That first bit is why I'm sus that this is a legit trade request. Could be other things too. Like the club gauging what we could get if we blew the list up and went full rebuild. Kozzy would be a strange choice to trade though. There's a lot of caveats in those tweets especially the bit 'if a trade is too hard, happy to stay at Melbourne' Doesn't seem anywhere near the Petracca situation.

Waterman signed an extension last year. He'd be worth a lot more after this season.
-
I really don't see an issue with it. Playing the field to see his worth. Club can always say no. Waterman is doing the same at the Eagles off the back of our interest. Club has to pay 95% of the cap and players have to accept less so that all the stars can fit on the list. If the highest paid player goes and we're only recruiting from the draft then that extra money should be spread around the senior players.
-
Why not? If Petracca goes there will be a 1m+ hole in the cap to be filled. Viney leveraged an offer from North to get an extension with us only a couple of weeks ago.
-
Get the feeling this is his management leveraging the current situation for a contract renegotiation.

I'm very curious about this. Any idea why they are so put off by her?

Isn't replacing the President and board where you start if we are to seek change? They set the direction of the club, they're the ones who can call for a review and set the parameters of such a process. They're the ones to intervene if something goes wrong that can't be adequately resolved at the lower levels. On the Petracca issue the Coach, CEO, President and Footy boss are all marching to the beat of the same drum which implies a level of complacency across all the leadership positions that has lead us to this point.

Which one was that?

"I can't speak to this. I'm not across that. Media media media."

Would be happy to take Josh Mahoney back.

Not sure he wants the job but it amazes me we seem to have such trouble finding normal competent people to run the club. Every group have their own weird self-serving agendas.

This is [censored]. Essendon didn't have an exodus this bad after they got their players banned for PED's we're having one three years after a flag. FML this club.

Peter Jackson being put in charge was essentially an independent review with the teeth to make the changes required.

PJ came into such a ****show he sacked half the club and they all said "yeah that's probably fair enough."
-
I said it last week but that SEN interview before the gold coast game Pert gave was awful. Nothing he said sounded sincere or substantive. Just a bunch of excuses, spin and complaints about all the things we've had to deal with that can't be controlled by a CEO. Mate, if you can't take control maybe let someone do the job who can.

Where are you hearing this?
-
This seems completely contrary to what has been reported.
-
How has there been no update yet? According to the pdf the council put up the report was supposed to be produced in June.

Not sure 6-6-6 had that great an impact. Centre clearances are only a part of it. We put extra numbers around the ball and cheated forward a lot. Would love to see us go back to that style. Our backline isn't nearly as shaky as it was back then so we probably pull it off even better these days.

Gaz was cracking jokes with McRae about it on Saturday.

Club in crisis - Media pile on - August 2024
KozzyCan replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
One thing I hope we can get on top on this off-season is the constant leaks out of the club. The media report what they hear and they seem to hear a lot from us. By yesterday evening we had the ins and outs of a player only meeting and a little swipe from the club at the people around Petracca outside the club. Go back to last year and you have all the stuff that got leaked about Oliver's issues. I know leaks happen but we do seem to have more than other clubs. It just creates fodder for the media and I can't imagine it's good for trust within the club if something you say in confidence gets a run in the papers a couple of days later. -
Got the sense from his post-game was that he has been told by his manager to straight bat questions about his contract. So not overly concerned with his answer. I expect North are offering him something like 3-4 years as a carrot. If its 4 years on money we can't match you almost have to let him go and thank him for everything. If he goes we can probably upgrade our first and get another second back, so not the end of the world. Reckon he probably signs a two year extension with us though.
-
I thought he was terrible. Basically played down all the issues at the club and spent a lot of time making excuses for things that are apparently out of his control. A far cry from Peter Jackson who would openly talk about the clubs flaws and a determination to fix them.

An external review of the Melbourne Football Club is required!
KozzyCan replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Collingwood were a massive story over the 2020-21 period. It ended with them sacking their coach, president, CEO and footy boss and winning a flag two years later. Richmond were also in the crosshairs between 2014-16. They even had an outside faction trying to instigate a board spill, They scrapped their whole footy department apart from their coach and won a flag 12 months later.- 89 replies

This is like saying the Eagles didn't have a culture problem in 2007 because Mark LeCras stuck around.- 89 replies
