Exactly. Why is he expected to be physically at our club when all his charges are on holidays? What’s he supposed to be doing right now? This is how I see it: he’s loyal and committed to Geelong right now. Therefore loyalty and commitment are things we know we’ll get from him when he officially starts with us. If he jumped ship now, with Geelong preparing for a prelim, I would question his resolve . Imagine if one of our assistant coaches up and left immediately a week out from a prelim. We’d be livid.

He’s also an unsung hero. Our indigenous players, or as he calls them “brother boys” are indebted to him for being their “mouthpiece.” Kozzie says whenever they have even the smallest issue and they’re not comfortable approaching the club (which is more often than not), Matty is the go-between. He’s a significant part of the reason Kozzie will never leave our club. He also tends to their families: facilitating trips to Melb etc. He works diligently, mostly in the background.

To be fair, Supreme Demon is not usually given to angry, insulting outbursts. This is very uncharacteristic. In fact, I had to check twice to see who was posting. As SD said, everyone’s entitled to their opinion (and don’t I know it, I’ve been told this a bazillion times) and this applies across the board. I don’t like much of what SD said but I don’t think fighting fire with fire is the way to go.

I get it that you’re angry but I’m guessing this is where you’ll lose most people, even the few who might agree with the rest of your post.
