  1. Thank feck! Now I can stop listening to those idiot ABC Adelaide radio commentators - learn the Melbourne player's names FFS. GO DEES
  2. You didn't miss anything. I had a good view of it - the ball was in his hands inside or just on the line and he completed the mark outside. No juggle. So you're right - had to be a mark or out on the full. The throw in decision was just plain wrong.
  3. I pretty much agree. The vibe in the stands tonight was great - real excitement at what we can do now, and then real passion at the loss. Tonight proved we're really arriving, and our supporters are ready.
  4. Anyone else notice some pretty ugly stuff coming from Bulldog supporters leaving the ground? Quite a lot of gloating (from a team that should have been beaten) and a few having a dig at Melbourne supporters on the way out (they got a fair bit back which was good to see to). Lost a bit of respect for them tonight. I expect that lack of class from Collingwood fans, not them.
  5. "Hang on - Scully, Scully, you little ripper!" That's magic!!!
  6. Interesting that after yesterday's belting, Essendon were being compared unfavorably to Melbourne, i.e. that it seemed they are behind us in terms of development of a young side. How much that has changed! Last year we were always seen as being a long way off the likes of the Bombers - now the Age is comparing us to Geelong!
  7. What a great night and a great win. So much to love - 4 great quarters of hard running, tough tackling and good-looking footy. Can't believe I'm saying this about the Demons! Our depth seems so much better now - e.g. Junior goes off and Jeordie comes on to do just as good a job. Love how Scully straigthens us up - I saw him have the option to go out wide to the wing to two free players, but instead took off through the center square and deliver beautifully inside 50. We looked stronger than them all over the ground for 4 quarters. Best for years.
  8. Packed and ready to go. Ignore the rain - it's going to be a great night. Go Dees!
  9. Hearing the crowd cheer and applaud and then seeing Jimmy walk down to the cheer squad with his Dees scarf on - one of the best moments as a lifelong Melbourne supporter. Glad my kids were there to see it - they were just as excited at seeing Jim as seeing the win.
  10. Running back with the flight today showed he's a very gutsy player too. I reckon he's a great pickup and will help our backline develop even further.
  11. Showed today he belongs at this level. For me he can now develop at his own pace and I'll be happy knowing this.
  12. Agreed - this was a huge gap between us and them. They are closer in body development to Geelong - even if we did catch them they could stand up in a tackle and still get a clean disposal. Compare this with the likes of Jamie Bennell, who was bumped off the ball at will. So many of our guys seem a long way from being able to withstand the physical pressures the better teams can dish out.
  13. Please tell me Scully won't be manning up on Brown or Hall anytime soon!
  14. Nathan Jones tweeted they'll both be appearing. Hopefully someone posts here when they're on - can't really stand to watch the show generally.
  15. Long-term rehab can't be much fun, especially for a bloke who's a long way from home. Do players always do rehab at the club, or do they ever head home for a while?
  16. >> Re-sign Volvo Glad to see the club has finally drawn a line in the snow about this
  17. Caught Melbourne vs Fremantle from 1999 at 3am the other night on 7TWO. Fifty point loss, Modra kicked 7 or something. Kept waiting for a big 4th quarter comeback that never happened! Good to see the Wiz run around in the right colours though. Ox looked creaky but strong. Lyon kicked a monster torp goal from inside the center square. Hope they show a Dee's win sometime!
  18. Gone old school. Sent form in the mail (the one that needs a stamp).
  19. I saw this too. It sounds worrying but positive in equal parts. Anyone else have any updates?
  20. What a fantastic story. Congratulations to everyone involved. I think this is one of the best stories I've heard come out of the Melbourne FC since I've been barracking. The club has reached a new high.
  21. The best possible thing we can do is to continue his faith our club, get to every game we can and put a smile on his face as he recovers.
  22. I just liked seeing the way he moves - seems to be able to lope across the ground with some speed. He put in a couple of chases on smaller faster players which didn't come off but you might not expect a 6' 4 bloke to even get near.
  23. Not only has Davey's form been fantastic, but it seems he's being used really effectively. He's taking loads of handballs from half back and penetrates with 10 yard bursts to get us out of defense. He's also taking kick-ins at the crucial stages - the one today where he had nothing ahead, kicked to himself, layed off a 1-2 and got us out of the 50 was brilliant. Most importantly, his disposal skills are outstanding - he never misses a target. He was the one on the ground today who looked like a real class player. To me he is by far our most important player and I love seeing the impact he's making in the first few rounds. Though I think he needs a new nickname - Flash is beneath him now.
  24. go Junior. Hope you have a great year.
  25. I reckon Miller's been really helped by Warnock and Garland's improvement too, because they can be trusted with the big forwards and there's no need to waste him in defense. Shows how when some players can help lift they take others with them.
