  2. Agree DD. We fell over the line and some Demonlanders are heading for the bottle. I dread to think what their 'escape' might have been if if the final score had been reversed.
  3. That's the worst four points I've witnessed in 60+ years. Following Melbourne is such a soul destroying pastime. I almost wish I could give them up!
  4. I'm generally not the greatest fan of Roosy's pressers, but I reckon he's spot on with this one: Rd 18: Paul Roos post-match Yeah, I'm well aware that lots won't agree, but so be it.
  5. Maybe I was a bit quick to vent my spleen, but a 50% distribution of the 50/50s in the last quarter also gets us over the line.
  6. For me the most significant quote from Jesse is: “The factors are probably where the club is heading, that’s the main one,” Hogan said
  7. ....... become a 'believer' for (probably) the 10th time this season.
  8. We must have been within talking distance that day PD.
  9. I'm old enough and lucky enough to have been around for our Flags through the the 'golden era' of the 1950s and 1960s, and for me its hard to go past Froggy's goal in 1964 as my second favourite Demon moment. All seemed lost after Gabbo's run and goal, and moments later we had our noses back in front. The tension was unbelievable, and when the siren sounded a 'valve' was released and the Demon crowd erupted. Premierships never tasted sweeter. We had stolen a Flag from the 'filth' and it went some way towards dulling the darkest memories of 1958. The joy and satisfaction were enormous, but back then, finals and premierships seemed to come easy for the mighty Demons. I had to wait 23 years before my most cherished Demon moment of all, and I see from the posts above that I share it with quite a few Demonlanders. Western Oval, final round of 1987, shouting my lungs out for the Dees while trying to pick up a score from the Cats / Hawks game from 'trannies' in the crowd. When we finally made it, in Robbie's last year, the euphoria was palpable ..... there wasn't a dry Demon eye in the crowd around me. Just keying these few words is giving me goose bumps. I wanna experience moments like these again please, and I don't have another 23 years to spare!

  11. Interesting to note that back in March / April Demonland conducted a ballot under the thread title "Who's our best chance to win the Rising Star in 2016". The contenders were listed as Petracca, Harmes, Oliver, O.Mac, Weideman and 'other', with no specific reference to Hunty. The outcome of the ballot was Oliver by a whisker from Petracca and then daylight the rest. I voted Oliver but did make the following observation about Hunty: http://demonland.com/forums/topic/39932-whos-our-best-chance-to-win-the-rising-star-in-2016/?do=findComment&comment=1246205. Just wanted to make the point that Hunty has 'come from the clouds' in half a season to enter our calculations as a Rising Star contender. Great effort by the young man and by our Footy Club in seeing the signs and persevering.
  12. I love Jack's loyalty. I hope its rewarded with a drink from a Premiership Cup.
  13. I recall that a fellow Demonlander (can't recall who) reported from our pre-season camp in Qld. that Hunty did something special in a match simulation, and two of our coaches who were on the sidelines immediately looked at each-other and one of them exclaimed "did you see that?". That comment really piqued my interest in Hunty, and I think we might now be starting to appreciate what the coaches were seeing.
  14. ..... and not a blemish amongst them.. Outstanding game!
  15. 6. T. Mac. - just one word "outstanding". 5. Watts - continued on from last week. 4. Gawn - his hitouts to advantage had us in the box seat from go to whoa. 3. Hogan - he's a "keeper" (lol). 2. N. Jones - tireless, tough and led ftom the front. 1. Viney - see Jonesy.
  16. We haven't seen the best of Salem by a long way this season, and I'm guessing, but I reckon it has a lot to do with his health problems. If he can get them 100% under control (perhaps a lot easier said than done) then he has huge upside imo. You can't have too many 'top liners' with his skill set, and he is one of maybe three on our current list.
  17. My heart says Dees 100%. My head says 50 / 50. I'm attributing 50% of the latter scenario to chronic MFCSS, so Dees 100%.
  18. Now that we are clearly out of finals contention, it's a good opportunity to have a decent look at a few players who have been consistently amongst the 'bests' for Casey for a while, but may or may not be in our jumper in 2017. The ball is now in their court to prove their worth.
  19. I get the impression from this snippet from Roosy, that Chris Dawes won't be on the plane to Darwin: Media conference: Roos on Dawes
  20. Assuming that there are no perceived 'weak links' I reckon it will be important to keep most, if not all, of the current coaching team together for Goody's first year in the senior gig. Goody will obviously bring his stuff to the table, and that should be filtered throughout the panel, but a strong sense of stability will also be important if the transition is to be seamless.
  21. 6. Watts - worked his azz off playing both forward and back, and giving Max an occasional chop out in the ruck, and was a significant contributor in all roles. Surely one of our most consistent players in 2016. 5. Jetta - back to the Nev we have come to value so much, after a couple of lean weeks. The perfect role player, and unlike some others, his disposal and choice of option under pressure were excellent. 4. Hunt - electrifying, courageous and desperate, and really starting to find his feet at this level. Not a high posession getter, but some of his efforts yesterday do not show up on the stats sheets. 3. T. Mac - one of his best games for the year imo. Played on one of the best KPF's in the business and curbed his influence to a fair degree. Took some telling defensive marks which undoubtedly helped contain the final defecit. I love that his first instinct is to take the attacking option, but ........ 2. N. Jones - a high posession game but didn't make the most of them. To be fair, most of his possies were under pressure in the guts, where he was battered from pillar to post, but his ordinary disposal did take some of the gloss off what could have been a stellar game. 1. Garlett - adds an important dimension to our forward set-up and it was great to have him back and in form. Was always a threat to kick a goal and his defensive pressure was solid.
  22. Completely agree. His awareness of who is around him, and his ability to hit them with a quickfire, handball or tap from conjestion is sensational. One of the key reasons he's a 'standout' is that he's not your more typical, one dimensional KPF. Further, he is double or triple teamed every time the ball goes near him in the forward half, and while that prevails, he can't be expected to kick too many large bags. I can't wait until he's only one of two genuine quality KPF's in our attack. Hope we don't have to wait too long!
