  1. The Kite-flying at this time of year is unbearable.
  2. I would take the Cats record in that period over ours any day. Not sure what point you are trying to make.
  3. I'm not. Losing good young players is a terrible outcome.
  4. Late second rounder. We have no leverage.
  5. The whole point of the sub is to deal with an injured player. It benefitted Scott today even though he couldn't see it. A few years ago he wouldn't have even had the sub and it just becomes another rotation, which is his wish. The irony is the coaches begged for the sub when the concussion protocols came in. Now they want it gone. It's one of the great examples of AFL reactivity that the coaches have been able to con them into adding a 5th man on the bench.
  6. Started driving to Casey at half time.
  7. Think people are taking the 'no purpose' thing a little too literally. The club obviously had a general purpose and drive to keep winning and going for flags, but the unifying purpose that the whole team was playing for up to 2021 was lost. The mountain had been climbed already and the team was crowned a dynasty in-waiting before the medals had even been presented. He's saying we got complacent and players became more focussed on themselves rather than the team and he's admitting that he failed to see it or revitalise that singular team ethos that they had in 2021. It's a hard truth that I hope the players hear. But by Goodwin's own admission the board was vindicated in their decision to move him on.
  8. His late season form was still miles below his best.
  9. Hes absolutely worth a mid-high first rounder.
  10. Only way we make finals is by improving our list. Trading Trac for a couple of average picks aint it.
  11. Headline a bit clickbaity but important bit is here: 7NEWS‘Rudderless’ Melbourne in shock backflip after unpopular...‘He’s too good a person to see just walk out of the club.’
  12. In fairness the WA media were relentless.
  13. I just want to see a genuine plan and strategy for the list which I feel has been missing the past few years.
  14. Yeah it's the worst time of the year, hey? Can't stand all the posturing and leaking clubs do to try and one-up each other. People are desperate for content too, so media will turn any scrap of info into 5 x 300 word articles. Our coach hasn't even started yet.
  15. Flanders hasn't even met the club yet. Maybe just relax and let it play out a bit longer.
  16. Doubt Oliver is going anywhere. Twomey basically said he's a teams second or third option for targeting a mid which means they aint going to be giving us much back and we'll be paying most of his salary anyway. Can't see the point in moving on both Oliver and Trac with nowhere for that money to go.
  17. Can we bin Miohcek's offer and add that to the Flanders offer? Reckon he helps us more.
  18. Thought he wanted to come home?
  19. Twomey has also said Suns are in play.
  20. Fair on Pies but Hawks were in a prelim two years later. Missing the finals in 09 and 10 was probably good for that young group though in hindsight.
  21. You could see the complacency setting in during that period and it had fully taken hold by the second half of the year. Once it was clear we weren't as dominant as we thought we were the cracks really started to appear.
  22. We were happy to give Essendon all our picks from 20 onwards and our first rounder this year to get a second bite at the first round in last years draft because we rated that draft so highly. If we are considering trading Trac I would hope that it's because we have very specific targets in mind with the sort of picks we would get back. If not I'd be shutting this down yesterday.
  23. Think Jordan Lewis has spoken a bit about how when he was at the Hawks, by the time they came back to pre-season after winning a flag they had pretty much stopped celebrating completely and the mood was totally back to business. Due to COVID the club was still celebrating into December with the Members (rightly so) but I think when you're a smaller club that hasn't had much success it's hard to move on from such an historic, generational moment. Clubs like Collingwood, Hawthorn, Geelong etc haven't got that baggage so it's a lot easier for them to move on from the flag and get back on their bikes.
  24. Fair to say that we did see some genuine development of some young players at Casey this year. Culley, Adams, Kentfield all seemed to improve over the course of the season.
  25. I would prefer to get Sam Flanders and nothing else for Trac than take Adelaide's two firsts. That's how bad they look right now.
