Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
Freo needed to explain to Jackson and his family that it would be better both for their list build and his chances of joining a team in contention if he stayed at Melbourne for a few more years. And it would be better for his development to stay at the Dees and further develop his still raw ruck and key position talent rather than move west now at a high draft and salary cap cost where he would inevitably be under much more pressure when he is nowhere near the finished product that can perform to that cost. Maybe its the player manager role to raise that rather than Freo. Then if he still says he wants to join Freo its an interesting business decision they face.

If I recall correctly did not Jeffrey Gibb Kennett once aspire to Dee's presidency.... just sayin!

Crown approaching AFL clubs...
Its open to debate whether Australian casinos are viable without patronage of money launderers and problem gamblers. Too much brand damage for Dees to engage with Crown.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
Highlight reel reminds me of Jarrad Waite. Hopefully minus the suspensions and injuries. Suspect heโll spend next year at Casey as he puts on more size.

Welcome to Demonland Lachie Hunter
Hopefully Hunter can stabilise his life away from football and get back to playing his best football. That'd be a win for him, and a win for us. He's an elite runner, a smart runner who gets to dangerous positions, strong overhead and a nice kick. If he is playing near his best footy he will really help our ball movement. Good luck, Lachie.

We cannot draft again from WA
It is worth noting that AFLPA has pushed for US pro league reforms like free agency which advantage the player but have not surprisingly shown no interest in the US pro league rules which favour teams!

One - Suns are recalibrating player payments to allow for increased contracts for some of their young stars and attracting recruits. Two - Bowes is on 800K a year for 23/24 because of ill thought through backending. If they want his money out of the cap he is contracted so he chooses the destination club. Three - The Pick 7 is price for taking on the bad contract in full. Similar to Dees only paying Pick 27 for Grundy and not taking on his full contract.

Farewell Brodie Grundy
Can't wait for it to come back up to read all the Pies fans melts!

Farewell Brodie Grundy
The G&G Ruck Factory. Hopefully he gets back to his best. He'd be fairly motivated to stick it up the Pies.

Farewell Luke Jackson
What would you have done differently to make Freo pony up more draft assets?

Farewell Luke Jackson
How many 20 year olds play in the ruck at AFL level? Most'll still be developing at VFL level till their mid 20s.

Farewell Luke Jackson
We can't force teams to offer up what we think is a fair trade. Yep. we got 'unders' but if that is all that is offered our alternative to accepting what is on offer is to send Jackson to draft and get nothing in return.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Good luck to Jackson at Dockers. Can't complain about a player wanting to return home. But to be classified as a 'Rental' not a Demon. Match committee selection decisions in 2022 effectively guaranteed Bedford would ask for a trade to a team where he had confidence he'd play senior footy.

Port chasing Kozzy Pickett
Pickett's preference is to live in Adelaide. Whether he acts on that sooner later is the issue.

Media reports are that they need Grundy's money out of the cap to fit in Tom Mitchell even with Hawks paying part of Mitchell's 2023 contract. Fingers crossed that result is we give up a 2nd rounder at worst and Pies pay $300K a year of his contract.

We don't have many quick ball carriers which is one of the reasons for our slow ball movement out of defence. Aside from Hunt who else has the speed to run and carry out of defence. Hunt does have his weaknesses but that speed is an asset we don't have much of in our defence, Bedford would be a loss for same reason. He has speed and good footwork which can get him out of trouble and into space. If they're both going then we need to be bringing in some speed in draft/trade or fa.
