Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Just my opinion: it’s totally acceptable that Kingy stays with Geelong until their 2025 campaign is over. It’s the same as Paul Guerra remaining in his previous employment until such time as his work was completed before coming to us. For mine it’s a testament to good character that they don’t jump ship immediately thus leaving their current employers in the lurch.

We didn’t understand this the first time you said it. You think by adding extra letters we will now? 😅

Nailed it, EO. The methods of the 1950s should remain in the 1950s. Unrelated: how come we’re all talking in Helvetica and you’ve gone all Times New Roman on us? 😁

You do realise it was a media address and not halftime in a match, right?

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
Uhm… I don’t just hug indiscriminately, ya know. I’m a discerning hugger, not a nilly-willy hugger. I have a ‘hug list’ (true story, ask the other track-watchers) and I don’t yet know if Kingy will make the cut. Yeah nah, I’ll bring a stepladder to Gosch’s 🤪

Welcome to Demonland: Steven King
I’m so pleased with the positive comments on here. I was dreading reading this thread but needn’t have been. Seems almost everyone is embracing this appointment 🥳 It’s only been a couple of hours, we’re still kicking the tyres, but to anyone who’s receiving this news with negative thoughts please consider this… I was arguably Goody’s #1 fan. I was shattered when he was sacked and couldn’t imagine warming to any other coach. At the time I despised the new coach and I didn’t even know who it was, such was my heartbreak. So… If I can get behind our new coach from day dot, anyone can. And not just get behind him but support him and have full trust in him, welcome him wholeheartedly. Here’s the thing… he’s our coach whether folks like it or not. B!tcching and moaning won’t change that. Before his appointment, when the interviews were still underway, of course there were negative and positive comments about all the candidates and that’s perfectly normal. But the nanosecond Steven was given the job, the negativity needs to stop because it immediately becomes unproductive and a waste of time and energy. It won’t change anything. GOOD LUCK KINGY!!!

Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Not pointless at all. I mean, you started a thread called Shane McAdam Vs Jack Martin and no one told you it’s pointless and meaningless. That’s not to say no one felt that way, many probably did, they’re just not rude and disrespectful enough to say it to you 😉 #”Cranky”IsAnUnderstatement

2025 Keith "Bluey" Truscott Trophy
Technically it can also be named after someone who’s still living. It’s just that it’s not common.

Shane McAdam v Jack Martin
It’s never too late to be more understanding and supportive 🙂

Shane McAdam v Jack Martin
It wasn’t the serious injury that got him to where he is now. My point is the serious injury hasn’t dampened his enthusiasm nor his will to succeed. In fact, it’s bolstered his commitment. Shane came to us, as you say, not in proper condition and not with the right attitude. That’s because he and Adelaide weren’t on the same page. They weren’t a good fit. I’m not blaming Adelaide for how Shane was at that time, I’m saying it wasn’t working for him nor Adelaide. I like to think our new coach will take this into consideration. Another big difference between us and Adelaide with respect to Shane’s ‘transformation’ is that Adelaide doesn’t have Matty Whelan.

Yeah apparently their membership numbers soared when the AFL decided to allow imaginary people in the count.

Shane McAdam v Jack Martin
Shane’s rehab is coming along very well. He’s working so hard and is determined to be back on the park early in the season. He said himself that recovery from this injury is different in that when he went down he was at the point of being the most confident and in the best shape he’s been in his whole career, therefore he knows he can get back to that point again. This is absolutely crucial because lack of confidence in himself (as well as in his body) was always an issue for him. Shane is the only player who, when asked which training facility they prefer, has said hands down: Casey. And believe me, I’ve asked pretty much every one of them at some point or other. Despite the drive to Casey, which no one likes, Shane prefers Casey over AAMI because the facilities are “amazing” and because they don’t have to share them with every man and his dog as they do at AAMI. He said this means he can rehab at the best level. He also gives huge props to our physios/medics for tailoring the perfect schedule for him. The difference between when he first came to us and the present time is astounding in terms of confidence and just as importantly…pride.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I agree that Tracc wants to stay but your reason (above) makes me laugh. His whole family had a table at the B&F and that’s a sign he’s staying? Would that it were so simple. Also, “most other player [sic] parents were at home” because most players’ parents have to pay to attend. It’s predominantly players’ partners who accompany them because the players get a plus 1. Other family members have to pay. That said, I’d be surprised if the Petraccas had to pay at all.

2025 Keith "Bluey" Truscott Trophy
There’s a separate awards ceremony for the VFL/VFLW. This year it’s on October the 2nd, which is a Thursday night, it’s at the Art Centre, which is a great venue, and tickets are $180 apiece, not $300.

Uhm, it’s actually called an em rule (aka an em dash) and ChatGPT wouldn’t know an em rule if it jumped up and punched it in the throat. Idk what that even means but ‘elongated hyphen’ made me twitch 😆
