  1. He proved he was capable of working hard in 2019 preseason but was cruelled by starting unfit,
  2. Bucky has somehow larked onto what is presumably a reasonably lucrative gig as the Hun's list and recruiting guru in an age when sport is pretty much what sells papers and views. Adds a bout as much value as Joey Montagna on the FF Draft show.
  3. Will help if he reports in shape to day 1 of Preseason.
  4. Tom Lynch was of course drafted one pick before Dees first pick that year allowing us to snare Lucas Cook. Jeremy Cameron was not available in draft. Danger was available, taken 6 picks after we selected Cale Morton.
  5. Ah Brad Sewell. Back in the day before 08 flag deal was done to swap Sewell for Ryan Ferguson only for Ferguson to veto. Which just shows even then the Hawks didnt know how to draft key defenders. Who was their last home grown quality key defender? Croad? Mew?
  6. Peter Curran another. Looked good at the Hawks as a 3rd tall, rather ordinary at the Bears.
  7. Didnt we appoint Alan Richardson to take tasks off the senior coach?
  8. Super quick and a nice leap. Hopefully he can get some continuity and get back the in the ones. Not as if we're stacked for speed.
  9. Premiership players are not all superstars. Premiership teams all have their quota of what Jack Dyer called 'good ordinary footballers;.
  10. Kaiden Brand?
  11. Tomlinson has elite endurance which is an entry level requirement for a winger today. They have to be able to run from back pocket to forward pocket all game long. They need to be able to help out defenders when they're out of position, be a forward option when required, be a target out of defence and to provide width so we can release into space from centre corridor. Tomlinson is good overhead, should have an advantage in the air over most opponents. He may not be super speedy but will be a better wing option than out of position inside mids like Jones, Tyson, Lewis and Brayshaw. And we've given up no draft assets to get him.. And we'll have speedy wing options with Langdon and Baker to mix and match with.
  12. Lions are moving to purpose built facility at Springfield.
  13. Frost is better than average at chase down tackles, running and carrying. Frost is worse than average at choosing and executing right decision with ball in hand, one on one versus a key forward. A metres gained player who turns the ball over. A key defender who struggles one on one with positioning and body work against key forwards.
  14. Mahoney has made it clear that told Frost/Manager what our contract offer terms would be and Frost/Manager indicated our proposed terms were less than what Hawks were offering.
  15. When Clarko wants a player from another club the Hawks do the deal even if they are paying a high price ie O'Meara and Wingard.
  16. In a salary cap league he'd be a back up tall defender at a few clubs...
  17. Oskar Baker, Steven May, Joel Smith, Jake Melksham?
  18. The problem with having too much of a contract in incentives is that it makes it hard to budget your salary cap.
  19. The Pies do have 3 small/medium forwards best suited to leading out of the goal square in De Goey, Stephenson and Elliott. This would be a factor in Elliott's decision in 2 ways if he decides to leave. Firstly, where is he in the pecking order for rotation time deep forward? Secondly, how much of their cap do the Pies want to invest in that type of player? De Goey particularly, and Stephenson will both want substantial contracts. How many dollars does that leave for Elliott's contract? On another matter if we accepted rumours about what clubs are offering players no club'd be anywhere near under the salary cap. I doubt we have offered Elliott $750,000 a year.
  20. Copeland trophy tomorrow night may stymie that.
  21. May, Petty, Lever, Tommy Mac can go back. Oscar Mac as a backup had a poor 2019 but has played better in previous years.
  22. Hibberd in contract and we'd have to attach a pick to get another club to take on final year of contract. Frost out of contract.
  23. Hibberd will hopefully be depth only in 2020. He's just not as fast as he was in his prime.
  24. You'd pick Frost over May and Lever? Can you get a list management job at another AFL club so the Dees can trade with you! May and Lever are much better footballers than Frost. May did turn up overweight but from day 1 of preseason worked hard on the track and adopted a better eating plan to strip the weight off. For mine his weight issue should have been picked up at time of trade so the changes made from day 1 of preseason started in October. A more gradual remediation may have also meant he avoided the groin and hammy injuries. May will start preseason in good nick which should set him up for a good season.
