What ended up happening with that overseas training camp he was supposed to go on? Was it cancelled or is it coming up?

I don't see being named emergency as a massive show of faith. I think chasing just about every potentially gettable key forward over the past couple of years including guys like Waterman, who would have cost a decent amount, gives me the vibe we don't think Jefferson is going to be much of a mainstay.

COVID really messed up that draft. So many misses in the first round.

He really does have a way with words.

He might be too honest for his own good.

Really quite baffling Giants refused to let him go.

Hopefully he gets a shot next year. Would be massive if we could turn this guy into a player but I get the sense our coaching group has little confidence in him.

Why on earth would people think he'd be a good recruit? He's not good depth, he averages maybe one decent game a year and goes missing for the rest. He had his shot, he's not good enough.

Do you think there was any way we could have prevented the events that lead to the media pile on or handled the situation better once those events unfolded?

Do you think the club could have handled things any better there so that it didn't lead to him wanting out?

I would question what made our best player so disenchanted that he felt the desire to look elsewhere.

Also if nothing the media reported was true it would have been very easy to shut down.

So you agree the club has to work towards fixing that reputational damage then.

I think plenty of messengers would have been shot for delivering incorrect information.

So our reputation did in fact spook a player from joining us.

Surprised at how honest he was. We have our work cut out for us gaining respect back in the industry.

Club is right to stop obsessing over key forwards. Work with what you have. Play a game style that doesn't require an amazing key forward to win us games but instead allows us to threaten in other ways. Don't force guys like Petty who can't play the role to do it just because the setup worked in 2021. A square peg in a round hole is a hiding to nothing.

At this stage we will probably have 5 list spots to fill. So 3 more after 5+9. Taking the last three picks in the draft doesn't excite me much. Are there any DFA's we're looking at?

So how are we planning on filling all our list spots with only two live picks in the draft?

Collingwood had to do it with Treloar. I'm sure there have been others before that too. Ultimately it's all about managing the cap and sometimes that cap space in the short term can offer you better rewards in the long term.

IIRC It's a red bull training camp. I think he's sponsored by them, he's gone before as have other players.
