I once thought Ricky was a potential star for our club, but his 'star' has certainly faded over the last few years. Maybe injury; maybe attitude; maybe just not good enough; and possibly a bit of all three, but the bottom line is, he never got anywhere near playing consistently good football. It was certainly time to move him on imo, and I would have no regrets if he is able to rejuvenate his career at another club. Good luck Ricky.

Fair point Stylus, I wasn't fully aware of that. None-the-less, he has obviously 'grasped the nettle' recently, including with his education, and I'd love to see him in the Red and Blue. Clearly, if that were to happen, he would have passed the initial 'Neeld test' which would be an important step in his favour.

Great story. Can't help but admire his determination to succeed. That, combined with his obvious talents on the footy field, make him well worth a punt imo.

Thanks for that WJ. Like many Demonlanders, I find it hard not to be excited about the new, new age Demons, and I look forward to season 2013 with great anticipation. Just to be competitive on a consistent basis will be a refreshing change, and beyond that, who knows?

It wouldn't surprise me if both Dawes and Byrnes were added, because they are both reputed to have strong leadership qualities. Of course, they don't have to be part of the formal leadership structure to fulfil this role, but I have a strong feeling that part of the reason they were recruited was because of what they can contribute in this area.

I agree with most of that La Dee, but surely 'the vault' meeting has now been soundly discredited as 'proof' that our team deliberately set out to lose a game of football. Edit: spelling
