  1. Gawn only works forward playing off an effective key forward.
  2. It was noteworthy how well our forward line functioned from the 22 minute mark of the last quarter of our 24th game of the season. That is on the match committee not culture.
  3. Just change the avatar to a pic of The Action Attraction Ricky Jackson.
  4. Yeah! Nah!
  5. A rental not a demon. Hope we don't give out life memberships purely on basis of playing in a flag. The task for the club is to extract the best return. The decision is not a surprise so the club will already have preferred options to work through. Personally not in favour of using part of the rental's loot in a Grundy trade. Gawn and Grundy both play their best footy in the ruck. Gawn can play forward working off functional key forwards a la 2021 but no sign Grundy can. Just seems an unwise use of draft and salary cap capital. I'd rather pursue options like the Swans Amartey or McLean who fit better in forward/ruck role and unlike Grundy are not contracted till their 33 year old season. Looking forward to the 'its appalling Dees fans are booing one of their own premiership players' takes next year!
  6. Match Committee have been out of form. Sydney beat us just like they did in Round 12. We need to move the ball quicker. The only way we're currently moving the ball quick onto our forward 50 is when we win the ball out the front of a centre bounce. So we need speed that can run and carry and/or by kicks that open the game up. Nibbler has to be under pressure. His current role appears to be absorbing tackles inside 50 which is a tad niche. Bedford in for mine. Speed and more likely to score. Hunt and Rivers need to provide more run out of defence. Salem needs to lift and start making kicks that open the game up. Presume Tommy Mac in to support Brown who moves at time like in need of a zimmer frame. Didnt look 100 percent for Casey but should come in for Melksham. JVO should have been given a regular season debut in case needed in finals. Would still like more speed of ball movement. Bowey can hit targets that open game up. Smith super quick and versatile. Maybe for Sparrow.
  7. Did you watch the 2021 AFL Granny?
  8. Presume Crows will straight up offer Suns the two first rounders they demanded for Lever!
  9. Part of or forward line woes is rooted in our slow ball movement. The only time we move it quickly into our forward line is when we get it out the front of a centre bounce. Not much quick ball movement from D50 either by taking risks with disposal or by run and carry.
  10. How Geelong stays competitive in the home and away season... then turns to jelly in knockout finals.
  11. Woolworths of South Africa who also own David Jones.
  12. Harmes for Neal-Bullen. Hunt's speed is required. Brown (if fit) or Van Rooyen for Weid. If its Van Rooyen tell him all we are expecting is a contest in the air. We can't keep playing Weid. Its like playing one short.
  13. For his professional development Jackson would be best served stay at Melbourne and learn under Gawn. I wonder how much that factors into his decision making. The lure of home is obviously strong and if is that he wants to go home then he will. For his football it'd be better to stay at the Dees till free agency when it'd be unlikely Dees would stand in his way even if he was a restricted free agent. He'd be more the finished article returning to a Freo he'd hope would be finished list building and ready to contend.
  14. What is of interest is that Freo would be best served by retaining their 1st round picks for a couple of years and then chasing Jackson. In particular they'd be well served by adding more key forward options to add to Amiss. But a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush so FOMO means if he says he wants to play for them they'll want him now. Max is just calming the waters for the rest of the season to make sure Jackson can play his best footy. If he does go we can surely trust that our current list management team will already have preferred options for the deal and in particular for a replacement second ruck/forward and they'll have circa 700k-800k to play to use part of for the right option ie Amarty or Maclean from Swans as an example.
  15. The market. And professionalism and advancements in injury management reducing risks of non performance in back end of contracts. And not backloading which makes back end much riskier.
  16. Come home to the Dees Buddy!
  17. No club is taking on all of Grundy's contract, and no club will extend his contract to reduce average yearly amount. If Pies want him off the books then they'll have Treloar it. If they keep him presume Cox asks for a trade to a club offering more time in ruck. fun.fun.fun.
  18. If Jackson requests a trade we won't get what he is worth in a trade. He is a unique talent and will start 2023 as a 21 year old. Just have to trust that club will work to maximise whatever options there are which may include other clubs to get best return possible. We can hardly complain about a player wanting to return to their home state given we have likes of Lever and Langdon. It'll still be painful though given his unique talent.
  19. Did you by any chance watch the 2021 Finals Series!
  20. Politically I think it has to happen, and it has to be a standalone team.
  21. I wish they'd put the FoxFooty post match back on Kayo. They were still in shock after the onslaught. Very watchable.
  22. We did, um, just win the flag. Carlton had the draft capital to secure Cerra because they did not make finals.
  23. If we use rookie pick today its a ruck for mine. It's always a gamble to pick a ruck at 18 or19 given most need to time to mature physically and master ruck craft and general footy skills but rookie selection is low cost. Bullies would have to go for a key defender you'd think.
  24. Bureaucrats ultimate acronym is the quango...
  25. Good judgement and positioning in the air whether spoiling or marking and follows up well when ball is on the ground. With Brown entering his 29 yo season, May his 30 yo season and McDonald his 29 yo season and query on whether Weidemann entering 25yo season can be a consistent AFL footballer (hopes he's watching his 2018 finals series on an IMAX sized screen this pre season) its a prudent selection. Should be able to develop at Casey. His flexibility and ground game may see him some early games on a flank if established players miss games.
