Pressure yes, clearance and contested ball not as much. Take the Geelong and Hawks wins. Both Hawthorn and Geelong have pretty average midfields on paper and were up against two of the best midfields in the comp. Both dominated by stiffing their opponents ball movement and getting the ball quickly into their forwardline rather than contest/defence. Same thing happened to Carlton who were pretty even at the contest but got murdered on the outside.

No because turnovers are a thing.

Oliver at his best is exceptional in close at using the ball by hands to get it to the outside. His kicking has never been much chop, pretty much always skies it which helps his disposal efficiency as it's safer but not as effective at generating scores. A common problem across our midfield. Daicos is an elite ball user, goes for dangerous kicks that totally break the game open. My fear with Oliver is that inside mids who can only do it one way are seemingly nowhere near as valuable as they were 5 or 10 years ago. Game is being played more and more on the outside these days. Being able to move the ball becoming more important than being able to win it at the source.

That kind of exemplifies how much of a waste of time disposal efficiency is as a stat.

I get the feeling Pert is exaggerating a bit there. Why is he guilt tripping a member for running for election and putting the costs to the club on his head?
-
Does Pert have a contract or is he ongoing? Re smith, being a footy club president is an unpaid passion project. No where near comparable to a full-time high intensity profession.
-
I think Casey as a location is also a big issue for players.

Hawks are such a great team to watch.
-
Plus I heard he did a terrible job on Clayton's lawn.

I don't mind the idea as Hinkley seems like a great people person. Seems to have good managerial skills. Not sure why some would bring up his finals record. Footy boss is a fairly different role to a coach. Take Balme, who was an average coach but probably the best footy boss the game has seen.
-
Even if it didn't, surely if a player gets themselves banned their contract is voided.
-
Oliver was injured for half the season last year when we hit our best patch of form. He came back for finals and played well but we lost both games anyway. It's a team game. There's more to it than just one player.

Trade rumours are a bit of fun imo. No need to get too worked up over them. Not much else to talk about at this stage of the year except how jealous we are of the teams playing finals.
-
Pretty funny if Tyson was getting pushed out because we were chasing the bloke who got selected with the pick we traded him in for.
-
He's working with a midfield of Dangerfield and a bunch of nobodies and absolutely destroyed one with JHF, Rozee, Butters, Wines and Boak. He is a master.

More collateral damage of trade speculation 😢
-
The way some infantilise him on here is a bit much.
-
Do people actually believe there are fake supporters in this site trying to talk down the trade value of our players? That's pretty funny.
-
She popped up plenty of times in 2021 and 2022. Disappeared when things started to go awry late last year.
-
Being the "Collateral damage" of trade speculation? Give me a spell.
-
Lol they're not going to sack a gun player because of a bump that went wrong. If they trade him it will be because they will get overs.

Not great list management from us if we left ourselves in a spot where we couldn't attract anything that could have made us better. If you want to chase dynasties you have to add to what you already have. See Richmond with Lynch and Hawthorn with Lake and Frawley. We've lost a lot more than we've added over the past few years.
-
Is there a massive disconnect between Lamb and Goodwin? All of the players we've recruited since the flag either can't get a game or are off the list altogether.

Call me a cynic but Caro's piece on Monday was a massive tonal shift from the line the club has gone with over the past 12 months. That info felt like it came straight from the board and probably Roffey herself. One week ago there was no chance of an independent review, our issues were just isolated incidents, best culture in 40 years etc. By Monday the club was strongly considering a review and Roffey was planning her exit. Only after the conclusion of the mess of the last few weeks did we learn of the Steve Smith approach and the possibility that he may be the club's next president. It's all a bit convenient. That being said at the end of the day I'm not really fussed if the right outcome is reached.
