  1. Good to hear WM. Disappointing your concept at this moment can't be part of it but would be so stoked to see this implemented, it would be such a good way for us as a club and community to give something back. It would be good if we had game day ambassadors who could maybe give tours of the ground and some of our history to these groups (refugee groups) to make them really feel a part of it and hopefully go on to support the club. Now we need some more ideas around reducing the $$ debt, buying the extra memberships and using them to advantage is great but some other strategic ideas are still needed. I'm still really interested one idea that was raised around a pay for preseason camp experience. If it can be slotted into the preseason to fit with the coaching staffs approval, I think it could make some decent $$. Or The game day in the life experience, $$ to experience the game day of an AFL player. Sort of follow one of the boys around as they prepare for the game... Anything that allows the fans to get a closer experience of what they go through. I think they will be good earners
  2. Good luck tonight everyone, great effort on the organisation. Hope all goes well, plenty turn up (i think the 1858 drinks prices is gold) and some cash can be made for the club!
  3. On an anonymous web forum.... ppppphhhssssaaawww
  4. Article From: http://news.realfooty.com.au/sport/davey-c...80708-3aj3.html Davey could captain Demons, says coach - Melbourne coach Dean Bailey says star player Aaron Davey's voluntary confession of misbehaviour could be a step towards him becoming a leader at the AFL club. - Davey missed a morning flight home to Melbourne two days before the Demons' last match - against Brisbane on June 29. The previous night he had been out drinking with friends in Darwin, after attending a funeral. Bailey said the club became fully aware of the incident only after Davey owned up following the surprise one-point win over the Lions. "It wasn't until after the game that he felt that it was almost eating him up inside, I think, he really felt like he let his teammates down and his club down," Bailey said. -Davey's suspension continues a tough disciplinary stance by the club this year. - "We don't intend to take a backward step, there are behaviours and there are expectations placed on all players and if you cross the line, you get to deal with the leadership group and the rest of their peers," Bailey said. "They've been very strong with their stance and that will still be the case for the rest of the year and years to come." - "The names are not there, but the intensity, the attitude, the competitiveness, that type of player still should be representing the Melbourne Football Club on Sunday regardless," Bailey said. "The names mean something, but at the end of the day it's your input, your effect on the game, what you're prepared to do for the team is still the same. "There's still going to be 22 Melbourne jumpers playing and those 22 are still going to represent us as well as they can." Bails has been consitant in his approach and rhetoric from day 1 and it is great to hear and SEE the actions taking place out on the field by the players he is developing to these standards on and off the field. The intensity, attitude and competitivness bit gave me tingles.
  5. Finally a rising star nomination for Garls. Also Yoda's take on Davey dobing himself in.... Demon On the Rise MELBOURNE defender Colin Garland's rising star nomination has been greeted as a rare bright spot in a poor season for the Demons. The 20-year-old, who had played just two senior games before this year, has performed well on some of the AFL's best, including Lance Franklin, Nick Riewoldt and Alan Didak. While Garland did not rate his job on Brisbane Lions spearhead Daniel Bradshaw as one of his best in the Demons' upset one-point win last round, coach Dean Bailey said the nomination was a fitting reward for hard work. "Colin works particularly hard and he's got a real inner determination in him, which has just come to the fore more and more as the weeks go by," Bailey said. He is Melbourne's second Rising Star nominee this year, following Austin Wonaeamirri in round 7. Meanwhile, Bailey said star half-forward Aaron Davey's voluntary confession of misbehaviour could be a step towards him becoming a leader at the Demons in future.
  6. Posts deleted? hahahha ridiculous
  7. A set of rules are drawn up. Each and every player agrees to said rules. Players break said rules. = punishment. (Brock, Sylvia) Player who farks up and admits it to his leadership group = intestinal fortitude (davey). Even if it is the slightest breach or the largest breach one shall rule them all. People who without known facts of players unprofessional behavior and who show disgust at said punishment after complaining about MFC's tolerance for weak willed players = uninformed hyperbole Personally I think it is fantastic to see from both Davey (it is fine to admit mistake but tough to not do again. See one B Hall) and the leadership group. We have complained for years about a lack of leadership, we finally show some by, both parties and it is not good enough. Confused
  8. aahhhh this has gone no where?
  9. Thanks for that DW... All of these stood out for mine, most in a positive way, one is a real worry for his career.
  10. To break it down further, overuse of the ball out of the back line/midfield followed by turn over = 16th for inside 50.
  11. bbbwwwwwwaaahh hahhahahaha
  12. * Anyone who says Bruce is a rubbish player, or turns the ball over to much, or needs to be dropped does not really watch the game or how he plays. The more I watch him the better he is. His work rate is huge! He will be in the back pocket one min, then next he is snapping the ball on goal. His last qtr against the Lions was excellent.
  13. Finally was able to watch the full game over here, my thoughts: * Wona's goal at the 12 min mark of the 1st was set up by a Bruce sheperd. He is not known for his body work, the comentators were incredulous. * 12 min 1st Wona running back with the flight into a contested situation to spoil a Lions mark. * Dees constant pressure, Lions had so little time to dispose thus turning it over. * Our skills are still terrible a lot of the time. When you win these things can be glossed over but we still turn the ball over way to often. * 9 mins to go in 1st, as raised in the intial post, Baters spoil stopping an easy Brown mark and goal. * 15 mins into 3rd, Jamar ran Sheman down!! * Greens constant chops outs. * Anyone who says Bruce is a rubbish player, or turns the ball over to much, or needs to be dropped does not really watch the game or how he plays. The more I watch him the better he is. His work rate is huge! He will be in the back pocket one min, then next he is snapping the ball on goal. His last qtr was excellent. * At the end of the coverage I saw, the [censored] who was abusing the players as they came of the ground early in the season that had everyones knickers in a knot, was standing on his chair shotung and singing the praises. * Chris Connolly sitting on the bench shouting out instructions... Connolls addressing the players in the centre square after the win, not Bails. Really good sign of how confident Bails is about being the head honcho, Connolls knowing his place and the off field team working really well together.
  14. International users try this page, again it is a pay site but.... http://www.aussiesport.tv/page/Home/0,,12614,00.html
  15. har har, Y_M man is totally [censored] for Brucey. Brucey is our mos versatile player we have, being able to play virtually any position on the ground. He is asked to do something different almost every week, whilst sometimes the dispoal lets him down i have nothing but resepect for a bloke picked up out of the ammo's in round 5 of the draft.
  16. Mobile texting is killing the written word. You can argue both sides of the Bruce debate. One he might have some good trade value so, will he be in our next team to compete for a flag? Probably not. Is he one of our best and most valuable and versatile players? Yes.
  17. Has Demonology and the Bigfooty crew been sent an invite as well???
  18. or maybe $4.5-$5 mill....... <_<

  20. ah cheers Gol. Will give it a go. driving me nuts, although I was lucky last night. I went ot see the Hilltop Hoods at the Islington Academy. Afterwards me and my mate wanted to have a few more beers and stumbled across a Walkabout pub (aussie/kiwi/safa pub chain in london) and it happened to be playing the Dees game so I watched last qtr. What a great night all round
