My guess? They have been unable to get/identify a suitable candidate to be in charge of recruiting. So Viney has had the brief added to his other responsibilities until an appointment can be made in 2013. Not hard. Making the best of what you have; Viney will hardly be on his own anyway.

Looks like it was the match committee that handed out the sanctions - ( "The match committee made the decision to stand Blease down for this weekend’s game, as well as handing down a financial sanction," the Demons coach told the Demons website) - not the leadership group. IMO, the way it should be.

The GWS/GC situation is unique. We got 2 1st round picks for Scully based purely on his contract $s. If Scully had wanted to leave and go to another club in a "normal" trade, I imagine we would have got a 1st rounder and a player. Remember, we got Clark for just a 1st rounder (12?). Only an established super star would be worth 2 1st rounders; Gaff is a long way from that (as is/was Scully)

Seems to have been a plethora of hip operations over the past 2? years. I can't recall many/any before that. Anybody have any clues as to what's happening (and why only recently)?

MFC list now if Neeld took the helm in 2008
Mono replied to Ron Burgundy's topic in Melbourne Demons
I won't debate your "instances", but I for one am very happy with the notion of drafting 'hard' players, who enjoy the contest, be they tall, short, heavy or light. -
I won't re-open the debate. I hope he gets picked and is a real success.

We care why? Tom chased $6m over 5 years; who wouldn't. Bogan Phil cashed in on his kid. QED. Move on

Yeah, tend to agree. Once Strauss' is back on the park, he will have plenty of competition for a spot. (Pleased he's looking to have fully recovered of course.)

FB: Tapscott Frawley Garland HB: Grimes Mcdonald Bartram C: Watts Nicholson Maloney Bail HF: Sylvia Clark Petterd FF: Watts Howe Green Foll: Jamar Trengove Mckenzie Int: Martin/MacDonald Bate Rivers Gysberts No spots for new draftees; or Jarrah and Davey until they prove themselves. Morton is gone. I rate Clarke more as a CHF than a FF. Howe has played plenty as a FF (in Tas). Ed: rookies excluded Ed 2: replaced Watts the 2nd with Nicholson, presuming he will be elevated

Great congrats to the MFC for getting the DeeTV movies onto the website within 3 or 4 hours.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAMES SELLAR
Mono replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
From Adelaide as well. Then there was PJ. Craig influence? (Implying nothing.) -
Fine, nothing wrong with the way he moves....maybe he should aim for the olympics? 400m? The hightlight reel is fine....its the lowlight reel that is long and disturbing.

Teens' exodus a Giant worry for Greater Western Sydney
Mono replied to Jonesy!!!'s topic in Melbourne Demons
And very few survive in Sydney. The Kings have been famously successful on 2 occasions, but have gone broke twice. They have only one A-league club. People in Sydney simply don't go to (pay and) watch games at the highest level. For whatever reason. Yes they do love their league, but bugger all people go to games. 10k is a very good crowd! Clubs don't need to rely on the gate at games. Success (financial) in the NRL is dependent on the Leagues clubs attached to the teams (and the massive leg up they get from the local media). Haven't heard of any leagues club for the GWS, and the local media will ignore them. And don't forget, the NRL clubs survive on a much lower salary cap and turnover than the AFL clubs have and need. Haha -
I would. Neeld has said he will judge players by how they behave and what they do. Wona left the club poorly, and is not training with them (or any other club). Gone...finito.

They don't make a pair big enough.

Teens' exodus a Giant worry for Greater Western Sydney

Not that I give a rats, but you'd have thought leaving the young kids at home for at least another year would have been smart.....oh yes....GWS.... smart not. -
Bogan Phil is getting $100k. That's rookie wage. No way will it change the compensation. Move on guys.
-
I reckon Eddy's just pushing Pendle's contract higher. Haha. Ed: be it at the filth or GWS
-
Couldn't give a rats about scully and his bogan family. But this stuff is the best entertainment you could hope for to fill in the weeks before the draft. Warner implied there is plenty yet to come....bring it on!
-
Bogans.

Any comments on the training session? Nothing but Jones so far.

Watts for one was getting game time because "the young players needed to get games into them". I was never convinced, BUT who else do you play? There is/was not a lot of players knocking on the door. "Getting a game because you deserve it" is a cliche dependent on there being (suitable/adequate) players available. Seems Neeld has a "crash through or crash" view on things. Interesting times ahead. Ed.: spelling

Not just any player tho'. An A grader ... not many of those about. He played 24 games for the filth in both 2010 and 2011, as well as the NAB cup; not much recovery time there.
-
Quantitfy? Concrete issue = Ball at the Saints. An A+ grader went to a C grader with massive physical/fitness issues, all in 2? years. One year at the filth and he's an A grader again. My gut? it says Misson is a [censored], but what does it know.
