  1. Funny as Demon supporters we now get excited about players that give their heart and soul. Admirable trait but AFL requires much more. Extremely limited footballer. Not sure you can have a guy that can only tackle lining up for the centre bounce.
  2. Is there more than one Sellar or are we talking about Peter Sellars? Birdie num num!
  3. Fair enough question. Each team improves 5-10 percent each year. We have to improve 30 percent just to make an impact. Still 8-10 decent players away from making a real impact. Don't get expectations up too high.
  4. The positive is there are very few skinny bodies left. But if we're going to play combative football we're going to have to do it better than last season. As always the proofs in the pudding. Just an aside, our outside mids are nowhere near up to it either.
  5. It's one of the unequivocal facts of the AFL, that Melbourne have the best looking female supporters! We're also the most intelligent, most wealthy and most classy! And we all drive Range Rovers with little Melbourne stickers...!
  6. We need anyone who can play the game. What is often forgotten a couple of months after the season is that we only had six or so players that were up to scratch. In the midfield, Jones needs support both inside and outside. Wines, Toumpas et al sound great. I think Stringer potentially looks even better!
  7. Hope he learns to kick. Could make him a real find.
  8. Stringer just looks like a player.
  9. And why didn't we interview this bloke...!
  10. Schwarta pre-knee. The Wiz buzzing about. The Wrecker spear tackling. Duke Spalding at CHB. Robbie on a wing. Allen Jakovich in a pocket. Gawd we'd win the flag by 15 goals!
  11. A midfield of AFL quality. Skilful half back flankers that have elite ball use. A ruckman that can take marks around the ground. Prefer left footers. A goal sneak, preferably in the Stevie Milne mould. A lock-down small defender. Improved fitness. Confidence.
  12. The word allegedly won't get you off the hook if you are being sued. Otherwise you could preface any outlandish comment with the word. Truth is the best defence for a journalist.
  13. On the last day of trade week, the baby was thrown out with the bathwater. Smacked of desperation.
  14. There is too much back and white in the arguments either side. On one side all those players we've got in will be stars. Those that have gone will never be any good. The other perpective is those that have come in are no good and that those that have left will make us pay. As always the truth will be somewhere in the middle.
  15. I don't like losing Gysberts for nothing. We saw he could play.and I would have given Morton one last chance. With that said, I see what Neeld is trying to do. Getting players suitable for his game plan. Out with the soft [censored].
  16. Has to be either/or Tapscott, Strauss, Blease, Fitzpatrick, Trengove and Watts.
  17. Melb were ranked last this season for number of possessions. Need a player that can get the pill. That player sounds like... Wines!
  18. Will be impressed if they can snare Ray cheaply. Can play.
  19. Melb have had some tough players but Dunn will never be one of those. Look to Neitz, Whelan, Ingerson, Jmac, Jones, Viney and Seecamp. Dunn is a disgrace with all his shenanigans!
  20. Loved Ingo. Always found a way to spoil and dig his knees into the back of his opponents hamstrings! Matthews Collins was one that did well in our Grand Final year. Doggy Brown was underrated. Peter McKenna once told me he reckoned he was our best player! Wheels, Irish and Bizz were my favourites.
  21. Good assessment. You'd hope that Strauss, Blease, Tapscott, Trengove, Watts, Tynan, Morton, Davey et al, can fill the holes. But there are some big steps to make. Ray will help if we snare him
  22. I remember all the plaudits on this site towards Bailey and how he was setting the club up to be a super power. How Bailey was a great developer of youth, etc. As tempting as it is for fans to believe the hype, the proof is always in the pudding. From what I saw last year, the majority of the list went backwards. Jones, McDonald and Howe the exceptions. I hope for Neeld's sake he can turn the team around. What we witnessed last season was nothing short of diabolical.
  23. Not a defender. Sellar takes gorilla two. Martin ruck back up and not much else.
