  2. Awesome to read about... If the ankle is bad, few weeks out to get it right? No need to force him through on it if it is not good.
  3. You have to be a member of bigpond broadband to watch it!!!! Farken hell. I might have to go and as the Slug in Fulham for a copy of it....
  4. Mate ideas are meant to be discussed and thrown around to make saure said idea has merit or not. I was not being to serious with the mentioned names. It would be more along the lines of the best and most loved players. It could be a seperate weekend, not a preseason weekend. Something to allow the people putting up the cash to feel like they are part of it.
  5. He was a fantastic player for our club and in general, although he has not played as well over the last few years in his hey day he was an All Aust ruckman and one of the first players picked. Is it his fault that we have no other ruckman once we traded our two next best? Give the bloke a break for farks sake.

  7. agree, the players made the descisions the ball falls into the players court. Maybe they will understand there choices and the ramifications for next season with further review....
  8. I was going to go out on a limb and suggest they might be resting White for this week to give hime a two week rest before the run home... Looking at the side that would be doubtful
  9. One of the funniest things I've ever seen was the 45/50 yr old bloke dressed up as Gary Pert in an old 'Roys jumper after the MFC vs Freo game earlier this year. The jumper, shorts and footy sox were circa 80's and the bloke was about 15 kilos over fitting the jumper and shorts..... Ahh nice one Don!!! Get the kiddies involved. I like it. THats one... come on folks lets get more up and running
  10. Ok we have had some cracking ideas from posters on here and other forums I've seen over the last 10 or so months, how about we put some more ideas to the MFC to differentiate ourselves from what other clubs are doing. On game day for the supporters, What our players can doing in the community, Advertising ourselves differently in the oversaturated footy environment, Fan involvement on game days etc etc. Basically any ideas that you can think of, steal from other codes countries or businesses that will potentially bring more supporters to our club. (Winning is not a new idea either...) 1) (Borrowed from Demonology) The Presidents game day address; Can we have it broadcast into the G at home games for the members to see on the big screens? 2) (Similar to one from the $4.5mill debt thread) Fans can pay to spend the day with an ex-champion, or not so champion of the club, on match day. You get to meet them on match day, go to presidents luncheon or something similar then watch the match with the. Generate some revenue for the club, fan interest etc. I'd pay to hang with Phil Gilbert or a Craig Nettlebeck or a Shane Woey! 3) (Borrowed from the $4.5mill debt thread) Fans get to pay to go on the preseason camp for a night or two. You are assigned a player and you get to participate in some of the preseason training with the players. Team meetings etc etc. Gives the fans a feel for the whole process and raises $$ for club. Love this idea!! 4) Dress as you Favorite player game. Roll up to the G as you favorite Ex-Demons player. Prizes for best dressed etc etc
  11. We have had some funny, silly and down right farken stupid rumours this year on the Demons message boards but this one has to take the cake. Even if it is true in the sense that we are laying prostrate at the feet of an Indian Prince begging him for his cash it is so far left field it is not funny. And what is this from another thread about Macca playing at the All England Tennis Club with the said Indian Prince??? I might have to duck down the road and have a look see to be sure. (By duck down the road I mean take 3 trains and a bus.... bloody London transport)
  12. Website? Do you live in a bubble or something my good man? If it does happen I think it will be a rather large news for the footy club and the AFL, it will be an annoucement for more than just the website muscles.
  13. But the issue Roost raised is valid... were are we getting the coin from to do BOTH. We all think it is the right way to go for us to have both but have we got the cash to support both if the article from the other thread (which came from MFC website) asking for $500k?
  14. Is that fair dinkum?? Sooooo the deal is done for us to move in..... but we actually can not afford to move in and set it up? WTF!? I don't think we need another $500k, we need to be have enough cash to get us into the OPRS (oly park rectan stad) whilst bringing down the debt to a sustainble level whilst still having cash to spend. It amazes me to still see that we are $500k short to set this up yet we have been hearing that it is a done deal for how long now. To everyone who thinks we are all clear with Jim coming onboard and for us to stay in the comp and not relocate wake up. We have no 2'nds team for next year, we have no training base as yet and we still have no admin base at OPRS as yet, and seem to be seeping money like an ebola victim. We need to role the sleeves up even further it seems...
  15. He is a fantastic player... As the Age article, and Jaded suggested, "Goodes is the thief booked for jaywalking". Shame he got rubbed out for a soft one when he has other priors that are viewed as worse. I also admire the man for his longevity along with Yze and the great Jim Stynes, the last time the swans played without Goodes was round 21 in August, 1999 FFS!!! I watched him play in the under 18 granny in '95 on the G, he played well that day. He was not viewed as going to be anything special and he worked his @rse off to become a champion of our game.
  16. Good to see young TMac continuing improving, being the youngest player in the AFL great to see him in the best
  17. relax Mon.... chill mate. I think we all want to see Valent's in the side (He must have sh!t in Bails dinner when Bails visited all the players at there homes during preseason) but at the same time Bode needs a number of weeks in the side to see if he can lift to that next level like the Garlands, Warnock's and CJ's seem to be doing. A decent run in the 1's to see if they will be on the list for next season. I want Valent's to have the same opportunity too and hopefully it will come before the year is out.
  18. Whats that saying.... is it 90% of the game is played above the shoulders. He is soft as butter and weak minded. He could have been one of the greats.
  19. Old Valenti just can't seem to crack it.
  20. Milne gaaawwwnn Delboy is unlucky one of the group being sent a message. At the start of the season looking at the list and there preseason form I thought genuine top 4.... So why did St Kilda sack one G Thomas again??? The president should get the chop for one of the worst descisions ever. A descision based on a personal feud instead of what is best for the club.
  21. Changing fo the guard backed up by Bails... Youngsters have led Demons: Bailey Melbourne coach Dean Bailey has praised his young players for lifting the mood at the embattled AFL club. While the bottom-placed Demons have won just one match and have lost the heart of their forward line, they have put a nightmare opening behind them, which included dropping the opening two games to Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs by a total of 199 points. And Bailey has given the credit to the youngsters who have been pressed into service to help cover losses like the retirement of David Neitz and season-ending injury to fellow forward Russell Robertson. "Round one and round two, they were terrible, they were unacceptable on every level that you could think of really," Bailey said. "But we've played Hawthorn again and we've improved on that game. "We've got the Dogs in a few weeks time (round 15) and that's going to be the next challenge. "I think the progression has come from some of our younger players." Bailey singled out first-year midfielder Cale Morton and defenders Colin Garland and Matthew Warnock for special praise. "And in the last couple of weeks (Jace) Bode and Chris Johnson I thought on the weekend was good, Lynden Dunn, he's been in and out of the team but had a very good game last week on (Richmond midfielder Nathan) Foley," said Bailey. "They're making some good steps and inwardly the leadership things they are doing around the club has been very positive as well. "Even though we've lost a few real key players those young players are trying to step into the breach and they're actually embracing it." Melbourne is keen to double its home-game commitment to two matches per year in Canberra from 2009, with the club playing its only game in the national capital this year against Sydney on Sunday. Bailey backs the move but says the club needs to show its fans it is improving wherever it plays. "I think the club is keen to promote Melbourne where we can and obviously in the capital in Canberra would be an ideal opportunity for us," he said. "But from our point of view the game is important, how we play is important because our members back here and our supporters are going to see where our development is coming from against a really strong one-one-one team. "We hope to prove that we're still progressing. "The Swans are in excellent form, they play very strong contested footy and we've been trying to focus in on that for most of the year. "It's going to be a really good challenge for our guys to play against one of the best clubs and probably the best teams at it."
  22. I always assumed that players are forced out into the community and to schools, would be good to see and hear about what we are doing as a club. Also I'd like to see the players take some "ownership" (working in a office too long..) of that side of things. Have the off field staff oversee it but the boys take it on as something they can "own" and run... They all go on how they are doing these courses and uni degrees in the back ground to help them with life after footy, here is another way they can develop planning skills and implementation skills, project management and projct delivery skills... * was speaking general terms and hoping we could get some actual buy in instead of hot air that permeates these dark and dingy message boards my good man. From our current financial position i suspect the club can not put as many $$ into these kind of opportunities so we the fans should step up and try and help with these things, from idea generation to understanding pro's and cons, market research, to delivery. Negative.... thats a yellow card mr1. next time it is a red card. Lets be positive about it.. what do the people and kids of the area want... how can we do it differently to the Hawks and steal a march on them? Again I look to the refugee community that anicdotally is forming up in some of the areas of Casey. How do we help refugees assimilate to the community and make there transition easier into our way of life whilst trying to gather the next generation of MFC supporters?
  23. Good work Harcourt. Some cracking ideas on here!! This one always seems to be on the agenda but it needs to be promoted if we actually still do this. I rember as a kid the great thrill of having the footy players come to your school or footy club and hoping that a Dees player would be involved and trying to impress him with your 8 yr old skill What worries me is when you read stories from players like Bates when he was asked about relocation, his response was along he lines of it doesn't concern the players we just play. They should care about the club, it pays there bills, if it folds or relocates then it will affect them. Another great idea! I used to work at a Utilities company in Melb who was intimately involved with Jimmys Reach program, they sued to "sell" positions to there yearly Reach camp for vulnerable kids to raise funds. Besides being a great revenue raiser for Reach it was a great way to interact for both parties. Again I'd be orried about players commitemment to these things, if they are made to go then they do but they do no actively seek out the opportunites or seem to push foro things to do, Playstation and dropping thousands of $$ on the horses is more what they are wanting to do. Again this has been a fantastic response but lets actually see some of these through to fesability studies and not just [censored] on about things we might like to do
