me that sylvia works hard at his footy - it's his job! having said that, you're probably a supporter of the ilk of 'well done, chaps!' and almost there is good enough. blind faith doesn't win flags, ruthless decisions do.
  3. funny you should say that, i actually do read palms, not hands as you incorrectly alluded to. maybe you should take YOUR hand off something and respond more constructively. name ONE good game sylvia played in six years at the club - maybe the coaching staff are slow to see that there's no future for this player. the youngsters that are playing in our team now, are SHOWING something. sylvia hasn't and never will.
  4. sylvia has absolutely no trade value - we've spoken about this a hundred times. he's NQR, never was, never will be any good. but, i agree as a hypothetical, i'd take tambling tomorrow..........
  5. there are just some players that carve us up - goodes is one of them. he basically pencils in 3 brownlow votes when he's up against us. none of our players are committed to sticking on him to play a negating style. there's no room any more on any club's list for a 'shut down' player, unless you can get the pill yourself. on a most base level, goodes is a star, we don't have one.
  6. let's compare apples with apples - AFL footy nowadays has potentially developed beyond those who have been out of the game for two years or so. rivers' injuries are career threatening and to the club's credit, they've moved on.... Late Draft Pick, box hill footy is so far removed from the real stuff, it's not funny, and silvagni? great for the torp onto the one on one situation. in today's footy, silvagni would have struggled with the precision and delivery that many teams have into their forward lines. i hope rivers does return and i wish the kid all the best, but i've got a real feeling about this club atm that you really need to earn your position. jumbalaya
  7. most important players bar rivers????? what the hell are you on??? when's the last time rivers played footy? at xmas time in his mum's backyard with an auskick ball?
  8. back pocket, that's it. stef martin and warnock for the monsters, garland and rivers for mediums, maybe bell and whelan for the littlies
  9. well, ffs, rest him - or is that too obvious for you? wait a minute.....you're not colin are you? are you? if you are, how on earth did you manage to get CAC to reruit you? slipped him a few sheckels? and by the way, if this is his first pre season without OP, it reinforces everything - he can't play. jumbalaya
  10. HEAR! HEAR! or is that, HERE! HERE? bravo, rhino, eloquently put - one thing that i will pick you up is that mclean might yet prove his worth - at least he gives a f***! jumbalaya
  11. colin sylvia - BFD!!! he will never be a match winner, has no spark or the x factor (look at sir cale as an example) but he'll have a great life. he's good looking, built like the proverbial and loves to party - spearmint rhino here we come!! trade? he's NQR, won't chase, is slow and not worth a cracker - you don't reckon the club didn't try? thanks heavens we've seen the last of CAC - the worst recruiting guy on the planet. jumbalaya
  12. The toughs of that era stayed away from the Dees, period! We were the toughest team going around - didn't win many games but many teams limped off after playing us.
  13. when he did his hammy against the dogs, that scared the sh-- out of him. the explosive pace is over. he doesn't chase with the same intensity, will not pick up an opponent and the blinding movement is over. his best position was at the feet of neita and since he's gone, he's struggling to re-invent himself. top 10? i doubt a club would. top 20? maybe the hawks would give up their pick.
  14. just speculation - op left untreated can linger for years. the monstrous demands on young kids to get drafted means that they don't develop properly. one carnival after another means that when the signs first became obvious, jared was never really given the chance to fully recover. hence he played injured and is still injured. i hope he gets better soon - it's a terrible thing to have.
  15. nice work joeboy - there are a couple of things i'd add: bell and rivers back to sa. maybe we can package them up for a late draft pick? rivers will never play again and bell has been psychologically scarred by the johnson hit. anyways, we mustn't forget, pick 1, pick 17, pick 19.
  16. This is where pick #1 will be a cinch - Nick Natanui (spelling correct?) Warnock, Natanui in the ruck, with PJ a resting forward. You know, I've never looked forward to the draft - but this year's will be a beauty.
  17. Ok no problem. PS I'm technically inept so I have no idea how to bump it to the top if it comes to fruition.
  18. Another inept poster who completely misses the point - kudos to all those who had a real laugh at the post and took it with a grain of salt, something that poor old Before2Long can't comprehend. instead of maligning the name of a Paul Kelly classic as your username, why not use one from the Wiggles that best describes your standing, 'Wake Up Jeff!' IT'S ONLY A RUMOUR!!!!!!!!!
  19. please read my post and HEADING clearly - it's some rumour that was on 3AW on Tuesday morning. I was only reporting it, not BELIEVING it. I think we all need to have a cup of tea and a lie down.....
  20. It was reported on the rumour file this morning on 693 that the Melbourne Football Club is trying to woo an Indian prince who is apparently willing to pledge a cool $20 million towards the club. Nice coin if we can get it. However, it's just a rumour at this stage.
  21. The last couple of posts that spoke about this 'what we need' was so silly it was funny!!! (especially the names being bandied about.) NO CLUB WANTS TO HELP ANOTHER CLUB WIN A PREMIERSHIP. The trades that have taken place lately have had no significance to that club whatsoever. I'm sure someone will correct me for this, but seriously, think about it. As Rhino says, trades are all about the NQR's being moved on. Medhurst, you say? Crap! If Collingwood are up, he's up, not a matchwinner. TJ you say? Crap, I say - even his own coach hates him and Power and Black have no time for him. We need to rely on solid list management, pick the BEST player in the draft and build a team - we're all steeling ourselves for the cull that will eventuate and we look forward to Picks #1 and #17. Have a good week.
  22. Hey! I was thinking we could bundle up Ellis, Funcke, Moorcroft, Read, Pickett and now HANSEN!!! Please posters, let's not get nasty with each other, we want to progress, not regress. Please look to the future. We don't want any more damaged goods....
  23. Yep - great idea. At the moment, our reserved seat family membership is deducted monthly. I would be willing to pledge an extra 20 clams a month over the next 2 - 3 years to help eradicate this debt. BTW, there's no such thing a s a rusty kinga, just 'weathered' PS I've restored a HT Prem - have you got one yourself?
  24. once again, flawed logic rears its ugly head. to GET value you've got to TRADE value. the current crop of names that have been bandied about are UNTRADEABLE. here's an idea from left field. jared rivers. body is showing signs of not standing up to the rigours of league footy, is physically underdeveloped, (davey has surpassed him), looks tiny against the power forwards, he's played half a dozen games in two years and yet attracts a fat contract. think outside the sentiment - let's get this team right. btw, colin sylvia should be the first to go. someone else will be stooged by his blond hair and massive build, but can't play footy to save himself.
