  1. Richmond Under 19s say hi!
  2. Does Oliver have any insight into why Melbourne are considering trading him?
  3. And the playing group?
  4. How would you manage the cap?
  5. Ultimately if playing group has run out of patience with Oliver then his time is up. Goodwin and other coaches just have to accept this. Its up to Connor Sports to work out a deal where Geelong pay all of whatever contract he agrees to and Geelong provides acceptable trade return. We get cap space, trade return and much needed clean air. Geelong get Oliver and associated ongoing management of his non football issues to add to Stengle and Smith. It might work. It might not.
  6. Its fairly obvious that the Melbourne Football Club has devoted substantial resources in assisting Oliver with his non football issues in 2023 and likely before. Sometimes patience runs out and a clean start with a clean slate may be best option. Will the clean start work? Time will tell.
  7. There can't be a FD position, there has to be a agreed club position. If Pert as CEO has executed actions not in compliance with the agreed club position then his position would be untenable. But that sounds unlikely. Thinking floating Oliver for trade discretely would not hit the media remains naive.
  8. What if its not ie Pert was executing an agreed plan signed off by football department? The idea that you could float a player for trade and think it would not leak is still naive.
  9. Jim Cardwell says hello!
  10. its tiring following the shifting Oliver narratives. Todays narrative: Dees (everyone or some maybe Pert) - have encouraged Oliver to test market. Oliver wants to stay but is testing market. I'll be in my reserved seat come our first 2025 home game!
  11. Is that on the Dees or on Geelong, Connor Sports and Clayton Oliver?
  12. He substantially underperformed his high value contract in seasons 2023 and 2024 due to non football issues. The club devoted substantial resources to assisting him in working through his non football issues. Arguably we even prioritised his overcoming his non football issues over selection integrity in 2024 in playing Oliver when he was clearly no fit to play. At some point is it possible that the responsibilty for Oliver leaving the club lies with Oliver? The above does not mean we give him away or subsidise his contract but that the trade return, cap space and clean air may equal a pragmatic return.
  13. As long as we don't pay a cent of his contract and Geelong meet our trade value then its a deal. This may require Oliver to agree to a new lower value contract with Geelong that makes them comfortable in meeting our trade value be that picks or players. If Geelong are just tyre kickers then no deal. If Oliver is not willing to sacrifice dollars if required after 2 years of dramatically underperforming his contract then no deal. Over to you Connor Sports, Oliver and Geelong. Then we move on.
  14. None of the 3 exactly improve our speed and spread...
  15. 'two first rounders' could range between Pick 1 and Pick 20 something... We need to take Pick 5 to the draft. Port would be loathe to take a future 1st as with such an even comp its hard to predict where bulk of clubs will finish in following season.
  16. Perplexing as to why AFLM program has ignored Ireland for so long.
  17. I don't think Graham Wright would have an interest in being a lowly List Manager.
  18. Kennedy is treacle slow. As the game gets faster, spread and speed rule. Teams can carry some one paced players but not many, there is no position to hide them. Looking out our midfield mix we need more speed than less. If the Blues don't see him as a centre bounce mid maybe he is not a centre bounce mid. If his endurance is elite then maybe he could lay a Nibbler type role but its not clear that it is.
  19. We need to prioritise speed and spread with our draft capital. Cerra has looked decidedly ordinary at Carlton and is coming off a year decimated by hamstring injuries.
  20. lazy clickbait masquerading as journalism. move on.
  21. Treacle slow one position player in a game increasingly demanding speed and spread.
  22. Slow, one paced player. The game is increasingly prioritising speed and spread, and that is where we need to focus our drafting and trading. A pass for mine.
  23. Treacle slow which limits him as the game is being played in 2024.
  24. or was someone else with urgent motivation to construct a deal?
  25. Just a reminder that a 'future first' can turn out to be a pick in the early 20s.
